  1. Hi,

As a web marketing agency, I want to offer translation option to my clients. I work with a network of qualified translators. My question is how can I manage translation workflow with internal translators with your plugin? Does it work the same way as your professional translation option?

Also if I want to install your plugin on multiple websites of our clients, how does it work?

    Thanks

  2. also,

is it possible to influence the language displayed to the user, for example if the user is using a french browser the french version gets automatically displayed.

If yes how do we do it with your plugin?

    • Yes, this is possible in a way – WPML has an option (you will find it in WPML settings) to detect the user language set in her browser and automatically redirect the user to this language. Of course we recommend including the language switcher anyway.

  3. Hello WPML,

So I got a few questions before I go ahead and buy your plugin, I was hoping for a trial or something similar, but does not seem like you have that?

Anyways, I’m putting up a new website, the website will be in different countries and the url’s should be domain.com/ca/ domain.com/uk/ etc. this seems to be available in your plugin. The tricky part, each of my pages and blog on each country are not the same, so the pages and post’s should not just be translated but will be completely different, is this possible?

And can I do the same slug but for different countries?

Is it possible to set a static homepage for .com and .com/ca/ and .com/ca/ and so on?

    • Hello Jasper,
yes, you can display diffrent content for your pages and you can even have diffrent set of pages for each of your language version, WPML allows that.

Yes, you can do the same slug for different countries, this is also possible with WPML.

And yes, you can set a static homapage of each of your subsites. You create a regular WP page and make it your front-page in your WordPress settings. Then you translate this page using WPML.

  4. Hello,
are you able to provide for our company any discount, like a discount for your customers?
Because we are successors of of our WEB designer who made the site for our company, but got very serious health problems.
Till recent time for us had worked registration code for WPML Multilingual CMS / WPML String Translation left by him.
But now these plugins are asking to purchase subscription.
Details and proofs I’m be able to provide in E-mail.

  5. Good Morning,

I am thinking to migrate a WP website to a new theme. At the same time I think about switching from WPGlobus to WPML. What is the simpliest method to migrate the bilingual blog, which also contains Photos.
    Regards

    • Hi Mike,
I’m sorry but we don’t have any migration plugins from WPGlobus to WPML so you will need to do the work manually. If translated posts/pages are kept by WPGlobus as regular posts/pages you don’t need to remove them, just to pair them again after activating WPML.

  6. Hi, the 25% VAT that you add on the invoice, is that Swedish VAT (I live in Sweden) or is it HongKong VAT? I need to know for my accounting.
    regards

  7. Hello,

I have a question. If right now I have a web page on test domain – subdomain (example: test.mydomain.com), and later we will migrate to main one, what should I write into field “Add new domain”, this test domain or main? Or If I will add the test (subdomain) should I change then to main or id doesn’t matter?

    Best regards,
    Maris

    • Hello,
you can register both of your sites (the test one and the production one). You register websites to get automatic updates. If one of your websites that uses WPML isn’t registered it will continue working fine but you will need to upload and upgrade your plugins manually.

    • Hello,
      WPML doesn’t translate automatically.
If you use WPML for your multilingual site, you have three options to translate your contents:

      1. Do this manually – copy from the documents your customer has provided and paste translations directly into your WordPress.
      2. Create WordPress account for your own translators and send your content to them (through the WPML Translation Management module and/or via XLIFF files)
      3. Send your content to a professional translation (you pay extra for this). Completed translations appear automatically in your site. No manual work is needed.

  8. Hello,

I’m working on a WooCommerce website and want to have a multi-lingual and multi-currency support. I have a few questions:

    1) Does WPML do “automatic” translation (using third-party services) or manual only? We prefer automatic translation.
    2) How does WMML deal with the currency conversion? Does it have a functionality where it “talks” to a third-party currency conversion service in real-time? Because that’s what we’re trying to achieve.
    3) Will there be an automatic currency switching depending on current country selection? Like if a customer’s language is Spanish, Peso should be the store currency.

    Thank you,

    Fred

  9. Hello,

i bought Multilingual CMS Lifetime. Do i can use your translator for all my sites, builds in word press? Is it free or i need to pay some taxes for you for each site?

    • Hello,
you can use WPML for all your websites. Please note that WPML is not a translator, it doesn’t translate your content automatically. Now, when you have a WPML account you can ask your question on our support forum.

  10. Hi,
Since my theme support your plugin, I am interested in purchasing it. However, I have some questions before I make a decision:
    1. How does your plugin works? Should I understand code writing?

    2. Should I transalate content by myself? If yes, what if I do not know a language that I want to show my customers (Any solutions except for paying for a translator)?

    3. Which languages do you support, couls you please list them?

    4. Do you support traditional Chinese?

    5. how long time should I wait for customer service to reply if I have questions?
    Thanks!

    • Yes, it does. WPML works with WooCommerce but using WooCommerce is optional and you can use WPML for regular websites as well.

  11. Hello!!!

Can I have a free trial plugin for some days? I want to buy a “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” versión but before I’d like to test it because i need to be sure that the plugin will work correctly.

I need to translate a theme with content builder, projects, video gallery, etc. I have tested a Weglot plugin and worked perfectly but is very expensive. I need to find another solution.

    Thank you very much!!!!

    • Hello Juan,
We don’t have a free trials but for users who don’t want to risk their money we have a refund policy. It allows you to test WPML for 30 days and during that probation time you can even ask questions on our support forum.

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically.

  12. Hi, i want to buy a Multilingual CMS version. But I have one question. in this version I understand that after one year the support will end.
But after one year the plugin stops working and the translation does not work anymore?

    Best regards

    • Hello,
WPML will continue working fine even if your subscription expires. You will lose access to future releases and our support help – as you mentioned. You will be able to upgrade to the Lifetime version for the difference in purchase price. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically.

  13. Hello,
I want to translate my website with wpml but i´m not shure if the cheapest version (29usd – multilingual blog) will be enough to this.
If I start buying first licence and after it, I want to upgrade, is it possible (for example pay the diference 79-29=40 usd?
Or I need to buy another full license (79usd)?
    Thanks.

    • Hello,
yes, you can start with the “Blog” subscription and upgrade to the “CMS” later if needed, for the difference in purchase price. You will be able to do this easily from your WPML account.

  14. Hello,

I develop multilingual support for wpdating pluging (website of plugin: wpdating.com) and I would like to test wpml capabilities for this purpose as I already tested g-Translate X.

    1. Do I need to purchase wpml for testing its compatibility with wpdating plugin? May I test it for free?
    2. Do you have any experience of testing wpml with wpdating? If yes, can you please share with me your URL where I can find it?
    3. Does wpml support a mechanism for translation of email notification messages (user registration, password recovery, user profile approval etc.) sent by WordPress and its plugins? If yes, can you please share with me your URL where I can find it?
    4. How wpml deals with PO/MO files and where I can find its description? Does wpml builds its own database for translation or I should use PO/MO files?

    Thank you.

    • Hello Roman,

      1. Yes, you need to purchase WPML. In case it turns out that it doesn’t for you, use our refund policy and we will refund your order. You have 30 days to test WPML.
      2. No, we don’t. Our Compatibility Team didn’t test this plugin.
      3. It depends on how these notifications are implemented in your theme/plugin but since we didn’t test the wpdating plugin you can consider these features not available.
      4. You can either use the translations from your PO/MO files or you can set up WPML to upload all these strings to appear in a WPML screen and manually provide the translation through a WPML panel.

      • Thank you for your prompt respond.

There are still few questions to be clarified.

        3. For all email notification I implemented “WP Better Emails” plugin. WP Better Emails wraps every “text/plain” email sent with the WordPress function wp_mail(). Please advise if “WPML” is compatible with “WP Better Emails” and will translate into other languages my email notification messages sent trough “WP Better Emails”. My default language is English.

        4. Can I import PO/MO files to “WPML” If all my strings already translated by PO/MO files or I need to put my translation into “WPML” manually?

        5. Are there a mechanism to import/export PO/MO files from/to “WPML”?

        6. Can you share with me demo link and doc how string translation works in “WPML” and how I can add/edit/view “WPML” string translation database?

        Thank you.

        • 3. This plugin wasn’t tested by our compatibility team so probably it won’t work with WPML.
          4. yes you can import your “po” file. Please see this screenshot and read more in this doc
          5. Yes, see my answer above.
          6. We don’t have any free demo but our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

  15. Hi,
I am studying as a in design and web and would like to use your plugin for a class module until the next few months.
It will not be a live site, it will be a test site for our lecturers to grade us on design and implementation. So there will be no traffic..

The hope is to design a site for a client in future (as part of our class project)

Is it possible get months worth of a trial for our class module until we get graded?
    Can you mail me please.

    Pete

    • Hello Pete,
if you represent a school you can apply for a free subscription for non-profits. But it takes a while to get one – the waiting queue is long. You can always buy a WPML subscription. Our licensing system allows you to buy only one WPML subscription and use it for all your sites. Unfortunately we don’t have any free trials, if somebody wants to test WPML, we suggest buying it keeping our refund policy in mind which allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

  16. Soon our website will transition to WordPress and we need Multisite as well as Multilanguage, so WPML is one of the first options to consider. We as well would like:
    • Authors/Publishers/Rights Management to easily publish or copy posts to various Multisite subpages
    • Automatic or selective posting to Social Media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
    • Social features (BuddyPress)?
I would like to ask if such WP Multisite + WPML + otherPlugins websites are active as examples to inspect online and more interesting to understand how it is setup and working in the BackEnd.
Feel free to email me examples etc.
    Thank you

    • Hello,
WPML works in WordPress Multisite. Authors and Editors can use WPML to copy posts to various Multisite subpages (you need only one WPML subscription).

As it comes to compatibility with other plugins – here’s a list of plugins tested by our Compatibility Team. WPML can be used with BuddyPress as well.

The only way to test WPML is to buy it with our refund policy in mind.

Here you can see some example websites built with WPML.

  17. Hello,

I am looking at options for a currency switcher, having used WPML on other sites I am familiar with the setup but I’ve never used the currency switcher before.

I am essentially looking to hide certain products if a specific currency is selected. The only currencies I plan on using are EUR and GBP, but not all products are available in GBP, will this plugin give me the ability to

    1) Auto detect Currency based on location
    2) Hide the required products from the shop when GBP is selected

    Regards,
    Gary.

    • Hello Gary,

      to answer your question
      1. possible
      2. I’m not sure if it counts but only the following setup is possible: you can not translate some of your products to the language that is connected with a given currency and this way to hide them. So assume your site is available in Spanish with the EUR currency set up and in English (GBP). If you don’t translate certain products to Spanish, they won’t appear when a user switches to EUR/Spanish version of that site. WPML also lets you have some products in Spanish without their counterparts in English.

  18. Hello,

Our website is programmed in wordpress in appearance–> Editor–> page.php, header.php, …. Is it possible to translate these texts with wpml?

    Thank you!

    Greetings,
    Niel Nijns

    • If the texts in the theme are wrapped in GetText calls, you will be able to translate them with WPML. The idea is that most of your content will be in pages and posts and the PHP files will only include small texts. Then, you will be able to run a complete multilingual site with WPML. If the theme includes massive texts in the PHP, you’re likely to have problems translating the site.

  19. Hi, I’m trying to convince an existing web design client to move from an old version of qTranslate to a lifetime licence of WPML as I know it’s much better for them. Do you have any discount codes available at the moment that I may be able to tempt them with in order to get them to move?

    Thanks
    David
