Hello,
Can you translator translate embedded site? I have amazon site embeded to my site and want translate it from english to russian online for customers. Is it possible?
Hi there, I’m taking over maintenance a site which uses your WPML plugins and it looks like there are newer versions to update to – where can I find what the latest version numbers are so I can see how out of date the following plugins are:
WPML CMS
String Translation
Translation Management
Also there might be an active account for this site but I no longer have access to the email account with which the plugins were originally purchased – I know what it probably was though if that helps.
You can see the numbers in your WPML account, under Downloads. Since you don’t have access, let me list them for you:
WPML Multilingual CMS – 3.4.1
WPML String Translation – 2.3.9
WPML Translation Management – 2.2.1
WPML subscription belongs to the person who purchased WPML and only the subscription owner can use the WPML account.
If however the previous owner had the Lifetime subscription and she registered all the websites in her account, you should be able to update the plugins from your WP admin directly.
Otherwise you need to purchase your one copy of the subscription.
Hi Tracy, we can change your email address only if you provide us with some evidence that the previous one belonged to you (for example the order number). Please use the form again (my colleague Mercedes notified me that you two got in touch) and send us anything that confirms your rights to the previous subscription. Other everybody who knows someone’s else email address could do so. I hope you understand.
Hello, I am building a a multi-language and national website and using woocommerce. I wonder if your plugin works for product attribute multilinual? As I am building an order form in both Chinese and English, I need a plugin to translate the attribute of the order form to English.
Also, does your plugin support WooCommerce Product Price Based on Countries?
I’ve got 70 countries in which I need to develop a multisite multilingual website for. Each of these need unique content including pages which maybe completely different layout and content. Our approach is that we will have each website translated by each country. Will WPML allow for unique content to be added without automatically translated by the plugin?
There will only be me and a few others that will be going into the admin area so I’m really not bothered about having this bit translated as the team will be in the UK.
Will WPML allow for unique content to be added without automatically translated by the plugin?
Yes, this is exactly how WPML works. You can translate your posts, pages (and other contents) yourself and independently.
You plan to use a WordPress Multisite so now the question is whether you plan to use different plugins and different themes on different sites. If so, please check the Multilingual Press plugin. It may suit your needs better.
Okay, so if I was to add my own unique content to a page in the UK website I would be able to add my own unique content of the same page in Italy without the plugin auto translating for me? For example there will be an about us for all countries but this page for each country will have their own content sent from the individual countries. Just want to make sure I’m understanding correctly as I’ve read that WPML will translate one page to several other languages which was how I thought WPML worked.
I have a few more queries too.
I have already built 4 websites. Would WPML be easy to install now these have been built?
I have also built the site using Advanced custom fields for users to be able to make up a page easily and move segments of the page around. Does WPML work well with ACF?
One final question, obviously for me I would probably purchase the CMS version. I have a multisite setup as a subdirectory. Do need one install or several?
We have a question about the licensing policy.
We are a web agency.
When you purchase a Plug-In which we are going to be applied to all sites for commercially produced?
If it doesn’t help, please use this contact form and provide us with your order number. We will look you up in our system and correct your email manually.
Hello,
In the license Multilingual CMS Lifetime is there any restrictions for on how many domains we can install your plugin? (Unlimited websites = could be install on unlimited domains?)
Hi, I’d like to know if we could use the currency switcher part of your plugin first, as the website copy has not been yet finalized. However we will confirm the copy within a month. Can we therefore start from the currency switcher and see how it works for us right now? Thanks for your support.
Hi Ada,
yes, you can. Please note that the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin (which includes the currency switcher) has been designed to turn your online WooCommerce-based stores into multilingual ones and help you to translate the products to different languages. If you want to use the WPML plugins to switch your currencies only you are free to do so but you will need to install all required plugins as well.
I just filled out the form to buy WPML and submitted the order but accidentally inserted my email address as [email edited] instead of [email edited] so I cannot retrieve the account name and password to download the plugin. Can you assist?
Good evening, I wanted to ask some questions about the translation
a customer asked me to translate the site in two languages
English and French
and it also give me the traslation text
so i don t need the google automati traslation
so at this point how can I go what do you recommend ?
what kind of plugin ?
thanks waiting
Hi Andrea,
yes, this is exactly where WPML can help you. It will help you to create posts and page in these two languages. If you need to translate your posts and pages only the Blog version is enough: https://wpml.org/purchase/
You can upgrade to higher version in needed and you will pay the diffrence only.
I need to use a translation system that does not rely on Google translate. We need this to work in China, and they block everything related to Google. Does WPML use Google for its translations?
not it doesn’t since WPML doesn’t translate your contents automatically. You insert the translations yourself or you can use one of the translation services integrated with WPML (these are paid extra).
I have a question. I havent bought WPML yet, but I need to know about a feature that’s important to decide if Im gonna do it. If I choose to make woocommerce products “not translatable”, will WPML still duplicate products for the secondary language ?
Hi,
I have purchased the Blog version and I’d like to know what happens if I update to de CMS version. My Blog subscription ends in November, will my new CMS subscription end next November or one year after the update?
Thanks!
Jose
I have a dual language client site that doesn’t need translation. Can I use WPML just to manage hreflang tags? And if so, can you give me a link to any hreflang documentation you have on this feature? Thanks!
(it’s a long doc, basically, it means that WPML adds these language links for you automatically)
For this to happen, you will need to setup a multilingual site with WPML. You can do the translations yourself, or input translations that you’ve already written.
WPML allows you to redirect visitors to content in their language according to the browser’s language, not the IP address. Browser language is far more reliable than IP. A person can be in a country, but speak a different language. Almost everyone sets their browser to the right language.
Please be aware of the implications to search engines. Google requires to see all these redirections and may follow them. This means that some content in some languages may not appear in Google. It’s not something that we’re implementing, but something that Google does. Google forbids sites from implementing redirections according to the ‘user agent’, in a way that makes it see different things that visitors.
Sorry, but we don’t have discounts for WPML. We set a price which we hope would be reasonable for everyone and we stick to it. All the accounts for WPML allow you to build as many sites as you need for yourself and for your clients. You can updates and support for a year and there’s a Lifetime account option.
You can use WPML for sites that have Arabic. WPML comes with RTL CSS, so it will also allow to display the WordPress Admin in Arabic. I’m not sure about what you mean in ’embedded’. What is ’embedded’ Website?
About default language, you can also do this, but it takes a bit of a process. WPML maintains separate content per language, pages can have translation, but these translations are completely independent. This means that in order to display the content of the default language in another language, it needs to be copied there. You can do that using WPML’s Content Duplication function: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-using-content-duplication/
The duplicated content will point to the original as ‘canonical’, so that Google knows it.
This way, when visitors navigate to content that’s not translated yet, they will see that content in the original language, but navigation and menus display in the correct language (where translation is still missing).
As soon as you translate that content, it will replace the duplicated one.
i’m using advanced custom fields plug-in. and i have created an options page and inside the options page i have a repeater field can Wpml translate this? or do i have to create the field two times and query for the correct one depending which language the user has selected?
Hello,
my name is Martina and I volunteer for an italian NGO. I am currently working on the new website of the NGO using the wordpress.org CMS. As the NGO is active with cooperation and development projects abroad, we are interested in subscribing to WPML, in order to have a multi lingual language. I have two questions:
1) I read on your website that non profit organisations may apply for a free subscription to WPML. Does this mean that also yearly renewal of the subscription is free?
2) The theme we have installed on wordpress is originally in english, although it is endowed with .po file. Can I use WPML to translate the theme in italian and set the italian translated theme as the main site?
Thank you very much for your attention,
Greetings,
Hi Martina,
1. Yes. Please note the waiting queue is long now and the validation process takes a while.
2. Yes, when you install WPML just choose Italian as your primary language and then add English.
I need to buy a WPML licence for one of my clients (they will reimburse the cost later).
Question:
How can I buy the licence, but record the owner of the licence correctly as my client (or their company)? Simply input their name, email and company details into the “company” field? Though, the CC payment details would be in my name obviously.
Hi Ben,
you can buy a WPML subscription for yourself and use it for unlimited client sites. This is what most of developers do since only the subscription owner can ask questions in our support forum and it’s better when you handle all the technical issues instead of the end customer who in most cases don’t have enough technical skills.
Sorry, perhaps my previous question can be ignored.
I own an “lifetime” licence of WPML already. This would mean I can simply use it for unlimited client sites. How about updates, once enabled on their server they can download updated plugins, is this correct? Thought, one limitation would be that they can not use your forum, unless I provide my access, right? Are there any potential issues/limitations of my clients and should they rather buy their own licence?
Hi again,
your comments were waiting for moderation. That’s correct. Feel free to register all your customers’ sites in your WPML subscription and this way they will be able to upgrade WPML even if they don’t have access to the WPML account. The only issue/limitation is what you mentioned: only the subscription’s owner can use our support forum.

Tracy.

Great, we will fix it for you. You will get an email from Mercedes or Laura.

Yes, you can certainly translate taxonomy (product attributes) with WPML and WooCommerce. We explain how to do it here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#taxonomies
The “WooCommerce Product Price Based on Countries” plugin says that it’s compatible with WPML:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-product-price-based-on-countries/
I also see that our compatibility team had recently tested it:
https://wpml.org/extensions/woocommerce-product-price-based-countries/
So, you should be all set.
I am trying to find the Invoice for our purchase about 3 years ago to see if we paid for a lifetime license.

We have been using Polylang and need to switch to WPML. Thank you for your help.

Does WPML support JSON files with array for tranlslations?
Hi Pedro, if are you talking about the format of the file used to exchange translation, we use only XLIFF files, which is a standard in this context.
I have a dual language client site that doesn’t need translation. Can I use WPML just to manage hreflang tags? And if so, can you give me a link to any hreflang documentation you have on this feature? Thanks!
WPML will set up the hreflang tags for you automatically. We explain it here:

We are looking to launch another site for selling products in multi country.
Does WPML have some sort of localised database so it knows which country you are in and therefore displays correctly in the local language?
And if there isn’t a local language can you have the system default to English for the others?
WPML allows you to redirect visitors to content in their language according to the browser’s language, not the IP address. Browser language is far more reliable than IP. A person can be in a country, but speak a different language. Almost everyone sets their browser to the right language.

Hi
Does the system recognise the country that a person is in so that it shows the correct language. e.g. shows French in France and German in Germany?
Also, can you set the default language to English if you do not have a translated language in the system?
About default language, you can also do this, but it takes a bit of a process. Does this help?
Just to clarify, what language would a user see if they are in France but I don’t have a French set of pages?
Would it default to English or to another language? Can this be controlled?
Hi,
i’m using advanced custom fields plug-in. and i have created an options page and inside the options page i have a repeater field can Wpml translate this? or do i have to create the field two times and query for the correct one depending which language the user has selected?
Hi Timo,
yes, WPML allows you to translate the fields created with ACF, including the repeater field.
