  1. Hi, I have web theme Minus from Thrive Themes. Is your plugin fully compatible with the theme? Is it better first instal WPML or the Theme?
    Best regards
    Ivan

    • Hello Ivan,
I cannot neither this theme nor the company in our Theme Compatibility list: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

which means that this theme wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team. If you want to test it yourself, you can buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind which allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk. It doesn’t matter if you activate WPML or your theme first. You can switch the theme later as well.

  2. Hi! I’m a new wordpress theme’s developer and I’m building a new theme. I would like to know if I can include the 195 $ Wpml version in my theme package for selling in themeforest.
    Thanks,
    Giorgio

  3. Buenos días!

Utilizo una plantilla hermes como esta http://www.sobretupiel.com/ . Tengo problemas para traducir elementos como el “Read More”, incluso tocando el código. Me gustaría saber si con WPML me será posible realizar una traducción total de la plantilla.

    Muchísimas gracias.

    Un saludo

  4. I would like to use the tool for a wordpress page.
My question: We need the page for a translation into native language.
Can the machine translated text be corrected manually before publication or be corrected? Many Thanks

    • WPML doesn’t translate the content for you and doesn’t have machine translation. With WPML, you can translate yourself or send content to translation services.

  5. Hi there,

We are a non-profit company and are currently using the great WPML plugin.
We would like to offer our users to be able to download a clone of our bilingual site to roll out their own version. In doing so, they would be downloading the WPML plugin in the zipped file. Just wondering how that would work? Would they be using our registration? or would they need to pay extra costs to get the WPML plugin activated? Would they receive a basic version if they don’t purchase the full WPML suite?

    Your help is appreciated.

    • You can use WPML for sites that you build for yourself or for others. However, you should not offer WPML for distribution. When you use WPML for new sites, you should register them on wpml.org. These registrations are only possible using your account access (which is private to you and you’re not supposed to allows others to login to your account).

      • That’s great! thank you for your reply Amir. We currently have the $195 subscription. Just wondering how many websites we can register with our account?

  6. I live in Nigeria. Can wpml translate the ‘Yoruba’ as a language because I can’t find it on your list of languages available

    • WPML doesn’t translate for you. It allows you to build a site in several languages. You can translate yourself or send content to translation services. You can use any language with WPML. Yoruba isn’t part of WPML’s list of languages, but that’s not a problem. You can add it to the site via WPML->Languages->Add Language.

  7. Hi, want to buy the plugin, but always getting this error message “Failed to authorize: Invalid CC Number (Issuing Bank).

    Could someone help me? Thanks.

    • We don’t know why sometimes credit card payments don’t go through. In our checkout page, you can select to pay via PayPal or 2checkout. If one fails, can you try the other?

    • The support ticket that you’re referring to has a solution. Have you seen it at the top of the ticket? If your account has expired, you can log-in to wpml.org. This will not allow you to download WPML, but it will allow you to renew your account at a discount. If you cannot log-in, there’s a password-reset link in the login page.

      • we can’t get hold to the WPML account, the agency in charge has not extended the WPML licence and probably deleted the account all together. we don’t want to update to the newest version, just want the bug of your version to be fixed and get some feedback on this issue, maybe you can provide us with an expired account with which we can access the forum.

    • The content is exactly the same. The first option is a yearly account, which gives you updates and support for one year. Afterwards, you can renew for additional years at a discount. The Lifetime option gives you access to downloads and support for life, without paying yearly renewal fees.

  8. Hi team WPML,

I got this request from a client to create a multilingual site and maybe there are going to be more of such requests.

Is it allowed that I buy the lifetime license, the license then will be on my business account. And that I implement WPML on sites I build for my clients? Are they covered under this lifetime license, which will be on my name (and they remain my clients)?

Or do I need a separate licence for every new client?

Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Brigitte

    • Hello Brigitte,
thank you for you interest in WPML. Yes, both the CMS and the Lifetime licences allow you to use WPML on all your sites. So it works exactly how you expect – the WPML acount is run on your name but you can use it for many customers.

  9. Hi team WPML,

About 40 minutes ago or so, I posted a question. It remained ‘waiting for moderation’ and now it is gone, without an answer to my question. Can you help me out?

    Thanks

    • Hello Brigitte,
your question was waiting for moderation. I have just replied (we don’t work on the weekend). Thank you for your patience.

    • Hello Nicole,
It won’t and it’s not recommended. Search engines (Google) need to know what is the language of each page and they will try to determine it. If you provided mixed content it becomes impossible.

  10. Hi!
I am interested to switch from Polylang to WPML but I want to make sure that
    1. I can install the plugin and use it on WP.com
    2. When I translate a blog post the translation does not get emailed again to all my followers. This has happened with Polylang and it was very embarrassing. I usually write my posts in English, then I add translations as requested by the audience in certain countries. When I added the Romanian version to one of the old English posts it emailed automatically everyone on my followers’ list – BAD!
If you could clarify these two things for me, I would greatly appreciate
    Thanks much in advance

    • Hello ALice,
vast majority of WPML users use WPML on self-hosted websites. I’m not familiar with the specifics on how wp.com works and if it allows you to install custom plugins. If it does, WPML should work.

Are you sure it was Polylang that was sending these notifications to your readers? For sure WPML doesn’t send any emails when you translate your content but maybe you have another plugin installed that sends emails when a new post is published.

Anyway, you are welcome to migrate from Polylang to WPML and we have a plugin that will help you to do so:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/migrate-polylang-wpml/

  11. Hi There,

My client purchased your plugin, and upon moving the site to another folder on the server, we encountered lost or changed translations on some of the pages.

How we can avoid that happen, is there any way?
The theme we use is Divi.

    Thanks,
    Judit

    • Hello Judit,
Please note that moving a WordPress-based website isn’t just a simple movement from one folder to another (it doesn’t matter if the site uses WPML or not). Many URLs are stored in the database and the new path needs to be reflected for all of them.

First we need to understand exactly has been done from a technical point of view. Please open a ticket in our support forum https://wpml.org/2016/06/polylang-wpml-importer/ and one of our supporters after investigation your site will explain what happened, why and what to do to avoid such issues in the future.

  12. Hello,

I amb planning to buy your WPML plugin for a WordPress website and I have a few questions:

The website will be in 3 different languages.

    1. Does WPML detect the IP of the visitors and open the website in the language of their country automatically?
    2. Does WPML detect the language of the navigator (Google, Bing, etc.) and open the website in the language of their navigator automatically?
    3. To do all of these is included in the 195€ price? Or will have I to buy more plugins?

    Thanks a lot!

    Mercè

    • Hello Mercè,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
      To answer your questions.
      1. No, it doesn’t but such a feature is often overvalued by users. Please note that the reason to make your site multilingual is to attract organic traffic from search engines. If your site includes high quality content, it will be presented to the user by the search engine immediately in the user’s language.
      2. It works a little bit different. The pages of you website get indexed in search engines (Google, Bing, etc) and it is the search engine who decides which specific page will be shown to the user to match his/her query.
      3. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. It only allows you to make your WordPress site multilingual. You insert translations or you can send your posts/pages to one of the professional translation services integrated with WPML.

  13. Hello,

I am about to purchase a license though before I decide which plan, I would like to know whether if I purchase the Multilingual CMS and decide to upgrade to lifetime, will the lifetime still cos $195, same as new purchase, or can it be purchased at a discount?

    Best regards,
    Paul

    • Hello Paul,
Thanks for your interest. If you buy the CMS subscription now you can then upgrade to lifetime for the difference (116$ more). Take into account we are planning to remove the lifetime subscription in some weeks, but don’t worry because we will let you know before doing it so that you can upgrade if you haven’t done so yet.

      Kind regards,

      • Hi there,
I read that you are planning to remove the lifetime subscription. What does it mean? Because I was interested in buying it right now. But what will change? Will you introduce different packages?
        thank you

        • Hello,
We are planning to remove the lifetime subscription only and introduce automatic updates. The lifetimemversion is still available and will be for the next several weeks. If you buy now nothing will change for you. Also if you buy the yearly subscription now we will let you know before removing the lifetime offer so that you can upgrade if you are interested.

          Hope this helps!

  14. Hello,

I am doing a little of research on multilingual plugin for a job and i wonder if your pluggin can work on specific page and leave other in just one language.

And if its possible to adjust the content on multi language. Like if i want a particular info in French, hide that information in mandarin and change that info in English ?

    Thanks for your help
    Luc

  15. Hi!
We have build our bend web site in 2010 and translate it with WPML. We don’t update it with new content any more. I also don’t visit it very often, but now I realise, that english translations are not working any more. My account has expired, so I don’t know what to do.
Can you explain me situation and suggest solution?

    Thanks in advance
    Bojan

      • Hello Agnes,
I just want to know, if I want to have my page translated (with old translations), I need to have subscription?
Even if I don’t add new content and I don’t need new translations?
        Seems little bit pricey.
        Regards

        • No, you don’t need an active subscription to see translations. But from what I understood something is not working correctly on your site. If you want our supporters to help you find the cause of the problem, you need to have an active subscription. Otherwise you won’t be able to open a ticket in our support forum.

  16. Hello, i am about to buy the WPML subscription. My location is the Canary Islands where to do not pay 21% VAT even though we are part of the EU. How can we solve this?

  17. Hello,
I am considering to buy wpml blog.
If I later decide to update to wpml CMS Lifetime, will I pay just difference?
If yes, also renewals of wpml Blog will be deducted from CMS Lifetime price?

    Thank you
    Erik

    • Hello Erik, yes, for the time being it works exactly how you described. But please note that we may change our pricing model in the future. Before we do so, we will notify our customers in advance. Most likely you will still be able to upgrade from the Blog version to the CMS for the difference in purchase price but Lifetime subscriptions will no longer be available.

  18. Hi, I’ve created a WordPress website with the theme Kalium (https://www.kaliumtheme.com/) which is fully compatible with your plugin. I’m not sure about which plan choosing… Is the basic plan will allow me to translate all the pages and nav (front-end not admin side) ?

Thanks for your answer, it will be well appreciated !

    Elie

    • Hello Elie, if your site is just a simple blog, the Blog subscription should suffice. If you have some additional elements such as sliders, widgets, you use theme options etc, you will need the CMS version. Yes, using WPML you translate your front-end pages, not your admin side.

      • Thanks you very much.

Last question, is it possible to upgrade from a plan to another ? I guess I don’t need more than the Blog Subscription for now but if the needs evolve in the future and that I have to use additional elements as sliders, widgets, …

        Thanks for your answer,
        Elie

  19. Dear WPML employee,
Please check our website. We are looking to translate our website presumably into many languages but priority languages are Spanish, Italian, Afrikaans and Portuguese for right now.
Is our theme/website compatible to make 100% translation?
Will all content be translated, even terms which are more complex? If not how would we go about it?
Will our website better work with CMS or multilingual blog?
What are the costs? And renewal cost?
Once purchase do I need to make translations myself or does your support team do it? (cost?)

Any other information you think I need to know?
I would please like to call and speak to a representative if possible.
    Thank you
    have a good day
    Refards
    Dané

    • Hello Dané,
thank you for your interest in WPML.

      1. Is our theme/website compatible to make 100% translation?
Yes, you will be able to translate even more complex elements provided your theme is compatible with WPML and you have at least the CMS subscription. This page will help you check your theme compatibility. https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

      2. You can see the prices here:
      https://wpml.org/purchase/

last row (Account renewal per year ) displays the renewal price

      3. You provide the translations or you can send you content to professional translation services integrated with WPML (you do it via our WPML interface, you need to have the WPML Translation Manager plugin installed, it’s available in the CMS or Lifetime package). The prices depend on the service.

    • Hi Agnes,
Which translation service would you recommend me to use ? We are looking to translate our website into the following languages; Spanish, Italian, Afrikaans and Portuguese.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated
      Thanks
      Dane

  20. Hello,
impossible to post a ticket on your support so i try here.
I bought WPML MULTILINGUAL BLOG but it’s not enough for my website.
    I need to translate Woocommerce.
Is it possible to have a discount to buy WPML MULTILINGUAL CMS because i was wrong.

    Regards

    Franck

  21. Hi,
I am considering buying WPML but I can´t figure out one thing.

Can I translate with WPML the content of my posts/pages without worring about the site structure? I am concerned that if I change the structure of my website, I would have to change again content translations in every single page.

    Thank you.

    • Hello Oscar,
the idea is to translate only the content, and leave the site structured unaffected. The details will depend on what exactly you translate, how a specific page is built, whether you use page builders etc. Regular pages are easy to translate.
