Hi, i’m a website developer using wordpress.
Many clients are asking me to implement multilingual feature.
My question is. May i buy a “Multilingual CMS” plugin solution and use it for all the sites i’m developing?
I have one question. After translating the website and it’s pages may we manually change the translations if required. Example one page translated in chinese and then our chinese person say that the one sentence is not appropriate due to any reason and then we want to change the one sentence manually. So we may be able to do it?

A new client wants a WP website with WPML- Should I create a new account for each client or can I buy multiple licences within one account. Or do I only need to buy WPML once and use it for all our clients?

We are investigating if a Multi Site better suits our requirements.
We like to do a test a WordPress Multi Site in combination with WPML.
And we want to do that test on a local installation of a WordPress Multi Site (on XAMPP), in combination with WPML.
The Multi Site is up and running on the local machine using XAMPP but now we need a Site Key in order to get WPML running on the local (test) installation.
Question: where can we find a Site Key for this purpose?
Our website was build by an external company. The guy from this company told us that it is not possible to generate a key for a local installation (using XAMPP).
On the other hand, he also told us that we simply could install WPML without a key just for a test.
And if we do so then we don’t receive updates.
Well, updates for this test (just to test the combination Multisite/WPML) are not needed.
So for now, we are happy.
We could continue install WPML local for test purposes and it all seem to work.

The Multilingual CMS includes all of WPML’s components (with everything you need for multilingual WooCommerce sites). You can buy it in two ‘variants’. A yearly account that costs $79 and you can renew annually for $39. Or, a Lifetime account that costs $195 and requires no renewal.

the basic ($29) subscription includes only the main WPML plugin which allows you to translate basic elements of your site: pages, posts, categories, tags, menus. If you plan to use WPML for a simple, like a blog, it will suffice. If your theme however includes additional elements/strings that need to be translated, for example, sliders, custom options, widgets, etc. you will need additional modules which are included in the CMS (and/or Lifetime) subscription (for example the WPML String Translation module).
Please note, that you can start with the Blog subscription and if it turns out that you need some extra WPML modules, you can easily upgrade to the CMS version for the difference in purchase price.

I’d like to buy the lifetime version, but I see that there is VAT included. I have a european VAT number, how can we take it in account, and remove the VAT form the invoice ?
This looks like exactly the type of plugin I need, but I can’t find any information on how the translation will be delivered.
Is there a way to add a toggle button – so vistors could choose whether they saw the english or spanish version? Does the plugin instead create multiple domains (which would possibly have negative effects on SEO)?

1. WPML doesn’t translate your page automatically. You need to provide the translations or you can use one of the professional translation services integrated with WPML.
2. The “toggel button” you are asking about is called a language switcher in WPML and WPML will generate it based on the languages you added.
3. WPML won’t create any domains automatically. For each of your languages you can select between:
Different languages in directories – like wpml.org/es/ for Spanish and wpml.org/de/ for German.
A different domain per language – sub-domains like es.example.com / de.example.com or completely different domains like ejemplo.es / beispiel.de.
Language name added as a parameter – like wpml.org?lang=es for Spanish.

you should be able to “translate” your logo as well but details will depend on how the logo was implemented in your theme and if your theme is compatible with WPML. It is likely you will need the “WPML String translation” add-on (included in the CSM or Lifetime subscription) to translate your logo, which comes down to providing the url of your logo in the other language.

in that case you don’t need WPML. You just need to translate your theme and other strings coming from your plugins. Best would be to check if your theme/plugin includes the so called po/mo files. Some themes/plugins already have these strings translated. If not, you can translate them using the Poedit editor or a dedicated plugin.

We have translated po/mo files of two Chinese(China has two different languages) and Korean. I would like to know what are required for Asian sites if there are any. Do we need extra plugins or extensions for Ignitiondeck and Asian languages?
And if we plug WPML in our site and develop three different languages simultaneously in a single site is there any known issues we have to consider such as performance, stability and maintenance etc…?

thank you for your interest in WPML. There are no specific requirements for Asian sites. You just need to add your languages. WPML supports both Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
We don’t provide anything specific for Ignitiondeck. WPML allows you to create pages and posts in other languages and also translate strings coming from your theme/plugins.
As it comes to performance/maintenance. Developing three instead of two different languages simultaneously won’t make any significant difference. If you run into any performance issues, you will need to create a support ticket and we will need to investigate your specific case since your site performance might depend on many factors.

if you have the translation, you just need to copy paste it into your WordPress. When setting up your WPML, add the Chinese languages. WPML supports both Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

You should be able to translate pages, posts, menus, categories, tags without any issues but you might have issues with translating custom elements coming from this theme, such as theme options, sliders (if any), etc.

I have one question.. Is it possible to have a different menu or not appear a post in some specific languages? For example i want to add a page on the menu next to “Home” and “About Us” with a “cost calculator”. But i want it to appear in all languages except the default one. Is it possible?
