Everything runs fine so far till now. Today I have added a menu item. But when I have tried to update the translated menu, I have been forwarded to the 404 page in the frontend.
Is this a conflict with between the new WordPress and the older WPML ?
If this problem can be solved with an upgrade to lifetime licence, I will do so. But is this guaranteed? At the moment I do not have any other reasons to spend that money.

So turning a site into a multilingual one requires two steps:
1. installing and setting up the WPML (done by a WordPress developer)
2. translating the contents (done by somebody who know the language)
WPML will keep the translations connected. This allows you to create a language switcher (WPML includes different language switchers), to send content to translation (knowing what needs translation) and to separate content by language.
We’ve never tested the WPML plugin with the Disqus comments. I don’t think WPML can do anything with Disqus comments because they are stored in the Disqus server.
About bbpress – I’m sorry, but now WPML is not fully compatible with this bbPress.
I have a question concerning how Woocommerce Shop page would appear with activated WPML.
I understand that WPML allows me to create a single product page in different languages, and this is done by separating them into interconnected pages (i.e. if my site comes in English and French, for the same product I would have to create a page in English and another in French). Do I understand it correctly that:
1) This would result in 2 different Shop pages (in English and French)
2) There would be only 1 version of the product thumbnail appearing in the Shop/Catalog page respective to the selected language on the front end (i.e. only the product in English appears in the Shop/Catalog when the site is in English mode, and vice versa).
Our company is not registered in Europe so we don’t have a EU VAT if this is your question. But of course you can buy WPML with your EU VAT number and it will appear on your invoice.

Yes, WPML allows that. You can have two different menus for your languages. You can have a kind of a “mix” as well. All options are supported.
