I know it's an old story, but still far away from being fixed.
(and inspite of many similar tickets, the link to new feature suggestion doesn't work anymore)

So: having hundreds of posts created by using Gutenberg blocks, the database is getting larger and larger dramatically, because every single text block is automatically added to string translation.

Please: stop this default behaviour, I know this is the way the plugin works, but it's crazy if pages are translated manually as a whole and not block by block. Years ago we were assured that a new feature would have come sooner or later, in order to prevent this automatic step, but we are still waiting for it or for some lines to fix it manually.

Thanks.

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

I have just checked further from our side, and we have a planned related fix for the next version WPML 4.6.1.

This will remove the block strings from WPML String translation screen , but in-backend it should stay almost similar since that is how the WPML editor and block translation work.

Block string would still be added to related DB since it requires translation via WPMl editor, and we are still testing if we can remove them completely if the pages are manually translated directly using WP native editor.

I have added your ticket to the related internal dev ticket and will update you when there is some news or a feature released.

Kind regards,
Drazen
