Dear Support / Itamar,

I have a question,

Soon I have to translate a lot of pages [some are new; some have to improved]. I would like to use automatic translation [probably only 1 credit].

I know how to do this with the Advanced Translation Editor, but as it will be about 30 pages and I have besides the default language [American English] - Dutch, Spanish and German.

My questions

a)how can I select these pages, and products and = let them translate automatic | or improve existing translations, and translate automatic [with selected machine translation f.e. google, microsoft], all these pages in 1 batch, instead of loading each page and use the ATE [far to much time consuming]

b)on pages en product pages, I see the options:

Media Translations

= Duplicate uploaded media to translations
= Duplicate featured image to translations

I do not want my Library filled with 4 times the same media file / image, only translate [if I would like thing, like for example “alt tags’

Could you let me know: which ones should be “vinked | marked”

I can give you access to my site with wordpress, but each time, the window closed, it does not give me enough time, to fill in all the information, that is really annoying, I have to start over again, please extend that time = let met know how I can sent you WPML access to my site, regards, Anton

Before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

Answering your questions:

For this, you will need to choose the 'Translate Everything Automatically' option in WPML → Settings. I strongly recommend that before doing it, you fully read our doc related:

Please bear in mind that the Media Translation module doesn’t duplicate the media files on your site. Duplication here means that new entries are created in the database with your translated image captions, titles, meta text, and other information.

If you do not mark these options in the MT settings, the media won't appear in the second language versions. More info: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/

I sent a document. Could you read that:

The Screenshots are of pages and products. I need to know [as I have seen this differ per page of mine, so not consequent:

Media Translations, not in WPML setting but on the Pages [right column], and same for products

= Duplicate uploaded media to translations [some of them were marked | vinked]
= Duplicate featured image to translations [this was "marked"]

Should I both have activated for each page? Could you explain what this means [ site works now, also in translations, but as I have 50% of the upper one marked and the other 50% of pages not = I do not know [see screenshots] what is best. I ask, as opening each page [takes lots of time, my DIVI WordPress Admin is very slow:-(, and I also have to open these pages for RankMath.

I hope you understand what I am trying to explain; the enclosed screenshots [if you can open them - show you direct what I mean], ...

Hi,

Let me explain more about the Media Translation options of WPML. We have Media Translation options in WPML > Settings > Media Translation section > How to handle media for new content:
- Duplicate media attachments for translations
- Duplicate featured images for translations
which means two options will be applied to the new post/page created on your site. They help you to duplicate the media item for the translation post/page so the translation post will have the same images as the original post.

Besides that, you have two options on each page. They help you to disable/enable options for a specific page only.

Should I both have activated for each page?
It depends on your requirements as I explain above. Also, I do not see any screenshots attached to your replies. Can you please recheck this?

Dear Support,

Last time [als first time] I used WPML translation [set-up with you collega] Itamar.

I think all settings are the same [I did not change anything].

...
...

Question 1 [changed products pages [only default = English] = have also to be translated [fields and new content]

If I add current new pages, and altered existing pages, for example [the shopping pages have been changed].

See 1 example!

English Version

German Version [current, I changed the English Version of the Woo Divi Shop]
Same for Dutch and Spanish.

You will see "other Fields" and of course, also altered content.

I guess [as last time, this was okay, this will also be translated, with current [old settings]. This is just an example.

2.
Media Translation, I guess it went fine, last time [I do not need i], as it seems, all images are the same and showed on translated pages [in November], as the alt tags, descriptions, is it correct what I state?

So I guess [not a lot has changed here], the old setting are fine].

3.

Strings, wow, not sure, what we did last time. I guess this is important.

But, I am not sure about the strings [there are so many, I do not even know what some are [like Jetpack?]. My question is what did we do last year [first translation with Itamar]?

Settings have not been changed, ..!
As stated, all "SEO" and "altered content" has to be translated!

How to deal with this?
How did we do it last time?
What did we forget?
Are settings of automatic translation fine?

For me it is important, that process goes like [we did last November | we had lots of problems though].

Settings were fine, but I wonder about, could you check that:

= Was all SEO of RankMath included, ...?
= Did we do translate strings last year [you can see current settings], I am not sure how to deal with this / how to read this from current WPML settings [which are the same as last year].
= How can I calculate the amount of credits I need?

I hope you can help me out with these questions, and have a look, at English Pages [in particular tour/product pages], and their older translations to get an idea, ...

the are also new pages, but I do not expect any problems, there [for example all the voluntary pages], and pages [I did not translate yet like Contact].

In some cases, I still need to translate:

= menu [needs update]
= footer, I never translated.

Hope you can have a look, at the above questions, to prepare for the next large batch of translations, which of course makes me quite nervous, as I need to do it well.

I understand there are some issues/questions in your reply. We can handle one issue per ticket only so I will split this ticket into other ones for better handling. In this ticket, I will focus on the first issue on the product page.

Do you mean the variations (fields) are not synced to the translation product? Please check this screenshot hidden link

That is exactly what I mean, the product pages have changed, partly what you have shown in the screenshot.

and of course the altered heading, text, and any other tabs, like:

- description
- additional info
- reviews

The objective is like last time, to translate the complete shop [besides the rest of the website [pages I will select to be translated].

Hi,

It is the product attributes, I suggest you can try to follow steps below and see if it helps:

- Make a small change to the product title > Update > Update the translation.
- Go to WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency > Status > Click on "Troubleshooting" > Enabe all options and sync variable products.
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌

I would like to ask you to keep all these tickets open, as it will take some time to read / this useful support feedback. And it will take some time for me when I actually can start with the translation.

Normal [I remember, a WPML robot cleans them], but I am working to get ready, but that might take 2 weeks.

Overall, I understand what you read [think not sure], I can conclude:

= all setting [if not changed from last time are fine, even for SEO
= I have to consider which Translation engine, to calculate costs
= Footer is new, if not okay, I read I have to change the function.php

I hope we can stay in contact, and many thanks for your clear answers [which for me, i good], as I I am not a developer [or expert] = already building this project [for over 1 year now].
