Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.

While you wait for my colleague to take over the ticket, let me try to help you with the issue quickly.

Please update manually to WPML 4.6.15 and String Translation v 3.2.18

Hello Drazen,

Thanks for your response!

I did install the plugin manually as one of our colleagues, Christopher has guided me through the process of installing and activating them. However, even after updating them manually, it still breaks the site. Upon checking with the Elementor Support, they told us that WPML String is causing the issue, here is the response from Elementor's support:

"I have now deactivated the WPML string translation plugin and updated both Elementor plugins without it, and you can see that everything works fine:
-hidden link

After that, I have simply activated the WPML string translation plugin, and then it all breaks down and creates a critical error:
-hidden link

Unfortunately, the issue here is not with Elementor, but with WPML string translation plugin, which you can also see here in the error log that you have sent initially:
-hidden link

To interpret this: The issue comes from a widget that WPML offers that controls language switching and adapting, this plugin file cannot find something that it wants to find from Elementor, for some reason, and that is where the issue starts.

There isn't much we can in situations such as these, as we cannot troubleshoot third-party plugins, and we can only point users to the support of WPML for this issue for them to look into this error first, and then check how this can be fixed.
If any collaboration is required from our developers, they may contact them on GitHub, as in situations such as these, this is the only way to handle this, as we don't troubleshoot third-party plugins and don't make direct code changes on websites individually:
-hidden link"

Here you will find the details of the issue. Looking forward to seeing a fix for this issue.

Regards,

Hello,

My colleague had sent the links to the latest versions of WPML but in both the videos and the debug information you sent you you DON'T have the latest version but the one that comes before it.

The latest version was released this monday a few hours before the elementor's update exacyly because we knew this could happen but didn't have enough time to release it beforetime.

Make sure the version you are installing is String Translation 3.2.18 and WPML 4.6.16. (I checked the past chats and it looks like you still indeed do not have the last versions).

--------------

If the problem continues, then Could you please check if there are any warnings or errors in the debug.log: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/debugging-wpml/

Try to recreate the issue (maybe deactivate and reactivate WPML's String Translations) after adding the code from the link to your wp-config.php file, and then go to the "wp-content" folder in your WordPress installation.

If there were any issues on the site, a file called "debug.log" will appear. If you find it, please upload it to your preferred storage platform (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and share the link to me in your reply (make sure it's shared with the right permissions so I can access its content).

I'll take a look at the file and determine the next steps.

Thank you for the steps provided!

Is it possible to hop on a call to get more clarity on the issue? I tried downloading the files to update WPML to the latest version, but it still shows version 4.6.15 instead of 4.6.16. When I updated the WPML plugin to the available version (4.6.15), the site remained intact. However, after uploading and activating the String Translation plugin to the latest version (3.2.18), the issue persisted.

I also attempted to enable debug mode by following the provided steps, but I encountered permission issues preventing the updated wp-config.php file from being applied. Additionally, my hosting platform doesn’t seem to record error logs. Is there an alternative way to locate the error log or troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi,

We do not have call support unfortunately. I checked and the version 4.6.15 is the latest version and it is compatible with Elementor but it seems that there are a few other plugins that also might trigger the same error:

https://wpml.org/changelog/2024/12/wpml-4-6-15-critical-update-for-elementor-sites/

But to be able to know where it originated from we need the debug log.

I'd appreciate it if you could contact your hosting service provider and ask them to help to make the wp-config.php file writable as it is essential for the error to show.

Meanwhile, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

Thanks

Hello Christopher,

It seems the issue has been resolved after updating the three lines in the wp-config.php file!

However, I will run a complete site check to see if anything pages are still affected. In the meantime, could you please look into the translation issue? The content in the German version is not being translated properly. For example, on this page: hidden link, the first column displays the same information for both the title CTA and the text CTA.

Additionally, this page: hidden link hasn't been translated at all!

I sincerely appreciate your help and look forward to your response.
