Thank you for your quick response, David.
Well, at this point (pre WPML) I have to put in the code on every sentence that has punctuation. I checked that both Elementor and Generate Press are supposed to support WPML. Does that mean that the Hebrew part will not need the extra hand-coding. My client will not want to do coding…
Hello Toni,
as long as the theme you use supports RTL, no extra coding is needed. Also, as David explained, the user can select the language of their WP backend.
We are developing a new WordPress site using multisite. Does the “Multilingual CMS” package cover us as it’s all one big site, or do we need to go with the “Multilingual Agency” package as there will be more than 3 sites in the multisite?
Hi, a year ago or so a friend of mine who bought the license for unlimited websites gave me the key and I installed WPML on 2 websites. The first website http://www.keepcalmandtravel.com is my main website and a full-time job so to avoid any mess, I simply uploaded the plugin but I didn’t even start setting it up until yesterday.
The second website, http://www.mysardiniaholidays.com is relatively new (I’m working on its structure right now) so I took the chance to test the WPML plugin in there.
Now I have a dilemma. I can’t always ask my friend to open a ticket if i have an issue or a question so I was thinking about buying my own. So I have 2 questions:
1) All the work I have already done on my second website will be lost or there is a way to just change the key?
2) I see that the option for 3 website has an account renewal of 59$ per year. Is that just for the support/updates or for the whole plugin to work? If it’s just for support/updates, what can possibly happen if I don’t renew it? Can I renew it on a later stage if needed?
Hello Clelia,
Thanks for contacting us about this.
1) Nothing will change while you update the subscription key.
2) If you buy the CMS version and don’t renew you will lose access to updates and support but you can keep using whatever you have already installed on your site.
Only one more question. Yesterday when I was trying to set up WPML on http://www.Keepcalmandtravel.com, when I got to the point to insert the Key, it didn’t let me change the one that was already in there, so when you say “Update the subscription Key”, is there a specific procedure I need to follow or I’m missing a step?
Hello, you should be able to unregister it and then register again. Just press the button. Have you tried it? You can also start a forum thread about it. Maybe there is a bug but it works without issues on my sites.
Thanks Agnes, the thing is… I can’t open a ticket because as I explained on my first message, it was a friend that passed me the key just to test the plugin out and since then I only worked on a new website before passing to work on the main one.
I now was looking again at all the settings and now I can’t even find the step where I should input the key or the button you are talking about. Can you give me a hint of where I should click with the steps to find it? So at least I will know if it’s a bug or not and decide how to proceed.
I haven’t purchased my own license yet because I wanted to make sure I hadn’t to re-do all the setting and string/taxonomies translations (it took me quite a while)
Sorry Agnes maybe I didn’t explain myself clearly on the other message. Given that I have already Installed the WPML plugin with my friend’s license, is it ok to purchase mine and put the new key and then delete the other? Wouldn’t this delete all the settings and translation I have done? Sorry, It’s pretty confusing and given the amount of time I’ve already spent translating everything on the second website especially, I am slightly unsure that deleting the first plugin after buying my own is the right thing to do.
Thanks for further clarifications on how to proceed. I am not super tech savvy, so the more details the better.
Hello,
thanks for clarifying it. Yes, sure, everything will work normally. Changing the key doesn’t affect your WPML settings and transactions at all. You can change the license key anytime.
1-Does WPML compatible with all plugins?
2-Does my theme need to be “Translation Ready”?
3-Is WPML better than translation ready themes? Of so, how?
I apologise beforehand about my question as it is something that I should be able to deduce myself.
What I want to have from using a multilingual plugin is to translate “everything a visitor sees” on the website. This excludes everything an admin sees (e.g. control panels etc.). I want it translated into at least 2 additional languages.
Therefore, my question is: will I be able to translate “everything a visitor sees” on my website by using the “Multilingual blog” pricing plan?
The reason this question arises is that in this pricing plan “Page-builders support”; “Translate custom fields”; “Translate widgets”; “XLIFF interface”; and “CMS navigation Sticky links” are excluded. I do not understand what any of these are, unfortunately. I do hope that none of these is interface related. I am assuming that the remaining elements which are excluded and the word “admin” is present relate to translations not visible by the visitors.
I would greatly appreciate if you could scroll through my website and tell me if Multilingual blog is sufficient. The website is not selling any products, but presents the services we provide and has a News and Publications separate sections.
Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
To be sure that you can translate every single element of your site, the following conditions needed to be fulfilled:
– your theme should be WPML compatible and tested by our Compatibility Team
– in most of the cases, you will need the CMS subscription (Blog is not enough), to be able to translate some extra, non-standard, theme-dependant strings
– the plugins you are using are also WPML compatible.
You can buy the Blog subscription first and in case it turns out that some of your elements require using some of the other WPML modules (WPML String Translation for example), you can upgrade to the CMS plan for the difference in purchase price.
Thank you a thousand times for your precise and exhaustive reply as well as for taking the time to review the information. I will do as advised – I will buy the blog version and, if something is not being translated, I will proceed with upgrading.
We are currently using G-translate for you website however, our Germany partners suggest us to use WPML for importing and exporting translations. Is there a way that we can get a trial of WPML before we decide to pulling the trigger and purchase your plugin.
We are launching our company website and the translation part is a big issue for us. Also is there a support number I can reach you at to discuss my concerns?
Dear Man Mai,
Thanks for your interest. I am afraid we do not offer free trials of WPML. You are welcome to try our plugin and if it does not suit your needs we will refund you. You have until 30 days to do it https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/. You can also ask for help at the forum if you need it.
hello, i bought WPML about 1,5 years ago and installed it on 1 website. Now, I checked that my WPML has expired but the website translation works. I couldnt find informations about the license. Can I still use those files on my website or I need to delete my translations?
Hello Anna,
After the subscription expires you can keep using whatever you have installed on your site but you will no longer receive updates or support.
Hi there,
Since WordPress.com now allows to upload custom plugins (Business plan only), could you tell me if WPML would work with WP.com?
Thank you,
Robin
With the gravity forms translation offered, does that stay with the form if it is duplicated? My use case is a single form that I copy very frequently, and I’m curious if this will make translation simple or if I need to code something myself.
Could you please move this question to our technical support forum? Give me the link to the forum ticket and I’ll send it to the right developer. Please note that almost all our developers will be away until the beginning of January.
We are running an e-commerce (woocommerce) website and are in need of WPML. What version of WPML would we need to buy in order to be able to also be able to use the currency switcher?
You need the “Multilingual CMS” or “Multilingual Agency” accounts. Both include all of WPML’s components, which you will need for WooCommerce sites. The Agency account allows you to build unlimited sites with WPML. The CMS account allows using WPML on three sites.

Hello!
I’m looking for solutions for translate ONLY user interface (without changing the content or duplicating) posts, pages should be displayed in native language.
User must have ability to change interface language from frontend by lang.switcher.
You can add languages to your site and set WPML to display untranslated content. You’ll still need to synchronize menus, but this might be a good thing for you because it will allow you to show the menu system in the current language (translated) and all the content from the site’s default language.
Is this what you’re looking for?
BTW, if you buy WPML, you can try it. If you don’t like how this works, tell us and we’ll refund your order.
So, your provided link says
“WPML allows you to display content, which is written in the site’s default language, when viewing pages in other languages. If a translation exists WPML displays it, otherwise, it displays content from the site’s default language.”
Now i’m buy the plugin and install, then i didnt see the option above, when i switch to other languages i have a message “page can’t be found”
i’m test both options in settings:
how to handle lang without translation:
– skip language
– link to home of language for missing translations
(please dont propose duplication posts for each language, its not acceptable)
You need to set the correct mode to achieve what you’re asking for and you may need to do some work on the menu (depending on how your site’s menu is implemented).
Our support team is almost all away until next week, for Christmas and New Year. If you can open a ticket in our support forum, a supporter will help you get it right. https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
If you’re in a rush and you see that this is too complicated, let me know and I can refund your order.
presale question: I have one website at the moment I have a question I want it to make it multilingual like you have this site here so is this like google translate the user choose the language and translate the website or i have to manually translate the website in each language and what happens to future content o or blog etc? i want to purchase now and install but want to make sure that user select the language of their choice ( website in in english) lets say spanish and all content is translated automatically is this how it works
WPML allows you to add languages to your site and to translate your content. We offer an option for automatic translation via our Advanced Translation Editor. This is still not “one click” translation. Our automatic translation will give you a starting point, from which we recommend that you review translations and make sure that they are correct. Our automatic translation also costs a little bit of money, because Google charges for it (for mass usage).
Hey
We have been using your plugin for a quite a long time already. But recently we faced annoying problem on one of our sites. Now I would like to find out can it be resolved somehow, because our developers told me – the problem is on your site. http://atmajyoti.se I’m talking about that site. We are site developers and the WPML licence for this site – is on our client’s WPML account. I’m contacting you form my own. All plugins on site are up to date.
One of the WPML products – WPML String Translation /Version 2.9.1/ gives an error, when trying to add subscribers via WP admin. “A variable mismatch has been detected.”
Developers told me this problem connected with php headers. We have to disable WPML string, add subscriber and after that again enable the plugin.
Let me know how we can resolve this problem.
Thank you in advance
I’m sure that our supporters can help you troubleshoot and solve this problem. Would you mind posting your support ticket in our technical support forum? https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
WPML allows you to add languages to your WordPress site. Once you translate your content, you allow Google to index it and to return results from your translations.
We administrate the bilingual (English-Greek) eshop caseville.gr
It is developed using Woocommerce & qTranslate-X.
It is connected to other websites that rung as product search engines and for this connection our shop has to regularly export 2 XML files with the woocommerce products data, 1 XML file for each language used.
Given some technical issues with the way qTranslate-X works (and its incompatibility to export separate XML files), we are considering on migrating to WPML.
What we need to know before buying the WPML plugin is:
A. What is the best way to perform this migration without causing a breaking of our website?
B. After purchase & successful migration, will we be able to export separate XML files (eg 1XML for the products in greek, 1XML for the products in english) ?
Thank you
Dimitris M.
administrator of caseville.gr
A. We have qTranslate importer which splits the content of different languages to different posts, allowing your site to run with WPML. Technically products are posts, but there is a lot more data related to those posts, and I’m unable to assure you that all the information will be preserved. This you would need to test yourself. Our expert on this matter is on vacation and will be back right after the new year. If you want, I can get back to you and provide more insight into the import process.
B. Yes, you can export products’ XML files separately per each language
as for A: it would be definitely interesting to learn more about the import process regarding especially a woocommerce setup, so if you or your specialised colleague can send me some links or tutorials, i would be very satisfied.
as for B: it is nice to know that we can export separate XML’s per language as this is the most crucial part than can’t be done right now with the use of qTranslate-X
have a nice year and i will be expecting your support from the new year on..
Hello Dimitris,
I spoke with my colleague this morning about the importing process and on top of the information which you can find in the migration guide, please visit qTranslate-X settings page and hit “save” on every option possible. Then, do the same in the settings of each language.
You must test it on the staging server. Please make sure to create a database copy beforehand.

Flatsome and WPML Compatibility now?
I asked this question about two months ago, your answer was the project at work, and large parts already match. We prefer to wait if there are still system errors.
Thanks for reaching out.
Flatsome is using a page builder called UX builder, which still needs to be integrated with WPML. Our goal is to have a smooth translation process.
This is the current status:
1. We have some reported issues with WooCommerce (they are being handled)
2. We have another on-going project with their page builder. I’ve requested an update to the developer in charge of it, when I hear back from him, I’ll update you here.
Note that I also pushed the priority of all the tickets we have related to Flatsome.
As promised, a little update from our developer in charge of Flatsome compatibility with WPML:
“The author is working on them. And we’re actively helping clients when they have issues with this. So the client can use Flatsome with WPML as we are fixing some latest stuff.”
By your reply, it appears WPML+Elementor is the primary tutorial to follow and the WPM+Astra tutorial is provided if one does not use Elementor *page builder* (no doubt same situation for beaver builder etc…)
I have gone ahead and purchased WPML. The welcome package provided the required components (plugins). Once WPML installed, as per the welcome package instructions provided: from the WP dashboard I was able to obtain site specific instructions… which also pointed to WPML+Elementor. clear and concise.
Documentation package and online support is very good and responsive
The translation manager is a nice tool – very intuitive – streamlines workflow / organization / assign “translation jobs” to internal members or outside services…
String translation – is a bit daunting at first – do to the “getinfo” structure (per forum replies researched)
As others have pointed out it would be wonderful if a Front end only filter existed, since the string translation includes both front and back end strings. Our simple brochure website lists 145 pages of strings. Workaround is to copy paste the String name, but, a concise list of translatable strings would be preferable — further research required to determine most effective method
Thanks for your taking the time to write a nice feedback, we always learn a lot from clients.
I’ve forwarded your suggestion about String Translation to our WPML developers team. I think it’s a good suggestion to be able to sort them a little bit better.
Happy Holidays season to you, thanks again for your time!
Marine
Yes it does include access to the ATE. New sites that start using WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor receive a free quota of 2000 words. This is roughly 5 pages with a medium amount of content to give you an estimate. As we pay for it, we have to charge for it if you exceed 2000 words.
More info about the pricing can be found in this article: https://wpml.org/2018/12/machine-translation-quotas-for-wpmls-advanced-translation-editor/
Hi, I have a WPML CMS 3.6.2 license and I wanted to update to WPML CMS 4.1.3, but my account has expired.
So, I was prompted to renew my account, but it doesn’t let me update to the CMS license, but only to the feature limited “BLOG”-license? What happened? I need the full feature set. I’m sure that I never downgraded from the full CMS license. Please advise.
Your expired account is of type “Multilingual Blog” (expired Dec 2016). After you log-in to your account, you should see a link at the top-right of your account page, to upgrade or renew your account. There, you will see the different upgrade options. If you’re not seeing this, please send an email to our admins at hello@wpml.org, so they can help with your upgrade.
Thank you for your quick response, David.

Hello Toni,
as long as the theme you use supports RTL, no extra coding is needed.
Hello John,
The CMS version will be enough to register the multisite.

Thanks Mercedes
Only one more question. Yesterday when I was trying to set up WPML on http://www.Keepcalmandtravel.com, when I got to the point to insert the Key, it didn’t let me change the one that was already in there, so when you say “Update the subscription Key”, is there a specific procedure I need to follow or I’m missing a step?
Thanks again!

Hello,
thanks for clarifying it.
Of so, how?

Hello Andre,
In general terms WPML will work well with any theme/plugin which was coded following WordPress standard.
What specific plugins and theme are you referring to? Here is a list of the plugins we have tested
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
and here of the themes
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
Hope this helps!
Dear WPML team,
I apologise beforehand about my question as it is something that I should be able to deduce myself.

Hello,
I can see you are using the Lawyer theme.
Your site uses the Lawyer theme. I’ve checked the list of themes compatible with WPML and found three themes with that name, but none of them seems to be yours. Please, double check:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/?wpv_view_count=112654&wpv-theme-category=0&wpv_post_search=Lawyer&wpv_filter_submit=Search
But on your theme’s site, here:
https://themeforest.net/item/lawyer-co-wordpress-theme-for-attorneys-and-legal-firms/20362219
the author says that the theme is WPML compatible so there is a big chance it will work smoothly with WPML.
I’d buy it and in case it doesn’t work as you expect, you can use our refund policy.
https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
You can buy the Blog subscription first and in case it turns out that some of your elements require using some of the other WPML modules (WPML String Translation for example), you can upgrade to the CMS plan for the difference in purchase price.
Dear Agnes,
Thank you a thousand times for your precise and exhaustive reply as well as for taking the time to review the information. I will do as advised – I will buy the blog version and, if something is not being translated, I will proceed with upgrading.
Happy holidays,
Yavor

but you can add other languages manually if needed. This is also explained in the link I’m sharing.

Hello,
WPML is a WordPress plugin so, in theory, it should. But better to ask WP.com folks.

Hi there,
Did this plugin supports multilingual web service (API) for woocommerce and cms data?
Most regards,
Omid Bakhshi
This is a pretty general question. If there is a specific plugin or API call that you’re interested in, can you tell us?
Dear,
We are running an e-commerce (woocommerce) website and are in need of WPML. What version of WPML would we need to buy in order to be able to also be able to use the currency switcher?
Thanks,
Eva
You need the “Multilingual CMS” or “Multilingual Agency” accounts. Both include all of WPML’s components, which you will need for WooCommerce sites. The Agency account allows you to build unlimited sites with WPML. The CMS account allows using WPML on three sites.
You need to buy Multilingual CMS. It entitles you to download WooCommerce Multilingual which features currency switcher.
Greetings,
I bought a plugin from a different account, I didn’t receive any email from purchase. To Whom Should I contact there is no option for support.
Please help
Thanks
I tried all method but didn’t get an email.

Hello!
I’m looking for solutions for translate ONLY user interface (without changing the content or duplicating) posts, pages should be displayed in native language.

WPML have a chance to reach this?
WPML has an option to display untranslated content in other languages:

You can add languages to your site and set WPML to display untranslated content.
Does this help?

I’m having a hard time understanding the process of making a multilingual site.
What I’d like to do is get my site to rank for keywords in other countries and serve the content up in the native language.
Is that what WPML does for me?
How does this all work with subdomains or subfolders? I’m very inexperienced.
WPML allows you to add languages to your WordPress site. Once you translate your content, you allow Google to index it and to return results from your translations.
You choose how to arrange the languages in your site. To place languages in sub-domains, use this tutorial:
https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
To place languages in sub-folders, you don’t need any configuration on the server.
Does this help?
g’day, using Astra Pro and Elementor Pro, intend on purchasing Multilingual CMS. Reading tutorials two sets of instructions exist
#1, Creating multi-lingual sites with Astra theme
#2, Build multi-lingual site with Elementor.
Is there a preferred method? i.e. Astra or Elementor, or is this just redundant information?
I am at a point of information overload, and trying to streamline the Research process.
thank you in advance for any advice on the most effective workflow using WPML with the above theme/pagebuilder.
Astra is a theme and Elementor is a page builder plugin. Both work fine with WPML. There’s a tutorial for WPML+Elementor here:

Hello,
We administrate the bilingual (English-Greek) eshop caseville.gr
Hello Peter,
thanks for your response.
as for A: it would be definitely interesting to learn more about the import process regarding especially a woocommerce setup, so if you or your specialised colleague can send me some links or tutorials, i would be very satisfied.
as for B: it is nice to know that we can export separate XML’s per language as this is the most crucial part than can’t be done right now with the use of qTranslate-X
have a nice year and i will be expecting your support from the new year on..
Peter

Hi
Flatsome and WPML Compatibility now?
I asked this question about two months ago, your answer was the project at work, and large parts already match. We prefer to wait if there are still system errors.
Thanks Benny
Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for reaching out.
I hope this helps,
Marine
Hi Benjamin,
As promised, a little update from our developer in charge of Flatsome compatibility with WPML:
“The author is working on them. And we’re actively helping clients when they have issues with this. So the client can use Flatsome with WPML as we are fixing some latest stuff.”
I hope this helps,
Marine
Inquiry solved – for benefit of other’s
All in all, good product, good support…
Thank you for your replies and support
HK
Thanks for your taking the time to write a nice feedback, we always learn a lot from clients.
I’ve forwarded your suggestion about String Translation to our WPML developers team. I think it’s a good suggestion to be able to sort them a little bit better.
Happy Holidays season to you, thanks again for your time!

Hi! Does Multilingual Agency includes Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and auto-translations? Are they (auto-translations) included , and how many?
Hello,
Yes it does include access to the ATE.
Happy Holidays Season,
Marine
