[Resolved] WP Menu Sync ... i need help navigating the steps to translate the Menus.
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client manually translated English menus into traditional Chinese and is seeking guidance on how to proceed with WP Menu Sync, especially for menus that are not fully translated or have content available only in certain languages. The client also encountered issues with deleting menus and synchronizing them across different languages.
I have manually translated the English menus into traditional Chinese. I now realize that I should probably have waited for all page translations of all languages and then used WP Menu Sync. I am now at the point of having translated most of my pages. There is an issue of some financial content only being available in Chinese (PDFs), however, all other pages have been translated. I need someone to come in and take a look at my menus and advise me of my next steps. I have set up a staging site. Please provide me with an email address and I will provide you with an admin account access to the site.
Sorry, I'm not getting this. Could you please elaborate a little bit more and also share some screenshots?
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
✙ I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
I need some guidance on how to use the WP Menu Sync. I have some pages that haven't been translated yet (Investor Information) but I am hoping you can provide me with documentation and logical steps that I need to perform to progress menu synchronization. hidden link
Of the screenshots I am attaching, WP-Menu-Sync-1, Is the Top Menu. Most of this menu has been translated. Please advise what else I need to do for this menu.
WP-Menu-Sync-2, is shows the Investor Information pages which I have just finished English pages only. These pages have not been translated to other languages yet (Traditional & Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai)
Below the Investor Information Pages, are the BMC Product Menus. All pages have been translated. Please advise on how to progress these menus.
WP-Menu-Sync-3 is a snapshot of the EV Charging Connector Product Menus. All of these pages have been translated. Please advise on how to progress these menus.
I am confused by your instruction because it seems to ignore the instructions on the WP Menu Sync. It says that I am to first perform the string translations for all the menus and then, come back and run the WP Menu Sync.
Also, when I go to string translation, and scroll to the Resources Menu, the strings that appear don't appear related to the Resource menu. The WP Menu Sync table looks like it already has the correct information for the menu.
For string translation of the menus, when I added them to the basket and then sent them for Translation, did I incorrectly choose to have it translated instead of using AI to perform Automatic Translation? These strings did not get queued for review by one of my Translation Reviewers. Currently, I see the translation in my Jobs window. It shows that I need to assign a translator. I, therefore, selected the appropriate paired translator but nothing seems to get routed for translation. Please advise.
I've identified some problems with the translation of the navigation menu. Would it be possible for you to initiate another complete backup? I'll then attempt to synchronize it for you and provide instructions on the next steps once that process is complete.
My site is automatically backed up by Siteground every day. It is ready for you. Please let me know what problems you have identified. Have you identified why the resource menu in string translation doesn't seem related to the resource menu in WP Menu Sync?
Thank you for your video. A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth far more than a picture. It is very helpful for me to see how a professional properly navigates the translated menus.
Yes, most of the Top menu has been translated.
The menu name "Footer Resources" is from the Amwerk template. I am not using it and it can be deleted. It is this menu that is causing me confusion. Can I go ahead and delete it? What is the best way to do this?
For "Top Menu" most of it has been translated except for:
1. About us
2. Resources
3. Products
a. EV Charging Connectors
4. Investor Information
For the product's custom menus, they have not been translated
5. BMC
6. EV Charging Connectors.
What is the best way to translate these? I believe I have identified the strings for these menus, put them in the basket, and routed them for translation, and they are still being reviewed by the paired translator.
Yes, you can delete it. Use the method shown in the screen recording that I shared earlier to switch languages and then delete each "Footer Resources" menu manually for different languages.
I didn't see that you had replied since we are now on our second page. Thanks for getting back. I had already deleted the English version of the "Footer Resource" Menu. Thanks for pointing out that I have to do this for all language versions.
For the product menus, (BMC & EV Charging Connectors) I will continue using option 2. manual method to complete the menus. For the most part, the menu navigation labels have been created. I just have to update the URLs.
Questions:
Should I have used anchors that remain the same no matter which language version is being used?
Should I just update the URL with language prefixes? Below is the current URL for simplified Chinsese.

Any suggestions or common sense for easier management is appreciated.
