This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The client is using WPML on their site and inquires whether they can switch between automatic and manual translation methods after the initial setup. They also ask if it's possible to get an estimate of the credits needed for automatic translation before starting, and how to choose among different translation engines like Google, Deepl, and WPML AI with ChatGPT.

Solution:

If you're experiencing similar questions, we recommend the following steps:

1. You can change your translation method at any time in WPML > Settings.
2. To estimate the credits needed for automatic translation, navigate to WPML > Translation Management, get a word count, and then use our simulator to calculate the costs. You can find the simulator here: Automatic Translation Pricing.
3. For choosing a specific translation engine, please refer to our detailed guide here: How to Change Automatic Translation Engines.

Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML Support Forum.

Background of the issue:
I am using WPML for my site hidden link and I want to know if I can change my translation method after the initial setup.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
If I choose to translate automatically, can I then switch to manual translation and vice versa?
Can I get an automatic quotation on the credits needed for automatic translation before starting?

Hi,

thanks for contacting us.

Yes you can change your translation method in WPML > Settings.

To calculate your credits' need, you can get a word estimate in WPML > Translation management and then calculate the prices with our simulator.

Dear Laura,
this is great, thanks a lot!
Another small question.
I noticed that for the automatic translation I can choose among Google, Deepl and WMPL AI with chatgpt. Is it correct? When and how can I make this choice?
Best regards
