  1. Hi,

First question: Can we setup the English and French options in my top menu (Home| Services | About | Blog | Contact | Fr for example)?

We only want Fr (without any flag) to be seen when on the English website and En when on the Fr website. Is this something possible with your plugin? would we need to do any coding to achieve the result we want to do so far? or it’s built in the plugin?

Second question: Our website is currently in english. We are planning on offering a French version of it. We use some Revolution Sliders (plugin) on the site as well as Videos from YouTube. When switching in the top menu to Fr (French) will we be able to upload french version of the Revolution sliders and french version of the videos from youtube on our website?

Thank you in advance for the answers. We look forward to translate 100% of our website content with your plugin.

    Regard,
    Simon R.

    • Hello,

Can we setup the English and French options in my top menu

      Yes, you can.

We only want Fr (without any flag) to be seen when on the English website and En when on the Fr website.

Possible. You can switch off displaying flags.

We use some Revolution Sliders (plugin)

WPML is compatible with the Revolution Sliders plugin

As it comes to videos – no problem at all, you just need to insert the French version of the video.

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate automatically.

    • Hi Simon, hi again.
It turns out that there are some incompatibility issues with the Revolution slider. It works with WPML but depending on what exactly you are translating (which sliders and features you use) you can run into some issues.

If you are not completely satisfied you can use our refund policy and we will refund your order.

You can also use other slider plugins:

  2. Hello,

I’m using Rob Hope’s fabulous currl/flow one pager as my company theme.
WMPL is working on the impressum (imprint) page.
Other than that the theme does not use pages or posts. It only makes use of custom portfolio projects (not Jetpack’s).

Please let me know how I can get the projects translated with wmpl blog edition, or does it require the css version to work?

    Thank you,
    Mark

    • Hi Mark,
this theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team so I cannot say how it works with WPML. For sure, the Blog version won’t suffice in your case – you say that it makes use of custom portfolio projects – these are probably custom post types which require at least the CMS subscription to be translated.

You can give it a try, keeping our refund policy in mind. Please note that during that 30-day probation period you can ask questions on our technical forum.

  3. Hi,

I’d like to use WPML for a new website build. I use ACF extensively, and your docs suggest that there’s a special add-on for working with ACF fields.

I can’t find any more information about your addons and prices without logging in – can you confirm whether your ‘translate string’ and acf-addon products are included in your multilingual cms package? Or are there additional charges?

    Thanks! Mike

    • Hi Mike,
both the CMS and Lifetime packages includes all WPML plugins/add-ons.

Please note that you can buy CMS and upgrade to the Lifetime later for the difference in purchase price.

  4. Hey,

I DON’T HAVE ANY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE.

If I buy this plugin, will you help me make my new site multilingual?

    Thanks.

    • Hello, sorry, no discounts. You can buy the CMS subscription first and then upgrade to the Lifetime for the difference in purchase price. This way, you can spend $79 now and pay the difference later (after a few months).

    • I will ask the person in charge to check your status. You should get an email from her directly or I will reply here. Checking…

  5. Hi,
we are a company and just purchased WPML Multilingual CMS (lifetime edition). We paid the VAT (24%), will you reverse that charge?

    • The EU VAT system for Greece is currently not available and therefore we could not apply the reverse-charge.
We need to be able to validate the EU VAT number so that we can apply the reverse charge, currently the system is unavailable and thus we were not able to apply it. The EU VAT validation server is not controlled by us and therefore we can’t provide a date for when it will be back working.

  6. Hello

I would like to buy WPML plugin for my new shoppingwebsite

    I have question please ?

I want to use English and Arabic (both)
I want to upload mo & po files
Beacuse I want to translate all buttons and theme text
Do I have to buy Multilingual Blog or Multilingual CMS please ?
beacus I see Translate texts in theme and plugins admin Different !

Can you help me please ?

    GREETING
    Maho

    • Hello, you need the Multilingual CMS subscription. It includes addition WPML plugins (add-ons) that allow you to translate all strings including buttons. If you want to translate your WooCommerce products the Multilingual CMS subscription is also required. Please check if your theme is compatible with WPML.

      https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

If your site will be in Arabic it is also good to choose a theme that supports RTL. When you will be buying a theme, please check if it is RTL ready.

    • Hello

I could not see my theme in list of themes currently certified by WPML

Is it possible WPML Multilingual CMS not work in my theme ?

      Greeting
      Maho

      • You will be able to trasnlate pages, posts, categories, menu – these elements should work without any problems. You might run into some issues when translating custom theme options.

    • I have mo and po files in Arabic ( theme already in English )

and theme support RTL ( also if LTR its okay )

but I need to translate main page and buttons and products
(all mo and po files I have it )

I want visitors can switch between English and Arabic

      Thanks

      • Do you use WooCommerce for products? If so, WPML will help here. Translating buttons depends on your theme. If your theme is not compatible with WPML it might be challenging, but not necessarily. It is hard to say anything without playing around with the theme.

  7. Hello!

I hope you are doing great.

I would like to know if I can upgrade my license from a Blog to a Lifetime please.

    Thank you!

    – CD

    • Hi Carlos, yes you can (for the difference in purchase price) – you will see relevant options in your WPML account.

  8. Hello,

I need WPML for my website but confused which package should buy. I need WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML Media, WPML String Translation, WPML Translation Management. Kindly suggest which package have all these plugins.

    Thanks

    • Hello,
WPML Media, WPML String Translation, WPML Translation Management are included in the CMS and in the Lifetime packages. You can start with the CMS one and upgrade to the Lifetime later for the difference in purchase price.

  9. Hi,

I evaluating to do my site ML. I would really appreciate if you clarify if the WPML can be set up in 1 WP installations. Sorry for the basic question but i read the documentation and I understand the languages will be in subfolder or subdomain and as far as i understand i will need a WP Multisite for this?

I will be buying the lifetime license and using also the multiple currencies support for WooCommerce.

    Thanks.

    • WPML works in a single WP installation. The subdirectories are virtual (transparent for you), WPML will take care of them, you don’t need to do anything extra.

Yes, to manage your WooCommerce site (with currencies), you need to buy the CMS or the Lifetime version.

  10. Hello,

I’m interested to purchase the Multilingual Blog. I read its features, but I’d like to know if I’ll able to translate the text of my contact form with this license.

    Thank,

    • Hi Pedro,

you might not be able to translate your contact form with the basic (Blog) subscription. It depends on the form you use but most likely you will need the CMS version. But you can start with the Blog and if it turns out that you need to upgrade to the CMS, you can do it easily from your WPML account for the difference in purchase price. In that case you will just install some extra modules, if needed.

  11. Hello !

I am currently looking for a translator specialized in the musical world. My client is a boy’s choir in Belgium. The translations should be made from French to Ducth, German, English and Spanish.
The CEO asks a high quality translation for all information posted. What’s warranty do you grant for this ?

    D.

    • Hello,
WPML doesn’t translate you contents automatically but when used with the “Translation management” add-on (included in the “Multilingual CMS and in the “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” subscriptions) integrates with external professional services so you can send your posts and pages to professional translators and next get your translations back, everything directly from your WordPress site.

I cannot say much about the translators from other services but the translators working for ICanLocalize (part of our company) are native speakers for a given language and you should be able to find one who specializes in the music field.

      Please check the details here:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/

  12. hi,

I just want to make sure, by buying the Multilingual CMS Lifetime package, will we get all the available addons to WPML for lifetime without extra or any recurring fees?

    Best wishes,
    Aron

    • That’s correct. All WPML plugins that we have ever released are available in the Multilingual CMS Lifetime package. You pay once and can use them all forever, including future releases.

  13. I’m looking at using WPML for a blog site, but I’m unsure if it will work the way we require.

I understand that I can create a single post and then translate that post into separate languages. Our root language is English and most posts will be made there and translated – however some posts would not require an English version and may have another language as the root. Posts whose content is territory specific, essentially.
    Can WPML handle this?

Secondly, we would like to use sub-domains as a way of distinguishing which content should be displayed, however we’re using a hosted service and a reverse proxy to point at it, so WP itself isn’t immediately aware of the subdomain it’s on. We can pass this information as a header which is then picked up in the server scope – so would it be possible for the plugin to use?

    • Hello Gary,

      Part 1
Yes, WPML can handle this. You can both 1. leave certain posts untranslated and 2. let some of your posts exist without the original post in your primary language

      Part 2
Let me consult that part with our developers but I’m not sure if I understand what you try to achieve. You say “use sub-domains as a way of distinguishing which content should be displayed” – what do you mean by “distinguishing which content should be displayed”? Can you share some examples?

      • Hi Agnes,

I mean simply that different language content should be displayed on different subdomains. So, de.mydomain.com would display German content and translations. es.mydomain.com would display Spanish, etc.

I do understand that some territories have multiple languages, and so I wonder if there is a separation of content and langauge within the plugin?
e.g. would it be possible to dictate that certain content belongs to say, Canada and should be displayed therefore on the Canadian version of a site, but is then able to be viewed in both English and French. Other French content would not necessarily be viewable, as it relates to France as a territory rather than a language. Hope that makes sense!

        • If your website uses, let’s say, the example-domain.com domain than you can setup WPML to to use either subdomains or subfolders for your languages (these will be virtual subfolders, not physical ones). You however, your website already sits in a subdomain WPML will offer you subfolders only.

WPML operates on languages (not territories), so you can add two French languages: fr (French) and fr-CA (French Canada) and make some of your posts in French to be translated independently or duplicated (meaning the same version will be used for both fr (French) and fr-CA (French Canada))

  14. Hello,

I am interested to know how your wpml premium plugin works with SEO plugins like YoastSEO or AllinonepackSEO dealing with metatags and sitemaps since I dont see anything about it on features.

    Thanks,

    Oliver

  15. Dear Team,

I want to purchase the lifetime WPML CMS. But when i log in my account, you offer me the option to buy an upgrade from Blog to lifetime CMS for $166.

Thanks great, but since, i have a complete new website and I do not want to install the old WPML blog zip file I have downloaded few years ago and upgrade after that.

So, if I purchase the lifetime CMS upgrade, i can install it in my website without having to install my old WPML blog plugin?

    Thanks
    Moez

    • Hello,
      let me explain.
Multilingual Blog, Multilingual CMS and Multilingual CMS Lifetime are subscriptions (membership packages) not plugins.

All of the above subscriptions let you download/use the same WPML plugin, called “WPML Multilingual CMS”. If you upgrade to the Multilingual CMS and Multilingual CMS Lifetime this plugin won’t change. What will change – in your WPML accounts you will see additional WPML plugins and if you upgrade to the Multilingual CMS Lifetime you will have access to them forever.

      • Hi Agnes,

To make it short: can i download the WPML upgrade blog to CMS and install it in my new website from scratch, meaning that the website have no any WPML installed at all.

        Thanks
        Moez

  16. Hello again Agnes,

I am back to purchase the CMS edition but i am not being reimbursed for having bought the blog edition previously.

Don’t see any login option here either…

    Please instruct.

    • Hi Mark,
I’m not sure what mean by “i am not being reimbursed” we don’t reimburse. Let me explain. If you have a WPML blog subscription and you want to upgrade it, please log into your WPML account first and you will see your options. If your WPML is active you will be able to upgrade both to the CMS or to the Lifetime account for the difference in purchase price. It will be reflected in the prices you see in your WPML account.

If you previous account already expired your options will vary.

  17. Hello,

Can I upgrade from one year multilingual CMS version to lifetime?
If yes, what is the price for this upgrade?

    Regards
    Pawel

  18. Hi!

I’m already a WPML customer and I have to update the WPML Plugin now. I have a question beacause I bought the $79 plugin and I have seen there are 2 options to update: WPML BASIC ($29) and WPML CMS ($79 again?) I would like to know the better option to me.

I would like to clarify that my web page is an e-commerce.

    Regards, Bruno.

    • Hi Bruno,
If your website uses WooCommerce you will need the WPML CMS subscription. If you don’t want to pay each year you can upgrade to the Lifetime version as well. Please log into your WPML and check which options are available for you.

  19. Hi – I understand you offer discounts or free use of WPML plug-in to charities/not-for-profit organisations. The website we are building for the domain above (under construction) is one such. The Llanwytyd and District History and Arts Centre is a community scale free centre registered with the Charities Commission in the UK with the charity number 1157181. We require WPML to host a Welsh version of this small website. Would you be able to grant discounted or free use of the WPML plug-in?

    Many thanks,

    David

  20. I was wondering how this works before I purchase. Can I set it up so that when a user searches on a search engine in Argentina, for instance, inputs: ‘symptomas de menos vitamina D’, will they find my page on Symptoms of Vitamin D that I’ve translated? Or will my page only be found when a user searches for ‘Symptoms of Vitamin D Deficiency’ in English, but can have the page translated if they wish?

Can my page be set up to be SEO’d for this, so google search results actually provide for the separate page in each language?

    • If you fill out your site with valuable contents and provide good translations as well, Google (and other search engines) will index your contents (for each of your site’s languages separately) and your site will attract organic traffic in these languages. So, if a user types in something in Spanish and your site’s provides the answer on your Spanish subapges, they will get a link to the Spanish version of your site.

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate automatically.

  21. Hi,

I have a default (English) online shopping website. If some one search/access on my website from France/United Arab Emirates etc… they should able to see my website in their Local language (separate URL for each language) and they should have the option to change the website in to English.

Even the check out process they should able to do in their language….So plugin I should use to activate these features……………

    • hello,
this is possible to achieve using WPML.
      1. The the language switcher you insert with WPML will appear on all your pages and will include the languages you have set up.
      2. WPML has a feature (it is disabled by default but you can activate it in WPML settings) to redirect your users to another language based on the language setup in the user’s browser.

  22. Hi,

I can’t seem to find a confirmation of what I am actually looking for in any wordpress plugin. Your plugin is highly recommended but can you please confirm that I can do the following with your plugin :

I have a real estate website and a furniture website with woocommerce. Both templates have predefined contect fields where I can fill in, for instance, the property type “House” or product name “Table”. I am looking for a translation system where I can make a list (like.pot files) but from the content for recurring words or sentences…so I only have to make a list of the translations 1 time instead of having to fill in all the translations over and over again for standard words or sentences I use. So I translate “House” and “TabIe” in this list and these translations will be used when chosing another language. I was testing WPGlobus and Qtranslate for this but not working and they do not translate revolutions sliders and visual composer…

Thank for making it clear for me that your plugin is the way to go 🙂

    • Hi,
WPML can read all strings defined in the po fies and you can translate these strings directly from your WordPress admin (in a WPML screen) and in that case you need to translate a given string only once but apart from this feature there is no specific place in WPML settings where you define reoccurring translations.

WPML works with revolution sliders and Visual Composer.

  23. Hello,

I have a client that that has decided that he would like his English site to also be available in Spanish and Chinese? I have read many reviews and your plugin always come to the top of the list.

I believe that I need to purchase the Multilingual CMS plugin. Is this correct?
I also have never installed one of these and need to give an estimated time it takes to install the plugin and have the site up and running. Sorry I know it hard one to answer.

    • Hello,

The “Blog” subscription works only for simple blog websites, meaning you won’t be able to translate additional strings such as theme options, button labels etc so for a brochure/company website you should use the “CMS” subscription. Please choose a theme that is compatible with WPML to make sure you will translate all pieces of your websites.

It takes a few minutes to install and configure WPML. But please note that this is only a small part of the entire process of making a websites multilingual. Once your WPML plugin is installed you need to translate your content. It takes time.
