  1. We have been using WPML for many years and recently upgraded our site and wish to download the plugin again. How do we do this?

We would like to renew our account for this next year.

    • If you previously had an account for WPML and it expired, your best option would be to upgrade it to a Lifetime account. You will only need to pay the difference between the cost of your expired account to the Lifetime account. To do this, log in to your account and click on the Upgrade button at the top-right of the page.

  2. Dear,

If I will purchase WPML, can I translate buttons in the slider? Will there be any bugs or things what I can’t translate? It is really important that my website will be in 2 languages at least, so if customers see my website that they have the option to click on a flag of their own to get the website fully translated in their own language?

Which of the 3 versions do I need?

    Kindly let me know!

    Best regards,

    • Hi Tat,
WPML was designed to help you translate all the elements of your WordPress site including posts, pages, menus, widgets, categories, tags, sliders, comments etc etc. Sometimes you might have some issue with theme custom options since these depend on how they were implement by the theme author. So to make sure everything works smoothly, we recommend to use themes that were tested by our compatibility team:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

If you build a simple blog site the Multilingual Blog is enough, otherwise choose “Multilingual CMS” – you can upgrade to Lifetime later, by paying the difference only.

Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically.

    • Dear,

Thank you for the e-mail back.

Do customers have the option to click on a flag somewhere on the top of the website? How do you create a flag icon?

      Best regards,

  3. Hello,
I want to buy the Multilingual CMS plugin just to try if the plugin is working for me. If everything goes well i want to update to lifetime option. Is it possible to pay only the difference later or i will have to pay the full amount of 195 dollars.
    Thank you 🙂

    • Yes, you will receive a tax invoice after you buy. Your tax invoice will include our company information and the information that you enter for your company. This will also include your EU VAT number, if you provide one.

    • You need to log in to your wpml.org account. Then, you should see the button to upgrade your account at the right hand bar in your account page.

  4. Hello,

I am attempting to renew my account so I can access the newest version, however the only option is to re-purchase the entire CMS for $79. However I have already done this, so it should only be $39 now.

“Account renewal per year $15 | $39 | No Renewal Needed”

How can I renew my account for $39?

    Thank you,

    Hayden

    • Hello,
if your current WPML subscription is still active you should be able to renew it a a reduced price. If your WPML subscription has already expired, you should still have an option to upgrade to the Lifetime subscription by paying the difference only. Let me ask our admins to check your case.

    • Hi again,
your subscription expired on October 2, 2015 and as I explained, to take advantage of the reduced renewal price you need to have an active subscription. Please consider upgrading to Lifetime instead buying a yearly subscription again.

  5. Hi there, is it possible to purchase Blog version and than upgrade it to Multilanguage one if any other feature are required? What would be the cost for the update? Thank you in advance, Andrea

  6. Hi,

We currently have a UK site and 5 language sites. Each language site has its own top level domain. For example, our Spanish language site has the extension .es.

We would like to create a WordPress site using the WPML plugin, however, I have a couple of questions.

Could the domain extension change from .co.uk to .es, if the Spanish language was selected?

Would we have any access to the translated content for each language within the CMS?

Could we alter the theme slightly for each language site. For example, have particular content on display for UK site, that will not display on the Spanish site?

    Kind regards

    • Hi,
      1. Could the domain extension change from .co.uk to .es, if the Spanish language was selected?
Yes, this is possible to configure with WPML
      2. Would we have any access to the translated content for each language within the CMS?
WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. You can use one of the trasnlations services integrated with WPML but these are paid extra. Then yes, you will have access to the content translated by them.
      3. Could we alter the theme slightly for each language site.
You need to use one WordPress theme but you can display different content for different languages

      • Hi Agnes,

Thank you for coming back to me. It is very likely we would purchase the full version.

Having full access to the content and being able to change it ourselves for each language is great.

Using the three questions I asked above, would each of those three options work with a multi site, subdomain and subdirectory structure?

For example, can we display different content using multi site, subdomain and subdirectory…or does only one particular structure cater for this?

        Kind regards

        • Hi George,

can we display different content using multi site, subdomain and subdirectory…or does only one particular structure cater for this?

You choose either folders or subdomains.
Or you can assign a specific domain for each langue. Please look at the last picture here:
https://wpml.org/faq/server-setting-for-languages-in-different-domains/ (this picture is outdated but explains the idea)

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by multi site. Are you asking about using WordPress in the Multisite mode (network) and having each langue as a separate subsite? Or maybe you need a scenario like this user:
          https://wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/wp-multisite-wpml-domain-mapping.jpg
          or maybe something else.

          Please specify.

          • Hi,

I understand we can setup folders and subdomains but I was just wondering about assigning a specific domain for each language. I thought this was a multisite? i.e. .es for the Spanish site.

Yes, I when I said multisite, I meant multisite network.

I just wanted to ensure that the three questions above would apply to the folder, subdomain and multisite options?

Also, do you have the documentation for each option?

            Kind regards

  8. I’m wondering about turnaround time to get a site translated by one of your partners. There isn’t much content, but need it translated into Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish and German.

What information is needed to give an estimate for translation?

  9. hi, i want to make my website multilingual but theres a way to change the flags icons that are displayed? when i put my website in spanish i want it shows a mexican flag and when i put the website in english i want it displays the flag of the U.S., is this possible?

    • Hi Ray, yes, this is possible with WPML.
Go to WPML -> languages, then click on the “Edit languages” link. You will be redirected to the “Edit languages” interface, under the “flags” column you can upload your custom flag.

  10. Can I send my client to you to buy the plugin and then he can give me access to his account so that I can download it and install it on his site?

  11. I’m constructing a website and would like to have it translated in different languages. So I’m interested in buying WPML. If I buy it, is it possible for you to install it for me? I can pay for this.

  13. Hello,
I bought the WPML plugin installed. When I want the set I have this message:
WPML Media is enabled but not effective. It requires WPML in order to work.
    I already bought this plugin!

    What to do ?
    Best regards

    • Hello,
when you buy WPML you actually get access to a number of WPML plugins, not just one. It looks like you have the WPML Media plugin installed but you site is missing the WPML core plugin (the full name is: WPML Multilingual CMS). Please install this one and it should solve the issue. Please don’t hesitate to contact our support help for technical help.

  16. I purchased the translation plugin, but I installed it on a development server here: http://coachingdeingles.barcelonawordpress.com/blog (the last updated version was 3.2.2)

The problem is that this is showing as the licensed site and the key is for this. The problem is the actual live url is: http://coachingdeingles.com How do I move the key to the live site?

Do I need to purchase another site-key for this domain? Currently the site is saying I need to update, but I cannot without the key. Will I loose any translation if I buy another license for the live url? This morning the website crashed when we tried to update the plugin. Do you have any advise.

    • Hello,
you can use one WPML subscription for different domains/sites, no new purchase is needed. In your WPML account go to Account -> sites and type in your domain name. A key will be generated for you. Then copy this key, go to your WordPress and paste it when required. That’s it.

This video demonstrates this step (jump to 1:38):
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7zrroWtrpQ

      You won’t lose your translations.

  17. Hello,

I have just bought the Multilingual Blog product again.

I had it for a year on my wordpress site and it worked great.

How can i get the new versions working? It seems i cant just use the update plugin screen in wordpress. And where in my account can i see how long the new version is valid?

    What do you suggest ?

    • Hi dannP,
the next steps depends on what WPML version you used before so there might be different scenarios, all described here:
      https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

If this documentation doesn’t helpful much please open a ticket in our support forum. Our supporters will investigate your specific case.

  18. Hello i want to buy your Plugin for my client for single site licence ,and i design with my domain first after done i will move my web to my clients domain ….can we do this ?

    • This is fine. You only need to pay for WPML once and you will be able to build as many sites as you need for yourself and for your clients. This also includes moving sites from development to production domains.

    • Hi Erick, yes, you can do this, you can use one WPML subscription (license) for all the sites you build, for different domains, even for different customers.

  19. Dear sir
I am using Woozone – WooCommerce Amazon Affiliates plugins for Amazon Affiliates.Problem is i want to translate English to Danish language..amazon not support Danish language..My question is if i buy WPML then i can translate Attribute and product varition???

    • Dear Zakaria,
to translate your WooCommerce products and variations to different languages you need the WPML Multilingual ($79) subscription and the WooCoommerce Multilingual plugin. If you use other WooCommerce add-ons, it good to check ahead is there are compatible with our plugins. Here’s the list:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/woocommerce-extensions-compatibility/

This plugin is not listed there, which means it hasn’t been tested for WPML compatibility by our team, so I cannot predict how it will behave.

  20. Hi, we are a university club doing drones called Dronolab. We are engineering student at ETS (École de technologie supérieure) and we don’t have a big budget for our website. We don’t plan to make any money with it. Do you have a special discount for organizations? At least, we could give you credits in our partners/contributors list. I’d like to get in touch with you about that. Thanks!
