Hi there,

Asked the second-tier support about the staging website and will get back to you as soon as I have an answer.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Would you please delete the staging website now and copy once more from the live website to the staging and see if this time it works?

Thanks.

Did that just now. The wizard looks same as last time. Please advise.

Hi there,

Thank you for testing that. I am still checking with the system team.

For now I'd appreciate it if you could do the steps below to see if you will have access to the translation management in the staging website:

- Make sure that you are logged in wpml.org.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add New > Commercial (Tab)".
- Click the "Unregister" link to unregsiter WPML.
- Click the "Register WPML" at the right section of the screen.
- Click the "Get a key for this site" link annotated in the screenshot below.
- A new page will open up and the auto-generated key will show in pop-up.
- Copy the key and paste it into the "Site Key" input box annotated in the screenshot below.
- Click the "OK" button.

If the steps above unlock the WPML then you will be able to use the method below to connect the website with you the main website for translation:

Thanks.

Hi!

I tested the steps but the wizard is still same as before. I also tired to delete the staging site from my wpml.org dashboard and re-registering but that made no difference.

Hi there,

Thank you for testing that. Next thing that the second-tier asked me to do is to downgrade WPML temporarily to the previous version to see the same thing happens there or not.

It seems that the previous login information is not working.

Would you please give me access to the staging website so I can perform the downgrade and test?

Thanks.

Yes, the account was deleted since we created a new staging site. I have now created the user with same credentials as before.

Please go ahead and test the downgrade.

Thanks. I can see that the wizard has gone away. Did it go away by itself or did you take any action on it, if so which one? Were there anything else done, except for the downgrade, and I assume upgrade again since I can see it is still running 4.6.4?

Would be good to know in case I run into this on any of our other sites.

And in the future, what option should I choose in the wizard after copying my production site to staging? I regularily do this to make sure I have a fresh database from production.

Hi there,

I downgraded the website and the option to set it as COPY enable for staging and then upgraded.

In the new version if you select Move you will not be able to set it as copy later.

So for your case, always use the COPY option and not the move option as you just go from production to staging.

MOVE option is only if you permanently want to change the domain of the website. For example changing the production website domain to something else.

Thanks.
