[Resolved] Translating a post is not working as expected
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is facing issues with some categories being displayed in the wrong language.
Solution: 1) We have published an errata regarding a fix for Object Cache Pro, which seems to be related to the problem. Please see Object Cache Pro - Various issues.
If this solution does not seem relevant to your issue, please feel free to open a new support ticket with us.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
If you update first the English post the issue disappears.
You could bulk update the post all at once to avoid the problem - I'd suggest you use a plugin since they're quite a few.
Maybe you could create a "test" category, add it to all posts and then delete it.
This should only happen for already existing posts, the posts you'll create from now on should be ok.
Do you happen to know a trustworthy plugin for just updating all posts at once?
I think this qualifies as an Issue to be fixed on next WPML update don't you think so?
Let me know if you know any good plugin for updating all posts at once, if not I'll just be careful each time I need to edit a duplicate post to be sure to update it first
A fix for Object Cache Pro is already in the working, we published an errata in the meantime.
I don't have a specific plugin to recommend. Bulk update is already a built-in WordPress option, but when there are a lot of posts to update I'd use a plugin, because sometime the option fails.
For the update, I meant the thing where you have to UPDATE the duplicates so everything to work as expected, I meant that was a bug too apart from the cache issue. I think you should also fix that so when duplicating a post yo don't have to update the post before editing the translation, don't you think so?
No, it's how WPML works. When you first duplicated the post, the caching issue created a xliff with issues (a xliff file is what WPML uses to translate posts).
So in order to see the correct post, you need to update the original.
