Setup different domain per language

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is inquiring about the impact of changing their domain structure so that casas4u.es becomes the main domain for the Spanish version of the website, and casas4u.nl redirects to casas4u.es/nl for the Dutch version, instead of the current setup where casas4u.es refers to casas4.nl.
Solution:

philipv-13	Another question. Is it ok I post it here. Because otherwise I get another collegue? Currently, casas4u.es refers to Casas4.nl This does not make sense because if you type casas4u.nl you go to the Spanish version of the website. and then you have to adjust the language with the flag. Logically, casas4u.nl refers directly to the Dutch version of the website. SO the main domain of the website should be Casas4u.es. And the other domain casas4u.nl to casas4u.es/nl If I would change this, what kind of effect would or could this have on the whole website? Will some things maybe break? Thanks.

philipv-13	Thanks I read it, I couldn't find the answer in my question. I still have the question what the consequences are if I chanche the main domain: casas4u.nl into casas4.es after almost everything now is configured. Are there any consequences? Or will everything automatically be ok? Thanks.

Osama Mersal WPML Supporter since 02/2020 Languages: English (English ) Arabic (العربية ) Timezone: Africa/Cairo (GMT+02:00)	Hi, It should be fine if you change the primary domain, but you will still have the same casas4.es for Spanish and casas4.es/nl for Dutch. If you aim to achieve that, then I don't think this will affect WPML because it's server/DNS change. However, you need to be careful with this change because all your WordPress database records and URLs will be changed, and some won't change automatically. philipv-13	But casas4u.es for Spanisch and casas4u.es/nl for Dutch and a redirect with casas4u.nl to casas4u.es/nl seems much more logical than it is now. But I don't want to have a lot of extra work later if things go wrong.

philipv-13	Also I thougt that if you would have an directory in the end like casas4u.es/nl it would direct directly to that if you are in that country. Because the browser now in which country you are. But Im not seeing that happen yet. Is that also an extra setting?

philipv-13	Ok, thanks. Im trying to get an idea of what the impact is of the change. You say WordPress database records and URLs will be changed, and some won't change automatically. What would be needed to fix in that case? For example this is it now for Spanish hidden link And this for Dutch: hidden link In the new situation it will be hidden link And this for Dutch: hidden link And for properties: For Spanish: hidden link For Dutch: hidden link In the new situation it will be : For Spanish: hidden link For Dutch: hidden link What exactely in this case could go wrong, what has to be repeared?

However, this is unrelated to the translation process or WPML because it relates to the site's domain change and database. WPML will use the site's URL in the database (wp_options table). philipv-13	OK, thanks. There is one page I can't translate yet: hidden link I can't seem to translate this page, not really sure why. In every language I see Spanish. Is that maybe such an database error? See printscreen.
