Hi there. The proper way to translate strings depends a lot on how they have been implemented inside the theme/plugin. Sometimes, there are even duplicates of the same string and only one of them is the correct one that needs to be translated. Also, sometimes, simply removing the string (checking the box and removing it) and then re-registering it again by scanning for it (one of the methods below) and re-translating it resolves the issue. I will share a couple of steps that you can follow and see if any of them helps you find and translate those strings (step 2 or 3 might be the one that you are looking for). 1. You can go to WPML > String Translation and search for any of the strings and see if there are any results Here is some very helpful documentation on how to use the String Translation plugin: If it's not there, it could help if you scan the plugin/theme that's generating the strings and then go back to WPML > String Translation and see if the strings show up: 2. If you can't find them inside the WPML > String Translation, they might be added as admin text. This should be the normal process to find and translate admin text strings: 3. You can also try to go to WPML > String Translation and at the bottom of the page you will find a checkbox called "Look for strings while pages are rendered". You can enable (check) that and then go in the front end to a page where you have that string showing up and then go back to WPML > String Translation and search for that string and see if it now shows up. 4. This link might help, too, in case the string is hard-coded in the theme files: Please let me know how that goes. Kind regards, |

hey mihai, i did once step 3 it fucked up the site so hard that it was unaccessible and it took me a while that wmpl was the issue because of some internal overflow in some php stuff. so i won't do this step for sure. but also step 2 does not help. why is it you don't want to support the official paypal plugin it just makes no sense to me? thanks and all my best |

Hi there, Thomas, and welcome back. Thank you for the update. 1. Can you please let me know where I can see the strings on the front end? 2. I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it. Our Debugging Procedures I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site. Privacy and Security Policy We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see: **IMPORTANT** - Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access. - If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link I will be waiting for your response. Mihai |

hi mihai, 1. here you can see the fields hidden link - make sure to put something into the cart before (e.g. hidden link) 2. i think access is not needed since its definitly an plugin issue. the more easy and efficient way would be if you can install the paypal checkout plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-paypal-payments/) at a devenvironment and check it out by yourself. also one of their devs should have reached out to you allready in case you need some help. |

Hi Thomas and welcome back. 1. In regards to "why we don't want to support this plugin" - that's not the case and it never goes like this. I'm not sure if you are aware of this but we have a program called the 'Go Global' program (https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/) where our Compatibility developers are available for any developer that built a theme or a plugin and are open to help them make their product 100% compatible with WPML for free. There are no plugins or themes that "we don't want" to support. If we could, we would love that all the themes and plugins on the market would be compatible with WPML as we have a very high database of customers and I'm sure many would benefit from this. But that is actually impossible, as there are millions of themes/plugins and we do our best to make sure we support the most popular themes and plugins we definitely jump in and help devs that want to make their product WPML-compatible. 2. I followed the URL you mentioned and made sure that I added something to my card but I was not able to see any strings like the ones you showed here: 3. I asked for access to speed up the process and make sure that I'm tackling it on this specific case/website, with this specific configuration that you have (you might be having multiple plugins that would be important to be part of the set up or specific settings that I am not aware of). Also, it would require me to set up a testing environment + set up WooCommerce and any settings you might have configured and that will take extra time but I don't mind if you would prefer me to go that route 🙂 I will be waiting for your confirmation.
