Hi,

In the WPML editor, I can edit the post contents. However, how to edit the URL, or more specifically, the slug of the translated Post?

Hi,

thanks for contacting us.

You'll need to check the settings in WPML > Settings > Translated document options.
Please see https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-page-slugs/

I read the document carefully.

I have more question:

1. In "WPML > Settings > Translated documents options", the third option said "Copy from original language if the translation language use encoded URLs". So, how to know if the translation language use encoded URLs? For Chinese, it is known to use encoded, but for some other languages, such as German, it is difficult to know.

Hi,

If you go to WPML → Languages and click on the Edit languages link you will find "Encode URLs" there.

Thank you. I checked and found all languages are set Encoded to no by default. In such a case, even if I select "Copy from original language if translation language uses encoded URLs" in "Translated Document Options", it will NOT copy the URL from the original language?

So, as all my language do NOT use encoded URL, is there a way to let the translated post copy the URL from the original post?

Hi,

You could set your language to use encoded urls even if it doesn't, it is a kind of a workaround and the only solution that may work for this particular scenario.

In such a case, can I edit the page URL directly in your Advanced Translation Editor?

I set Settings > Translated Documents > Page URL option to "Translate (this will include the slug in the translation and not create it automatically from the title)" but it seems the URL is still not included in the Advanced Translation Editor
