Question about settings

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needs to ensure that all settings for a product set up in Dutch are transferred to other languages, with the exception of the description, which should remain editable and not be automatically translated. They are experiencing issues with having to manually add all content, such as pictures, prices, and variations, for translations, which was not the case previously.

Solution:
We recommend checking the guide on Setting the Translation Preferences for Custom Fields, which will help in configuring which fields should be copied to translations and which should not.

If you are manually adding translations and want to duplicate the product while only changing the description, you can refer to the guide on duplicating posts with WPML. This guide explains how to duplicate content, perform bulk duplication, and convert a translation to a duplicate. It also includes an option to overwrite the duplicated post with the original language content, thus copying everything to the translation and allowing you to manually edit only the description.

viktorP-9	Hello, The article wasn't really helpful. Let me give you an example: We have a product that is set up in Dutch, the product has picture, prices, variations,... When we click on the "+" underneath the language flag we need to manually add all the content again, instead of it being copied (think about the pictures, prices, variations,...) In the past this was not the case, how can we make this happen again?

So I assume you're manually adding the translations and want to duplicate the post and then manually change "only" the one needing it. While keeping every other thing the same, right? If this is the case, you can check this guide about duplicating posts with WPML https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/#duplicating-content. This topic explains how you can duplicate the content, bulk duplication and converting translation to a duplicate. There's also an option to overwrite the duplicated post with the original language content, thus copying everything to the translation and setting it accordingly.
