dominicC-10	Background of the issue: I am experiencing some outstanding translation issues with the Avada theme on my site hidden link. I am trying to resolve these translation issues and have documented them in a video at hidden link. I am following some documentation to address these issues. Symptoms: There are unresolved translation snags with the Avada theme. See below and those mentioned in the video screencast. Questions: How do I translate Search results page: 'Nothing Found' string? How do I translate the title of sidebar widgets on blog posts? How do I translate the 'Search' field placeholder of sidebar search widget on blog posts? How do I go about translating the Avada mega-menu on desktop?

To translate them, follow these steps: 1. Scan Avada Theme and Plugins for Strings 1. Navigate to WPML → Theme and plugins localization. 2. Under "Strings in the themes," select Avada. 3. Under "Strings in the plugins," select any relevant plugins (e.g., Avada Builder). 4. Click Scan selected components for strings. This process will register translatable strings from the theme and plugins. 2. Search and Translate Strings 1. Go to WPML → String Translation. 2. Use the search function to look for the string "Nothing Found" or the search placeholder text (e.g., "Search…"). 3. If found, click the + icon next to the string to add your translation. 3. If Strings Are Not Found If the desired strings do not appear: 1. Scroll down to the Utilities section in WPML → String Translation. 2. Click on "Not seeing strings that you are looking for?", then click on "Admin Texts Translation". 3. Search for relevant entries, such as those related to the search widget or theme options. 4. Select the appropriate strings and click "Add to String Translation". 5. Return to WPML → String Translation, search for the strings, and add your translations. Translating Avada Mega Menus with WPML To translate Avada Mega Menus, you can create separate menus for each language, allowing for different menu structures and content per language. dominicC-10	I've followed your detailed instructions (thanks for these) steps 1-3. I've scanned Avada Child and Avada Builder, then gone to string translations and searched for 'Nothing Found' and added translations for all I felt relevant. See hidden link - but this hasn't changed the font end display> When I then try the follow up "Not seeing strings that you are looking for?" option I can't find anything relevant?! See hidden link Regarding the Avada MegaMenu within the main menu, I have translated the Global Header (Avada Layout Section) and 'Navigation' (Navigation Menus) as outlined at https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/#translate-menus-site-editor - as the menus don't have a different structure, apart from the equivalent language content the link to. But this hasn't changed the front end. Were you saying that I need to duplicate the menus as outlined at https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-menus/#translate-menus-different-per-language ? I've avoided the latter up to now as all the other top-level pages are translated, it's just the courses mega-menu that isn't translated. Anyway, I have now followed this instruction and create individual main menus for each translation. Turned Home text to an icon and added the provided Megamenu available for each translation . 'Cours FSUK' (for French), 'Cursos FSUK' (for Spanish) & 'Cursos FSUK (for Portuguese). This now works so much better. The megamenu thumbnails link to the correct pages/portfolios. However, even though the megamenu subtitles are translated, they do NOT link to the correct pages/portfolios. This is how I have the Default English Menu Set Up hidden link E.g. This is how I now have the Portuguese Menu Set Up hidden link 1) So I'm not sure which part of the article at https://wpml.org/forums/topic/avada-mega-menu-cannot-be-translated/ that I now need to implement? Can you advise. 2) Also I get 505 error when I try to review some translations. How do I fix this issue 3) What does the 'Synchronize menus between languages.' link there do?

Please communicate the following with the support of your server: We’re getting a 505 HTTP Version Not Supported error on our staging site (hidden link). Can you check if the server is misconfigured to reject certain HTTP versions like HTTP/1.1 or HTTP/2? 3) This link will take you to WPML -> WP Menu Sync. dominicC-10	Thanks Itamar. Regarding 2), it was actually a 500error! I've reported this to Siteground who have recreated the issue and reported back as follows: ------------------- I was able to recreate the error and I can see that a Timeout error was logged in the server error log: 2025-05-28 09:18:06.920786 [Wed May 28 09:18:06.920723 2025] [core:error] [pid 69759:tid 69759] [client 87.118.135.66:12148] End of script output before headers: index.php, referer: hidden link; The process appears to take more than the defined PHP max_execution_time and hence fails. We have set limitations on all shared accounts for some of the PHP variables as they could affect the server performance. Please note that on a shared server are hosted multiple accounts and the settings are set to ensure the best performance of the server and the fair usage of the resources by all users hosted on the same server. The most common PHP settings that cannot be changed are: <pre> ,[object Object], memory_limit = 768M post_max_size = 256M upload_max_filesize = 256M As you are currently hosted on a shared server increasing their values would not be possible as it would compromise the stability of the entire hosting environment. Perhaps the issue could be caused by a conflict between plugins. ------------------------------ What do you suggest I do now apart from full conflict testing? I'm interested to hear what you think about their comment "The process appears to take more than the defined PHP max_execution_time and hence fails. " I'm working on 1) & 3) currently.

dominicC-10	Itamar Regarding the mega menu child URLs, and your suggestion 3) above - using the WPML Menu Sync options has brought me undesired results. See hidden link I took a backup so I will revert to this now, but I'd like some revised help, seeing what has just happened. Should I be looking for these incorrect URLs in string Translation like you suggest in 1) and if so why did you suggest using Menu Syc at 3)?

Otherwise, tickets can get cluttered and confusing for both users and supporters. I'll answer now your question regarding the 500 error. However, if you require additional assistance, please submit new tickets for the other issues. Thanks for communicating this problem with SiteGround. SiteGround is one of our hosting partners: https://wpml.org/hosting-partner/. However, the problem seems to be with the hosting plan you have with them. In your case, the culprit is the max_execution_time PHP variable. On your server, it is set to 120 seconds. That might not be enough for some of WPML's PHP operations. I believe the same is true for many other plugins and themes. On my local server, I set max_execution_time to 3600 seconds, which is always enough. Can you ask SiteGround to increase the max_execution_time values for you? It is not one of the PHP values they mentioned in their reply. Alternatively, please consider moving to another more convenient hosting package. I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Itamar.

dominicC-10	Itamar. Thanks for isolating the php variable responsible. I've relayed your response to SiteGround. The plan I am on, BrowBig, is the one recommended by WPML at https://wpml.org/hosting-partner/ - I can't change it from 120s. I've asked SG if they will make an exception. Maybe WPML should review that recommended plan?

I switched the theme to the Avada parent theme and deactivated all the plugins except WPML, Strings Translation, Avada Core, and Avada Builder. Then the problem persisted. However, when I deactivated the Avada Builder plugin, it worked — jobs could be reviewed without encountering a 500 error. I'm consulting with our second-tier supporters about this case and will update you here once I have received their reply. I appreciate your patience. Itamar.
