I've been trying to manually translate an image after I changed it on the English version and then copied it to the German version. |

Hi Kristen, Thank you for contacting WPML support! I see that you need assistance in translating an image's ALT text through WPML's translation editor. Based on the documentation you shared, the ALT text should only appear in the translation editor the first time you add an image to a post or page. Therefore, if you previously translated it or copied the content from the default language, you will need to update the ALT text again in the post or page where you added the image. If you have already attempted this solution and it did not work, we are happy to log in to your website and inspect the affected page or post. You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it. Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved, I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you. IMPORTANT - Please backup site files and database before providing us access. The private box looks like this: Looking forward to hearing back from you. |

Hi Kristen, It is correct to assume if you only need to translate the ALT text of an image you do not need to have WPML Media Translation active. I saw the screenshot that you shared, I could not understand if you use the default Image block of WordPress native editor or if you use a third-party plugin block. If you use a native WordPress editor, make sure you also a change in a text somewhere on the page to force the need for a translation update. Then click the circle icon on the sidebar to go to the Advanced Translation Editor and see if you can see the ALT text there. If not, please try to search for it using the steps below: I'd be happy to check the page in question for further investigation but unfortunately, the given user does not have admin role and I can not access the WordPress Dashbord. Thank you. |

Hi there, First of all that is entirely ok to not know every bit and piece of the plugin as it has a learning curve. My job here is to help ease the process. I did not work with the Kadence Image block but the process should be the same. I would love to check your website dashboard to be able to test, but unfortunately, the user/pass you shared does not have an administrator role in WordPress. So I can not access the dashboard and it gives me this error:
I'd appreciate it if you could change the role of the same user to administrator or share a login information of an admin user by setting the next reply as private. Thanks. |

Hi Kristen, Thank you, I managed to access your website and you are correct. You use the manual translation mode si you do not use the ATE in the first place. No worries. Please kindly check the video below where I explain what you should do when it comes to the image Alt text translation: hidden link Thanks. |
