What are the differences between Multilingual Blog and Multilingual CMS?
What would i NOT be able to translate on my website if i buy Multilingual Blog?
i can read that the cheapest version wont translate “custom fields” but what is “custom fields”? is that the footer or what are we talking about?
With the Blog version, for example, you will not be able to translate all theme dependent strings set in so called ‘theme options’. The blog version is ok for blogs but when you use a theme bought at theme stocks they usually deal with various customs settings. You will need CMS version. For such cases, it is also good to check in advance if your theme is WPML compatible.
Can’t see any place to search the pre sales section, so I ask:
All my installed plugins are written in English, but the main language of the website is another.
Would it be possible to select English as the language “everything” is written in, but translate and have my main language as default in the website? And maybe with fallback to English for missing translations?
If so, WPML would make sense for me. I am eager to get going, so I am hoping for a quick response 🙂
Hi Torb, thanks for your interest in WPML and your questions.
WPML is used for translating your site content, pages and posts mainly. Strings coming from your plugins and themes can be translated without WPML, through so called po/mo files. So this is a separate issue. But WPML can handle them as well. Answering your question. You can set whatever language you want as your site main language, it can be different then English. If you are missing some of your translations:
In WPML Settings you will see:
How to handle languages without translation
Some pages or posts may not be translated to all languages. Select how the language selector should behave in case translation is missing.
-Skip language
-Link to home of language for missing translations
However different rules apply to strings coming from your plugins. If you don’t provide your translation they will be always displayed in English.
We have a specific requirement from a client who wants to let users only edit their “own” language. For example a German administrator should only be able to edit german pages/posts and so on. Is this a possibility?
I know that you can set up translators with specific languages, but we want the entire WP-admin and pages/post/cpt’s to be in a specific users language. And creation/edit of posts should only be between the Main language (english) to the users language, for example German.
When I buy and install WooCommerce Multilingual will I be able to do the following:
Front-end in French language
Back-end in Dutch language
Transaction email in French language
and in the near future add German and English frontend-language?
Hi why you keep dealing with parteis they are keep asking for personl information of your customer like 2ceckout last time they ask me my ID card number I feel I am in airport not on website.
You can override the files using ftp but I would recommend you to double check it with our technical support team. I did missed you second question in that thread. But what you did was a good decision. I would advise you to do the same.
Hello!
I have some questions:
there is the possibility to translate the contents for seo, as description meta tag and keywords?
And as concerns the permalinks, they will be translated as well?
Last question, if I purchase the Multilingual CMS version, I’ll have to pay $39 every year to get the plugin working?
Hello, if i purchase the economical package for $29, does renew means that after one year the plugin will not work any more, or does it refer to the support and updates only.
Thank you,
Hello, I am trying to purchase the lifetime plugin, the lifetime version using our corporate credit cards that has our creative director’s name and it keeps getting declined. I originally was using the client name and address, but our credit card and today I tried using the card holder’s name, address and phone number and it keeps getting declined. What sport of information would you need to find out why this is getting declined.
For security reasons, we don’t process credit cards ourselves. We use PayPal and 2checkout, who have their own screening methods. If one of these doesn’t like your credit card, can you try the other? In the checkout page, at the bottom, you can select the payment processor. It’s very rare to get both PayPal’s and 2checkout’s fraud-detection algorithms triggered.
Actually, you can use both the Lifetime and regular ($79) accounts for multiple client sites. The difference is in the renewals. If you buy the standard account, you will need to pay $39/year for renewals. With the Lifetime account, you get upgrades and support for life, without any additional costs.
I bought WPML CMS two years ago. It works well on a WordPress site I installed. It shows version 2.6.0. It didn’t show any error after upgrading to WordPress 4.0.
I couldn’t install it correctly however on a new WordPress site. Installation gives a fatal error. I haven’t have version 2.6.0 in my archive. How can I download it again? Is a newer version of WPML recommended for WordPress 4.0 ?
Hi Pierre,
even it doesn’t show any error now, for sure you will come across some issues with WP 4.0 and an outdated WPML version. I’m sorry but if your subscription expired you will not be able to download your WPML plugin again without renewing your license. WPML 3.1.7 is recommended to use with WP 4.0.
I work for a nonprofit organization and recently signup for a subscription and uploaded our organization license on your non-profits page. What is the next step I must do to obtain your translation plug-in? Thank you for your decision to help non-profits!
Hi Sandra, you should have received an email notification with your subscription details. Please check your spam folder. In the meantime we will check your case in our system.
Hi Agnes
I need to know exactly what happens when I install this plugin. Does it create a new subfolder which is accessible in ftp or what? Does it start autotranslate in whatever language is selected? Will I be able to control the translations?
I need to make a website multilingual. However I only need the content, which is pages, various forms, reforms replies etc – not the admin part – available in other languages. It is essential that I have the oportunity to control the translations. Which version would you advise I buy to fulfill these requirements?
Looking forward to your answer. Thanks in advance 😀
Hi Kirsten,
> Does it create a new subfolder
your visitors can see other languages as subfolders (de, en, pl, etc) or as subdomains. But these are not physical directories accessible via ftp.
> Does it start autotranslate in whatever language is selected?
No, WPML doesn’t translate your content. It is you who provides the translations. So you have full control.
>Which version would you advise I buy to fulfill these requirements
Is this going to be a company site or a blog? Are you going to use WPML for a site more complex than a blog you will need a CMS version. It will allow you to translate all theme depended strings, so called theme options. It’s also good to check in advance if your theme is WPML compatible.
Thanks for your answers. The theme i have used is on your list of compatible themes, so that should be ok. I will need the cms version as this is a company site.
I understand that if I buy the standard version for 39$ I will only receive updates for one year, and will have to pay another $39 after the expiring date. The plugin will not stop working. But if I pay 79$ I will continue to receive free updates in the future. Am I correct?
I am using qtranslate with 3 languages at the moment but I am interested to switch. How difficult would that be, what would be the next steps.
thank you

Hi Dominique,
can you access your WPML account? If you missed your yearly renewal you should still be able to use a link to renew WPML for life time with some special discount.
You can also use this link to recover your password: https://wpml.org/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
WooCommerce Multilingual requires WPML core plugin to work. You will need to purchase WPML CMS license.
Here’s a set of required plugins to make your WooCommerce Multilingual site work:
I have an older version of WPML but realised that there are some serious issues with eCommerce plugins such as WooCommerce where, when WPML is activated, some product listings simply disappear and the sitelink structure gets completely buggered up sometimes.
I would like to renew and purchase the full version again as we are expanding our shop BUT I won’t pay unless you can assure that there won’t be any bugs and the latest WooComm versions will be working properly together with your, admittedly, very good program.
I am asking this as I came across quite a few people on the forum having exactly the same problem, so I hope the issue has been resolved 😉
Thanks.
Hi Florian,
thank you for your feedback. It’s very important. I will share it with our developers team ASAP. We will do our best to provide you with best quality software but as the GPL license says “This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY;” so we cannot assure that there won’t be any bugs.
hi there, I completely understand, however WooComm has become such an integral part of the WP sphere that it should be fully supported. Especially in eCommerce different languages are extremely important.
I’m looking forward to your Dev team’s answer. When could I expect an answer?
I’m considering to purchase the WPML plugin to use on WordPress 4.0 running Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis Version: 2.1.2 (This is a child theme of Genesis framework). The website also uses SlideDeck 2, which I read is now WPML compatible. I would like to make sure that WPML is compatible with Genesis and the Dynamik child theme.
Many thanks,
Claud
Hi Claudio,
you might encounter small issues as this is involving not only a few different 3rd parties (Genesis, Dynamic, SlideDeck) but all the combinations between them. So we can not 100% guarantee that this specific combination will work 100% perfectly.
Hi Ernie,
thanks for you interest in WPML.
The theme authors say that the theme is WPML compatible but it wasn’t tested for WPML compatibility in our team. You cannot test it in advance but we have Refunds Policy http://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/ You can request refunds until 30 days of your purchase date. We will refund 100% of your payment – no questions asked.
Hi!
I have purchase your WPML plugin few hours ago and I did not get any replay with login/password. I put name of my client: (edited) and his e-mail: (edited). Maybe I made a mistake in his e-mail. Could You check?
Please send it to my e-mail: (edited). I was paying from my PalPal account.
Thanks!
I checked spam folders on both e-mail accounts and there is nothing there from you. And I can not login to recovery password.
Best regards,
Marcin

I have a client that is recording a video in both English and Spanish. Can I use this to also switch the video code when Spanish is selected?
Hi Andy,
how about including the videos on separate pages/posts per each languages? This way you will handle them the same way as all other pages.
Hi, I have purchased your product but stupidly put a typing mistake in the email.

Hi, sorry this is not possible with WPML.
when you write “translate custom fields” what do you mean by that? what is a “custom field”?
Some themes come with these custom fields. You can also add them yourself with some extra php code or using plugins like this one:
https://toolset.com/home/types-manage-post-types-taxonomy-and-custom-fields/
You will see custom fields below your post editor, like here (screenshot no 2, Listing section)

Hi. You didn’t answer me in page 107 (http://wpml.org/purchase/pre-sales-questions/comment-page-107/#comment-1012157)

Hello!
WPML works well with SEO by Yoast plugin.
http://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/using-wordpress-seo-with-wpml/
Yes, WPML supports URL translations.
Yes, if you purchase CMS version you will have to renew it each year. But it will be also possible to upgrade to lifetime paying only the difference.

Hi
I’m using an appdev theme for my website.
I need a Multilanguage plugin to translate it in different languages.
I have tested some free Multilanguage plugins and I have found some problems in managing the page sections and short codes.
Searching on the web I have found some comments on your plugin reading that it works well with appdev theme.
Could you please confirm that your plugin will work fine on my website and that it manages page sections with no problems?
Moreover, is there a way I could test it before buying it?
Awaiting your soon reply I thank you in advanced
