Hello!
Can I transfer a license to someone else?
If I buy a lifetime license and use it for developing a client’s website, how does that affect my liability if a future intern or malicious worker at the company rips the plugin from the installation folder puts it on the internet? Do I have to buy a license for myself to use during development (extra cost to me) and another license for the client to be used on the production website? Or can I transfer the “development license” to the client upon launching the production site and not risk being accused of piracy that someone else commits just because I was the one that initially bought the plugin? The client does not want to be involved in small purchases of licenses/domains, etc, just wants a single handover occasion.
What’s the best way to handle this situation and keeping costs down at the same time?
Hi Peter,
if you are a WordPress developer, feel free to buy the WPML subscription for yourself. You will be able to use it for all sites you build, for all your customers. We allow that. That’s the best way to handle this situation and keeping costs down at the same time.
If we subscribe a WPML license, build a WordPress website for customer successfully, deployed.
Then, a few month later, the customer discontinues our support service, (say) move everything out to 3rd party host.
Shall I remove the (licensed) website record in WPML.org ?
or keep it there (i.e. allow them to update)?
Hi George, up to you.
You register your sites in your WPML account. So you can simply remove that one site (and keep the other sites you build with WPML for your other customers). Of course to make that happen, you should buy the WPML subscription for yourself (meaning register with your email address)
Hi,
I’m using WPML…but I forgot my profile( age of my license and how much I have to pay to renovate it).
Can you help me please?
Thanks a lot.

Is it possible to use the translation services outside of the context of the plugin?
For example could I send a list of 100 keywords to you and have them translated into 20 different languages?
Also do the translations account for the deferring terminology for common words across countries, for example in the UK we say toilet but in the US they say restroom?
Hi,
you mean to use the translation services we cooperate with just to translate something for you? Yes, this is possible but you should contact the services directly. Here you will find the list of their websites: https://wpml.org/translation-service/
Hi we are developing a new website for our client Bettinardi and they currently have this plugin on their live site. Is there anyway we can transfer the license to our development site to test and set it up with? I’m trying to avoid purchasing it twice because long term this plugin will still only be used on Bettinardi.com
Hi Justin,
why don’t you ask them to give you access to the WPML account? In the Downloads section you will find a list of all WPML components so you can download it and test where you need.
Hi,
yes, this will be possible but you need to do it manually. First you need to add these two languages to your site in the setup process (after activating WPML). Set one of them as the primary language, then add the other one. Be default all your existing posts will be assigned to your primary language. Next, go to these of your posts that were posted in the other language and change the language.
Will my site won’t work be availalbe in other languages or is is juste buying, yearly, an access to help and updates ?
Seems like I’m having some issues with wordpress this days and I’m wondering if it’s because of deadline for updating my subscription has past
Thanks for clarifying that !
Hello,
the plugin you installed will work, you just lose access to future versions and our support help.
If you upgraded WordPress to the higher version and you haven’t upgraded WPML, yes, that’s possible you might have some issues because of this. Only our supporters can investigate it further for you.
I’ve never got an answer to my question so i will try again, please see below.

It’s a change in the ownership of the license. We don’t own the current license that is currently installed and used and would like to purchase a new license that is ours and then somehow change the installation so it uses our new license instead.

hi,
am planing to use a wordpress website template and it supports english only and what am looking for is to add arabic RTL and run both languages with swich between option, so i contact the support team and they told me i can translate everything but the css file o of this template dosnt support RTL so will this plugin help ?
Hi,
WPML supports RTL but your theme should have special CSS for RTL languages. Some themes such as the famous Avada theme are already adjusted to support RTL, other might not be. If your theme doesn’t support RTL it means that you will need to add this yourself. This document will help: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-rtl-wordpress-themes/
Hello,
i am interested in making a multilingual site (in 3 languages) for my client and the template I will use is compatible with the WPML plugin. I was wondering if my client has to buy the blog or the CMS version. I will manually add the languages in the menu, categories and all the site items and after that i want my client to have the possibility to add blog posts in any language she want.
Thanks a lot!
Hello, if your customer’s site is going to be more than a blog, you will need the “CMS”. You can also start from the “Blog” version and upgrate to “CMS| anytime by paying the difference – you do this from your WPML account.
I sell unique items (ooak) so every product is available only once.
I am using Woocommerce and would like to have a multi language site. I have tried another plugin but then I had to create a product page for each language.
That means that product management for my unique products was not possible, because I always only have one item in stock of each product. And not one per language.
I want to be able to offer each product once, and to have the product description in several languages.
WPML supports RTL but your theme need to have some extra CSS to handle RTL issues (it’s like mirror reflection). Some themes such as the famous Avada theme are already adjusted to RTL so you don’t need to do anything extra. In your case, if your theme doesn’t support RTL, you will need to add some extra CSS yourself: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-rtl-wordpress-themes/
So the best option for you would be to find a theme that is WPML compatible and supports RTL. This list might help: https://wpml.org/theme/
We are planning to use three languages in the website. As you can see we used woocommerce plugin. Most of the language plugins do not translate texts which are processed by plugins. Example: information coming through woocommerce and other plugin. I am just worried if we buy this plugin but cannot manage all the texts in the website for the different languages. Can you please confirm this? Also please confirm the price if the plugin serves our purposes.
Hello,
I’m not sure what you mean by “Example: information coming through woocommerce and other plugin.” but let me exaplin what you can achieve with WPML.
Thank you so much for the information. I got a last question; our website has a notification system, which is custom made. Basically the website is custom built. If you can confirm that the notification and other texts in the website will also be translated, that will be great. Also it seems the same plugin will work for multi currency. Please confirm this as well.
Thank you for the information. I got two more questions before we buy the plugin.
1. It seems that $79 package is good for us, but I am not 100% sure. Because the website is a custom built. Will we get refund if the plugin does not translate everything on the website?
2. There is a yearly renewal fees of $39. Will the plugin stop working if we do not renew it?
1. Yes, you will get your money back in any case, providing you request it within 30 days from your purchase date.
2. Renewal is optional and your plugin won’t stop working but you lose access to future release and our support help. Instead of reving for another year you will also have an option to upgrade to Lifetime by paying the difference only.
Hello! I just purchased the plugin (Multilingual CMS one year subscription) but my account was not created and I can not download it. Can you guys check what happened and send me an email as soon as possible? Thanks!
I tried to recover the password but i get the following error: Email t**********s@gmail.com not found. Please forward it asap because I need the plugin as soon as possible! Thanks!

Installing WPML is just like installing any other WordPress plugin. You need to upload the ZIP file, activate and follow the setup wizard.

Hello,
I’m not sure what you mean by “Example: information coming through woocommerce and other plugin.” but let me exaplin what you can achieve with WPML.
WPML along with the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin let you translate your products (and all its details) to diffrent languages. Please see some example sites here:
https://wpml.org/2016/02/what-our-users-say-about-the-woocommerce-multilingual-plugin/
Here you can read more about what WPML offers:

If you are doing a lot of custom stuff, you should follow the I18n rules from WordPress Codex:
https://codex.wordpress.org/I18n_for_WordPress_Developers
WPML will detect all strings from your theme properly wrapped in getttext functions so you will be able to translate them.
Yes, WooCommerce Multilingual allows you to set multi currencies as well.

In my wordpress theme many admin option are dynamic array, example
in this , title field is array like title[], because multiple slider are dynamic added in slider.
Is this translation possible with WPML?
If yes, that where is your document for, how to work with this?
Hi Priyank,
yes, this is possible but for some advanced cases you will need the so called WPML config file.
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/
Themes that are compatible with WPML have such a file included.
If you are a developer you will be able to create such a file yourself. Our Compatibility also helps theme authors:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
In this document provide option for like option_name_1, option_name_2,… variable, this is static field like value.
My issue is with option_name[] this variable, in this no limit how may value comes.
there is not fix identifier after the option_name[*]
this both are different option_name_1 and option_name[].
I want solution for option_name[] this if available.
Hello Priyank, I am Konrad from WPML Compatibility Team
Are your options inside of this array enumerated? That you have option_name[0], option_name[1] and so forth? If yes, you can use * as a wildcard in language configuration file, like:
…
(here is a link to the same code in case if this would be deformated http://pastebin.com/GS183mc7 )
If this is not enumerated array, there is other solution: forget about language configuration file and use our filter to translate any content before displaying.
Suppose your code now looks like this (to display your option_name[‘some_no-regular_name’]):
$option = get_option(‘option_name’);
echo $option[‘some_no-regular_name’];
(pastebin: http://pastebin.com/x8XWLGfD )
change this code into:
$option = get_option(‘option_name’);
echo apply_filters( ‘wpml_translate_single_string’, $option[‘some_no-regular_name’], ‘your-theme-domain’, ‘some-string-description’);
(pastebin http://pastebin.com/70h5s8vW )
More about this filter you find here https://wpml.org/wpml-hook/wpml_translate_single_string/
I hope this looks easy now for you 🙂
If you decide to purchase https://wpml.org/purchase/ license, remember that we are always eager to help you at our forum with any further questions 🙂
in comment I have write xml example code, but it disappear in comment. please check this also.
Yes, it disappeared. I hope my previous reply will help.
wpml-config.xml In this document provide option for like option_name_1, option_name_2,… variable, this is static field like value.

is this possible with wpml?
Hello, I am looking for a solution to toggle my web site between two languages, English (main) and French. I am using WordPress and Tesseract theme, with Visual Editor widget. All the multilingual plugins I have tried so far are able to toggle languages for the menu and content in pages but not when content is in a Visual Editor. Can WPML handle this? I am using the latest version of WordPress – 4.5.2. Thank you.
Hello,
your theme uses the Visual Composer, right? If so, you will be able to translate the pages using WPML. Here are the detailed instructions:
https://wpml.org/2014/06/use-visual-composers-page-builders-wpml/
Hi thanks for your answer. In fact I am not using WP default visual composer but Balck Studio TinyMCE widget that allows me to get more controls on formatting. So with this widget I edit text within a visual editor embedded in a row. Would WPML be compatible with this visual editor? Thanks
If this is a widget you should be able to provide the translation in diffrent languages using the https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-logic/ and relevant WPML codes:
https://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/
We didn’t test this specific plugin (Balck Studio TinyMCE widget) so I don’t know if it will work smoothly. If you are not satisfied with WPML, you can use our refund policy:
https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
