  1. Hi – I am working on a site with polylang installed – I would like to switch to WPML – is it difficult to switch the existing polylanguage content to wpml? or I will have to create all content from beginning in wpml? Thank you for answer.

    • We are almost done with a migration plugin from Polylang to WPML. This plugin will move all settling and translations, so you don’t need to copy/paste manually. If you used the pll PHP calls, you will need to edit the PHP.

This development should be complete next week. Does this help?

  2. Hey.

    Just a short question.
Is it possible to use wpml for one client for two websites.

    Thank your for answer.

      • Amir –

this method is 2 yrs old.

it says “As for the future WPML team is working on a new interface for translating texts in page builders. When this is ready, you will be able to use a single instance of the page builder, for all languages, and translate its texts with WPML.”

        Has this feature been done?

        thanks

        • It’s done for some page builders, but still not for Visual Composer and Beaver Builder. We’re going to implement it for both BB and VC in the next few months (not years).

  3. Have actually already purchased, but the subscription passed and we need the plugin updates and maybe some tech support, if that does not solve the problem.
Is there a time limit to when you can get the $39 renewal price?
I need to let my client know so I can direct him on what to purchase.
Is there a way you can send a renewal email?
Is he still in the system? His login username was: mjackson
    Thank you for your help!

    • You can renew your WPML account at $39 before the account expires. After this, you can either buy again for $79 or upgrade your account to Lifetime and pay $116. The Lifetime upgrade will give you access to downloading updates and support for life, without renewals in the future.

To get this upgrade, you need to log in to your existing wpml.org account (even if it expired). You will see the button to upgrade to Lifetime on the top-right of the account page.

    • We don’t have much experience with Flexslider. There’s only one support thread that I found for it, here:
      https://wpml.org/forums/topic/flexslider-not-showing-on-other-language/

A client reported problems and then came back to us said that it’s OK. I see a slider on their homepage, working fine in English and Italian:
      http://www.isis-it.com/

But, I don’t have more details than this.

If you buy WPML and have any trouble, our supporters will be happy to help. In any case, if there’s a problem that we cannot resolve and it’s a critical issue for you, you can always get a refund for WPML. We offer refunds up to 30 days from the date of purchase.

      Does this help?

      • Dear Amir,

Thank you for your very useful comment!

Which version of WPML do we need to support the translation of the slider: Multilingual CMS or Blog?

        Thankfully,

        ~Robert

    • WPML comes pre-configured with Hindi language. You can add Marathi using WPML’s admin. Go to WPML->Languages->Edit languages to add custom languages.

  4. I have a question if it is possible to translate entire WordPress theme to publish on web in another language with language switching but still keep the Dashboard in English?

Many thanks in advance for help.

    • Yes, you can choose for the admin a separate language from what visitors see on the front-end. Each admin user can select his/her language for the WordPress backend. You will choose your language from User->Profile.

  5. Hello,

I’m planning on writing an article comparing the best multilingual plugins for WordPress for a popular WP blog.

Would it be possible to get a review copy of WPML so I can include the plugin in the review post?

    Thanks,
    Joe

  6. Hello, I heard you can provide the plugin for free for non-profit organizations. Stichting Rumas is a non-profit organization which focusses on dropouts and trouble youth especially boys.
I need to translate the site to dutch.
    hear from you

  7. I mean a following scenario:

    1. There is a landing page with job offers (WP Job Manager).

    2. People who visiting the landing page with job offers come from country A.

    3. The eployers come from country A and country B.

    4. The landing page where the employers can publish their job offers hast to be available in two languages (A and B). But the landing page with job offers stays available in only one language (country A). The WP Job Manager is connected to WooCommerce, because the employers can publish also premium job offers which are not free.

Is it possible to translate the landing page for the epmloyers (so also the parts of the plugin, which work on this pages)? Is it possible, that the employers who publish their job offers from the landing page A, get notification emails in the language A and the employers from the country B get notification email in the language B?

Thank you in advance for an answer!
    Best

  8. I have purchased
    sitepress-multilingual-cms.2.9.1.zip
How to upgrade as there is quoted 15 USD to renew already purchased item?
Which link is valid to do this as there is only option to purchase 75 USD?
    Need help

    • I have purchased sitepress-multilingual-cms.2.9.1.zip How to purchase upgradeto renew already purchased item?

      You have quoted:
      https://wpml.org/purchase/
      Account renewal per year

I can not click just this renewal.
Within our Multi WP we had more than 300 tables from your plugins.
I had to delete all of them and update plugin again.
      Message is now:
Fatal error: Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes in public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/inc/sitepress-schema.php on line 366

Can we give you access to check all conflicts as your plugin creates more than 300 tables.

  9. Hi there,

Just wondering how it works upgrading from “Multilingual CMS” to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime”.

I am looking forward to purchase “Multilingual CMS” and possibly in 10 months upgrade to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime”.

Will I pay $79 now and then once I want to upgrade, only the difference, being a total of $120 ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Caio

    • Hi,
it works as you expect. So you can start with the “Multilingual CMS” version and 30 days before it expires you will be able to upgrate to the Lifetime and pay the difference only. We will send you two reminders, the first one 30 in advance, the second one a few days before your current subscription expires. You will need to log in to your WPML account and the link to do the upgrade will be available there.

  10. Hi,
before purchasing I would like to be sure that wpml works properly with the visual editor of the avada theme.

    Thanks!

  12. If I activate the plugin for the domain I am developing the site then move the site to the final hosting account and domain, will I have any issues with reactivating the plugin under the new domain?

    • Not at all. You can register Toolset plugins on all your sites and sites that you build for your clients. This includes production and development sites.

  13. What’s is the version number of the current version?

Also, our subscription lapsed over a year ago. Can we still renew ($39) or do we have to pay $79 again?

    • Hi Matthew,
      the current version is 3.4.1

You can still renew (I mean, no need to create a new account, just log in to your WPML account) but the only discount you have now is to upgrade to Lifetime. You will see all the details in your WPML account. If you don’t remeber the password, please use this link to reset it: https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/

  14. We are a language service provider and have recommended one of our clients use your translation plugin. We read about how, if we refer them, we can be listed as the only translation service that shows up for them. How does this work and what do we need to do?

  15. Can WPML be set to work on the blog and posts only and not pages? After launching our site wangjingwei.org we decided to add a blog with posts written in English and also Chinese. The site has pages in both languages on separate pages and linked to each other with words. (Wish we had known about your plugin!) We don’t want to add /zh or /en to the url or have to recreate all the pages.

    • Hi Cindy,
      to answer your question.

Yes, you can translate only posts but it would be good to have the entire site translated properly, which means to have the second language available as yourdomain.com/zh (yourdomain.com/en).

This way Google will index your site properly and your site will be easier to find through search engines.

You don’t need to recreate all pages from scratch but your would need to go to each page and do the following:
      1. Leave the content in one language (in the language you set as your primary, for example Chinese)
      2. Create a new page which is a translation of that page in the other language (for example in English). You will see a WPML button to do. And paste the content in the other language into it.

      • Ah, I think I understand. But since this is a live site with many internal links, wouldn’t the process of creating these new pages with /zh and /en at the end not make all the pages show as missing? Also, I would need to fix all the internal links, right? Yikes! Perhaps I need to start another blog and put WPML there instead of the website and just link to it. Or is that a bad idea? Again, wish we had known about the plugin before.

        • Hi Cindy,
I gave your site another look and your URL are either sth-en or sth-cn, so if you set, let’s say, English as your primary language all your URLs would stay the same (and the pages will be accessible) but they won’t look good with the “-en” part. So in that case it doesn’t make much sense to leave them as they are either.

If you would like to have completely new URLs and not to lose your current traffic to your site you could set some redirections. But of course this is done outside WPML.

  16. What are the options to display the same content, translated?

Having an english and translated page is fine for some informative pages.
But once you get a page with interactive content (e.g. a business profile with reviews) one would need to see all the reviews content available for that business profile. Not 8 in english (those submitted by users viewing the english version) and 0 (those submitted by users viewing the translated version).

    • Not see for the same business profile 8 reviews in english (those submitted by users viewing the english version) and 0 reviews in translated language (those submitted by users viewing the translated version).

  17. Hi,
I have WPML Version 2.7.1 running on my WordPress site.
My problem is that I’m not able to save a menu which is not in default language.

1st question: is this problem solved if I buy and install a new WPML version from your site?

2nd question: can I update the current version by simply uploading and overwriting the existing files?

    Thanks and regards,
    Arndt

  18. Hello,

I would like to kindly ask you for help. I am interested in buying the plugin but I am not sure where to start and I have couple of questions. Is there a way to get advice on purchase or I can only get it through forum here? If only here, then q below:

    1. If I buy Multilingual Blog package, can I just upgrade to Multilingual CMS later on if needed? Or I would need a new license? I have very simple
    2. I understand that I can use the plugin for multiple websites, for multiple clients right? So I would be able to install it on few WordPress sites?
    3. Is the license only for 1 year? Do I have to renew it after that? Or it is just for the updates?
    4. I have a very simple website here: varrojoanna.com . Would you say that Multilingual Blog option is good to translate such website?

    Thank you,

    Joanna

    • Hi Joanna,
yes, this is the right place to ask questions like yours.

      1. Yes, you can pgrade to Multilingual CMS later on if needed. You can do it anytime and you will pay the difference only. You just need to do it when being logged in your WPML account. In your account you will easily find a link to do so.
      2. That’s correct. You can install and use WPML on your sites (new and old) and the sites you build for your customers.
      3. Renewing after the first year is not mandatory. If you won’t, you will lose access to future releases and our support help. You will also have a chance to upgrade to the Lifetime version by paying the difference.
      4. I cannot answer that question looking at the front-end only. Basically you will need the “Multilingual CMS” for translating additional strings provided by your theme. With the Blog version you can only translate page and post body, menus and categories and tags.

    • Hi Agnes,

Thank you for your quick reply. Just one more question for number 3. Does it mean that the plugin will stop working after a year? I am just asking in case if I install it for clients and then for some reason stop using it after year. Or it would miss only updates/upgrades?

      Thank you,

      Joanna

  19. Hi there!
I’m a student from Switzerland and I wanted to ask, if you offer student discounts, even just for one website/license (for your CMS-package for 79$)? I can provide my valid student card if needed?

Would be very happy, if you would offer discounts for stundents (espacially for the CMS-Version, because you’re able to translate theme text).

    Thanks!
    Tarek

    • Hi Tarek,
I’m sorry but we don’t have any discounts for students. If the site you plan to make multilingual is simple you can start with the Blog version and then (after a few weeks or months) upgrade to the CMS version by paying the difference.

  20. Hi, we want to buy one license of “Multilingual CMS”, but as we are a company in Brazil we can pay only through invoices. Is it possible to purchase and pay this way?

    Regards
    Fabio

    • Hi Fabio, you will get an invoice as soon as your purchase is complete. You will see it in your WPML account.

  21. Hi

I would like to know if translating the content by your team cost extra or is that included in the price? In your FAQ you mention:

“You will be able to translate yourself or send content for others to translate.”

    Also,

Will the prices be shown and processed in the chosen currency for each country?

    Many Thanks
    Vernita
