This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client's database tables

wp_icl_translate

and

wp_icl_translation_status

have grown very large, reaching sizes of 297MB and 215MB respectively.

Solution:
If you're experiencing large database sizes with WPML tables, we recommend checking out our errata page for details on reducing the size of these tables. You can find the errata here: Reducing size of icl_translate_job, icl_translate, and other WPML tables.

Hi - and merry Chrismas!,
in our db the table „wp_icl_translate“ has reached the size of 297MB, and the table „wp_icl_translation_status" has reached 215 MB.
Is there a way to reduce some of this?
Thanks in advance for your reply!
Best regards, Mario

Hello again,

Just an update from our 2nd tier team:

... there should be some improvements that might help here with [WPML] 4.6.8 [and 4.6.9], can you ... test it out? ...[since] part of the issue is solved and the rest is coming soon.

Please let me know if/when possible.

Regards.
