Can I install Multilingual CMS and Multilingual CMS Lifetime in different wordpress installations? We have some WordPress pages in different virtual machines with different IPs.
Hi Sergio, you can.
You just need to purchase one WPML subscription and you can use it for all your websites (or the sites you build for your customers).
Hello there,
so i’m looking for multilingual plugin and i found one called ‘ WEGLOT ‘ and it has a trial period and the plugin did what i expected it was awesome … so i did a little search and found yours and i’m impressed with it also, so what are the factors that make me go with ‘WPML ‘ rather than the other option i found ?
Hi Seema,
this plugin is quite new (please check its change log under the Development tab in the WP repository) – it’s about 8 months old, while WPML has been in use for about 8 years. I’ve never checked these plugin features but after visiting their website I can see this:
“With the free version of Weglot, we can translate up to 2000 words for only 1 website.”
Then, you need to buy a premium subscription.
The $79 subscription they offer allows you to translate 1 website, add 1 extra language and translate up to 20 000 words. To compare, our $79 (Multilingual CMS) subscription allows you to use WPML on unlimited number of sites, add as many language as you want and translate as many words as you wish.
I didn’t find a Lifetime version in their offer. Using WPML you can upgrade to the Lifetime version any time and you will pay the difference only.
Hello. I’m interested in purchasing WMPL but I want to confirm its functionality with ACF. I see from the examples that it translate text fields, but will it also work for checkboxes?
I do not want to amend the values as the (obviously) the same boxes will be ticked in the back-end between languages, but I want the choices to display in either English or Japanese.
I want to buy WPML to make other language option and also setup with more than one currency for each products. At the moment we I woocommerce plugins. I am interesting to buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime, what kind file I get if buy this one. Also you can aswer this question direct to my email above.
Just to clarify, I meant that for previewing and testing purposes, is it possible to see the translations, etc. on the public site only if you are logged in as an admin, using something like current_user_can().
You can configure WPML to hide from visitors certain languages. People often use that while they are translating their sites. Admins can choose if they want to see (on the front-end) different “hidden” languages. When you’re done translating, you should “unhide” these language, so that visitors can see them.
You can reach this in WPML->Languages. There, you can select which languages to hide from visitors.
Sorry, but we don’t have a trial version for WPML or on online demo. We do offer refunds, for up to 30 days of your order. If you buy WPML and you are not 100% satisfied, let us know and we’ll refund your order promptly.
I just wanted to make sure your plugin will accomplish what I need before purchasing.
I currently have a website with 180 pages and we want to host a spanish version on a subdomain. If I clone the website to the subdomain and install your plugin, it will convert all the text to spanish?
WPML doesn’t translate your content, but allows you to run a site in multiple languages. You can certainly run a site in English and Spanish with WPML.
You will be able to translate yourself or send content to translation services (professional translation costs).
With WPML, you can set the Spanish version of your site to appear in a sub-domain. There’s no need to install WordPress on that domain. There’s a configuration that you will need to do in the web server and in WPML to make that happen. Have a look here: https://wpml.org/faq/server-setting-for-languages-in-different-domains/
If I purchase the standard license of WPML, once the first year of support has ended am I obliged to purchase support for another year or can I just use the product without support?
You need a valid account in order to download WPML versions and get support from us. What you downloaded again will continue working uninterrupted. Even if your account expires, you can continue using what you downloaded before. You probably realize that it’s important to keep WordPress, your theme and all plugins up-to-date, but we don’t require you to update WPML.
If I purchase the standard license of WPML, once the first year of support has ended am I obliged to purchase support for another year or can I just use the product without support?
Thanks for your reply. I do not doubt that WPML can work with different domains. But in the following link you I have not seen the information about the possibility of creating posts and pages with different URL depending on the language used and the domain, for example: http://www.companyname.uk/this-is-test-page and http: // http://www.companyname.de/diese-testseite
Also, it is very important to the user are, for example, on the English version of the site, on http://www.companyname.uk/this-is-test-page page after clicking on a link to the German language version is not moved to the home page of the German site (http : //www.companyname.de), and on the copy of the page in German ie on http://www.companyname.de/diese-testseite
Compliance with these two conditions are very important to me. Waiting for your reply.
Hi again,
yes, it will work exactly as you described. So for example, if a user visits the http://www.companyname.uk/about-us URL and its German equivalent is the “Über uns” WP post (with the uber-uns slug), when the user clicks the language switcher he/she will be moved to directly to http://www.companyname.de/uber-uns.
To use WooCommerce Multilingual, you need to have the following plugins installed and activated:
WPML 3.4 or above
WPML String Translation 2.0 or above
WPML Translation Management 2.2 or above
WPML Media Translation 2.1 or above
WooCommerce 2.1 or later
How much do these plugins cost – Or are they all included in the bundle?
Yes, they’re all included in the “Multilingual CSM” or “Multilingual Lifetime” package. Except for “WooCommerce” – it is a free plugin in the WP repository.
I am considering to create a couple of different multi language/currencies stores with WPML solution.
I have two questions:
1) I am using linnworks.com/linnworks.net to sync after sale transactions from different channels. Linnworks has already built in plugin to sync with woocommerce.
I would like to confirm that multi language /multi currency store with WPML solution wont make any difference with that synchronization…
thanks for your response regarding syncing with linnworks.com
I am wondering.. isnt true that wpml is uploading transactions from different multi language stores directly to woocommerce ?
And once woocommerce have them…it can upload them to linnworks.com ?
I am just trying to figure out one thing…that wpml does not have to directly connected with linnworks … its just enough that woocommerce is connected with linnworks.com directly
Thank you for your explanation and assistance
Kind Regards
Mike S
Hi Mike,
“I am wondering.. isnt true that wpml is uploading transactions from different multi language stores directly to woocommerce ?”
No, the translations are stored in tables created by WPML.
The point is that our Compatibility Team never tested WPML with linnworks.com and he don’t know how it works. You can test it yourself without any risk since our return policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days.
Hi Mike, your question was awaiting moderation. I have just replied. I will write more about using WPML with Linnworks as soon as I have more details from our developers.
Hello. Yesterday I asked a clarifying question to this answer: https://wpml.org/purchase/pre-sales-questions/comment-page-214/#comment-1562200 but still have not received a response. Please write a response as quickly as possible, it is very important to me to know that your plugin can, so I can be determined with the purchase.
Remind their demands to the plugin:
1. There are 2 domain. Not subdomain and the domain itself – this is important. For example: http://www.companyname.uk and http: //www.companyname.de. To control using the latest version of WordPress. It is necessary to place the English and German content for each domain, respectively.
2. Must be able to edit pages and blog URL. For example: http://www.companyname.uk/this-is-test-page and http://www.companyname.de/diese-testseite. Those. for each language must be able to edit the links. This is necessary for SEO optimization.
3. It is important, if the user is on http://www.companyname.uk/this-is-test-паге page and clicks on a link that leads to the German version of the site it should not go to the home page, and here http://www.companyname.de/diese-тестсеите
4. Do you have a plug-trial version? At least a few days to see how it fits to solve my problems.
No worries. Please just make sure that all your domains are pointing to the same WordPress (web) installation. This is possible for all kinds of hostings (shared, private or dedicated). As explained in this post, it also works in a shared hosting when you use the cpanel.
My question is: I know that WPML does translate text, but what if I want to override it? For example, my company works with a translation agency to do all of the translating, so we don’t need WPML to translate the text, we just need it to manage the translated content once we input it. Does this make sense, and if so, will the tool accommodate this?
Hi Pierre,
thank you for purchasing WPML. Now, when you have your WPML account, please log in and feel free to ask all your question in our support forum. You will get your reply faster and more accurate.
To answer your question. You can include as many languages are you want in your language switcher. There are no limitation. Please look at the footer of this website. We have 11 languages.
As my english is not fluently (difficult to undertand for me, the footer of this website), could you tell et quote me exactly 11 languages witch available :
French, english…. etc.
hola me gustaria saber mas especificaciones sobre WPML y los requrimentos para poder usarlo en mi web ya que necesito que este tanto en español como en ingles y en un futuro en mas idiomas
I post here because i dont find the link of the technical support
Hi Agnes,
Thanks for your quick answer with my 195 $ bought recently for package.
As my english is not fluently (difficult to undertand for me, the footer of this website), could you tell et quote me exactly “11 languages witch available” Wich on i can put in the footer :
French, english…. etc.
Hello
We have an English only website at the moment and would like to recreate some of the pages within the site (not all of them) in 6 different lanaguages.
We are getting our translated text done professionally for us and will be able to add this manually to each language page.
I wanted to ask if your plugin WPML would achieve the above? ie allow us to create manually by adding our own translated text to the pages and also translate the main menu?
Hi Joanne,
yes, you can achieve the above using WPML. So using WPML you will add 6 different lanaguages and then you will be able to translate the posts/pages you need and you will add the translations manually.
Hi, I would like to know is the WPML compatible with multisite (MU) Wordress version? I am creating representation site on one domain in lithuanian /russian and the store will be created on another domain in english /lithuanian. And is there lithuanian language included in WPML CMS package?
Also I would like to know about URL for different languages is there option to translate URL and slugs with WPML? I used polylang for my Theme Hermosa and plugin nootimetable translation but it doesn’t allow to translate slug and URL for different languages. The slug used for building the classes and events URL, for example stays the same for all languages, that doesn’t suit me
And last, but not least I would like to know if there someway to migrate from polylang (i use free version) to WPML without redoing major work, just by assigning already created pages to certain languages?
Thanks for answers in advance!
Hi Agnes, Thanks for the quick reply.
The slug for classes is just classes for events – events I think it looks more like category in URL so I want to be able to translate it and assign each one for its language it would be uzsiemimai in LT and zanyatiya in RU language for example at this moment with polylang my URL looks like this http://shanti.lt/classes/senjorams and I want it to look like this URL http://shanti.lt/uzsiemimai/senjorams for LT language and htttp://shanti.lt/ru/zanyatiya/pozhylym-lyudyam in RU languages the same with events. In my Theme Hermosa i have plugin nootimetable which has events timetable and classes timetable but when i put my info there the URL output is not nice, I can change translate classes o be uzsiemimai but only once, so with RU language it still looks bad. So is it possible to do it with WPML?
If the events and classes are custom post types, you will translate them using WPML. Please check this page – scroll down to the “Choosing which content types to translate” section. You will be able to change the slugs of your posts as well. Translating the archive slugs (classes) is tricky. Please let me contact our supporters to check if anything has changed. I will keep you posted.
There is one specific case you cannot translate the archive slugs – if the CPT was created with the has_archive option other than “true” (which is the default one). But it really happens.
OK, understood, thank you very much for all yours answers. Bought your plugin! Now trying it in use ! So far very impressed! If I have some more questions will write to tech support then 🙂 Have a nice day. And once again thank you for answering all of my questions and helping me to decide!
Hi,
I’m considering buying the WooCommerce Gateways Country Limiter.
It says that “it lets you choose which payment gateways will be available to different clients, depending on their billing address”
So you mean that the customer has to enter the billing address first, then be directed to the checkout page?
We currently are using Klarna Checkout here in Sweden and there you put in your billing address ON the checkout page. This means that we would have to direct the users before coming to the checkout page.
So my question is: when/how do you ask customer for their location?
Do you have a live demo for this plugin? (or a active site that is using it)
Hello Anders, the comment you are linking to is very old. Could you ask your question once again? What exactly would you like to know? Please note that we have a list of all WooCommerce extensions compatible with WPML here. https://wpml.org/documentation/woocommerce-extensions-compatibility/
I installed two wordpress pages on two different domains: .com for English and .de for German. They should have of course the same contens in different languages.
Q1) If I buy the Multilingual CMS for one year. Can I install it on both domains? I should not buy 2 licenses for that or?
Q2) If I buy the Mulitlingual CMS for one year. Can I then upgrade for example after 6 months for the life time version? And how much would it cost in this case? 195 – 79 $ ?
1. You need to buy only one WPML subscription and you can use it for all your sites (or the sites you build for your customers)
2. Yes, you can upgrade to the Lifetime version anytime and you will pay the difference only.

Hi Ross, yes, it will translate all kinds of fields. In some cases you will need the “Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual (ACFML)” plugin (included in the WPML subscription). Please check the documentation.
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/setting-wpml-advanced-custom-fields/#6
Can I upgrade from Multilingual CMS to Multilingual CMS lifetime by paying just the difference?
Yes you can. This is exactly how it works. You will find a link to do so in your WPML account.
Hi,
I want to buy WPML to make other language option and also setup with more than one currency for each products. At the moment we I woocommerce plugins. I am interesting to buy Multilingual CMS Lifetime, what kind file I get if buy this one. Also you can aswer this question direct to my email above.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,

You should buy the “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” option, from here:
https://wpml.org/purchase/
This includes all of WPML’s components, together with full support for WooCommerce sites.
WPML indeed allows you to add languages to the site (and to WooCommerce products) and add pricing in different currencies.
The documentation page for WooCommerce Multilingual is here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
Is it possible to install the plugin in such a way that only logged in admin users can see the translations, widgets, etc.?

You can use WPML on as many sites as you want, for yourself and for your clients. No need to buy again to use on different URLs or servers.
Hello. Problem: there is one site that need to be implemented on 2 domains – English and German with CMS WordPress. For example: http://www.companyname.uk and http://www.companyname.de. It is imperative that the use of multilingual reference so that the URL for each domain was his language, for example: http://www.companyname.uk/this-is-test-page and http://www.companyname.de/diese-testseite.
Can I solve my problem by using WPML? Where can I read about this? Thank you!
Hello, this is possible but some setup is required in your web server. Please check the details here:

Hello guys
I am considering to create a couple of different multi language/currencies stores with WPML solution.
I have two questions:
1) I am using linnworks.com/linnworks.net to sync after sale transactions from different channels. Linnworks has already built in plugin to sync with woocommerce.
I would like to confirm that multi language /multi currency store with WPML solution wont make any difference with that synchronization…
Unfortunately linnworks cannot promise me that this is going to work.
I only received this documentation link about the current API settings between woo and linnworks:
http://woocommerce.github.io/woocommerce-rest-api-docs/#request-response-format
Could you please have a look at that ? Really appreciate..
2) Also…do you have any list of the ecommerce store development agencies that understand how WPML works and could help to create the stores ?
Thank you
Mike
Hi Mike,
to answer your first question, I need to contact our WooCommerce Multilingual developers. I will update you as soon as I know more.
to answer your second question. We have a list of WPML certified partners. They should be able to help you

Hi Mike, WPML is not compatible with innworks.com/linnworks.net.

Hi Mike, your question was awaiting moderation. I have just replied. I will write more about using WPML with Linnworks as soon as I have more details from our developers.

Here https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/ and here https://wpml.org/purchase/pre-sales-questions/ I read that 2 different settings domain must be changed Appache settings. What should I do if I do not have a dedicated and virtual hosting? Or your plugin only works on a dedicated server?
No worries. Please just make sure that all your domains are pointing to the same WordPress (web) installation. This is possible for all kinds of hostings (shared, private or dedicated). As explained in this post, it also works in a shared hosting when you use the cpanel.

Hi Mel,
WPML doesn’t translate automatically. It’s totally fine to provide your own translation.

Hi,
yes, WPML can be used in WordPress Multisite.
Yes, WPML supports both Lithuanian and Russian languages.
Yes, you can translate (and change) slugs using WPML but you’ve mentioned slugs for classes and events. What are classes and events in your case?
Yes, you can migrate from Polylang. Please check this post.

Ok, so WPML can translate slugs for CPT archives even if this CPT was created by the theme or by a 3rd party plugin, this documentation will help you:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-page-slugs/
(or a active site that is using it)
Hi,
this is a very specific question so please let me contact our developers for their help. I will keep you posted.
I have the same question. Do you have a response yet?
Hello Anders, the comment you are linking to is very old. Could you ask your question once again? What exactly would you like to know? Please note that we have a list of all WooCommerce extensions compatible with WPML here.
https://wpml.org/documentation/woocommerce-extensions-compatibility/
And this doc explains how you use WooCommerce Gateways Country Limiter with WPML.
Hello,
I installed two wordpress pages on two different domains: .com for English and .de for German.
I am looking forward your answer
Hello,
to answer your questions:
1. You need to buy only one WPML subscription and you can use it for all your sites (or the sites you build for your customers)
2. Yes, you can upgrade to the Lifetime version anytime and you will pay the difference only.
Please note that if you want to have each language on a separate domain you need to follow these instructions:
https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
