This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client installed WPML and selected automatic translation with the option to review before publishing. However, they were not satisfied with the quality of some translations and attempted to manually edit them. Despite saving changes, an orange bar appeared indicating the translation was not finished. Various troubleshooting steps, including restarting the plugin and deleting translated pages, did not resolve the issue. After reconfiguring WPML in manual mode, only one page was successfully translated, and others were not editable. Solution: We advised the client to reinstall the WPML plugin and activate it. They should then proceed with the WPML setup at their WPML account dashboard and generate a sitekey to activate the plugin. For issues with saving edited translations, we provided a screen recording demonstrating how to properly save changes. If automatic translation does not fully cover sections created with third-party modules in Elementor, it is necessary to register these modules for translation as explained in our documentation: Registering Custom Elementor Widgets for Translation.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I wanted to use automatic translation with WPML for my site hidden link, but the pages weren't translated correctly. I tried to manually change the translations in review, but the changes didn't save and reverted to automatic mode. I reset all settings and re-uploaded the plugins. Now, in manual mode, I can only add manual translations with the '+' option, but the rest of the pages are waiting for review with no content to show or review.
Symptoms:
Pages are not translating correctly, changes in review are not saving, and pages are stuck in review with no content to show.
Questions:
Why are my pages not translating correctly with WPML?
Why are changes in review not saving and reverting to automatic mode?
Why are pages stuck in review with no content to show?
Thanks for reaching us. I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Also, I noticed that your “WP Memory Limit” PHP limit is below the required 128MB or recommended 256MB as described at: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/ . Could you please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase this PHP value for you?
I've checked your website and I can see that you've uninstalled the WPML plugin. Could you please reinstall the WPML plugin and activate it so that I could check?
I did not configure it as waiting for your move, also I only downloaded
CMS, string and seo. Please make any changes that are needed for manual translation.
Thank you for your response. I apologize for the delayed reply over the weekend. Please proceed with the WPML setup at hidden link . Additionally, generate a sitekey from your account dashboard at https://wpml.org/account/sites/ to activate the plugin.
I've set up to translate manually YET again we do not start from zero point as there is already some previous actions visible (from previous session I guess) like there is 40 something translations jobs awaiting yet translation page is empty and actually invisible. I added one page to a basket to see if it will show up in translation queue but nothing has changed. It seems like all froze. Also on chrome menu does nit show up, on safari works with a British flag.
As noted earlier, your “WP Memory Limit” PHP setting is below the required 128MB or recommended 256MB, as detailed here: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/. Please contact your hosting provider to increase this PHP value, as it is crucial for the plugin to function properly.
Additionally, I have translated the homepage at hidden link, as demonstrated in this screen recording: hidden link . However, I noticed that some menus are missing. You need to translate the menus following the instructions here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/ .
Regarding the contact page, ensure that the translated page is published, as shown in this screen recording: hidden link . I hope this helps, and please let me know how it goes.
I understand you used automatic translation, so now we get back to square 1 as some of the translations are not correct, for instance the tagline is not supposed to be translated: "engineered form excellence" should stay as such, so after editing this section it shows 98% completed and the process cannot be saved. This is why I opted for manual translation hoping to have more freedom in translating.
Is there a way to provide us with a new key maybe so that WPML will "read" out website as a completely new project? You can take away all those credits thet were used for the automatic translation. I REALLY NEED THIS TO END and get the final results of smooth translation according to what I have translated myself.
Thank you for your response. I've reviewed the situation, and if you've edited the translation, make sure to save it, as demonstrated in this screen recording: hidden link .
It doesn't matter if you use a different site key for the domain; translations will always be stored unless you change your domain URL.
1. I've managed to translate all pages (100% complete), they are all set as PUBLISHED, 2. I did translate the menu, yet it is not showing up in Polish version.
3. Pages: HOME, MOULD MAKING (under roto1stop), OUR QUALITY and CONTACT are the ones that show Polish version (after manually clicking on the Polish flag). It seems like the rest of the are not linked or not converting (after clicking on the flag it shows the English version).
I DID run "Translate Link Targets" and Menu Synch with no success.
4. In Polish HOMEpage, the HOME (house icon) button on the right (sticky menu, over the green phone icon) redirects to English HOME, is it possible to set it to Polish HOMEpage?
Thanks
