Hi. I have WPML Blog. I would like to get my site in Finnish at http://www.forceproof.com/docs/ translated to English. However, I am stuck in a vicious cycle.
1. apparently I can’t get a quote without upgrading to WPML CMS.
2. I don’t know if I need WPML CMS before I can get a quote
Any recommendations on how to contact a translator to get a quote before upgrading to WPML CMS? Thanks
For each service, you will see their website where you can contact them. You need to tell them that you are considering using their services through WPML.
Therefore, we will need multilingual environnement, that’s why we are interrested by your extension.
As we are not sure if the migration will be successful, would it be possible to install a trial version (1 month) to check whether the migration to WordPress + WPML is really possible ?
hello I have a version of WPML installed that looks like it needs to be updated. How can i check if I have a purchased license for the plugin? I am new to this company and was handed a password and told to fix things. Can anyone advise as to what is happening.
Hi Horacio,
if you have your password, please log into your WPML account to check if it is still active. If it is, you will see plugins available for download in the downloads section.
If the subscription has expired, you will find a link to upgrade it.
If your subscription is active you can ask for help on our support forum. You can even share credentials to your site with our supporters so they will identify the cause of your problems for you.
Quick question. Is it allowed to buy as a group? So, buy with a couple of people the most expensive version and give all of the group members a licence?
Hi,
you can buy one WPML subscription and use it for all your sites (and sites for your customers). For us, it doesn’t matter what these sites are, who they belong to. The thing is, only the subscription owner has access to the WPML account and our support forum, only the subscription owner gets email notifications about important updates, security issues etc. Only the subscription owner can register WordPress sites so they get automatic updates when we release a new version.
For this reason, it is better to have only one owner.
I was wondering if WPML had support for a sort of “Draft” language. A language that admins could see and edit but was not exposed to the public yet? I know I could just exclude it from the language picker but I want to make sure nosey users cant stumble into an unfinished language.
Yes, WPML has a feature to handle it. You go to WPML -> Languages -> Hide languages. and you select which languages to hide but allow your editors to translate them on your back-end.
I would like to translate my pages and posts but without being required to change the page URL’s.
For example when I go to a page: website.com/page1, it should directly go to the detected browser language such as website.com/en/page1.
I noticed that this is not possible on Polylang and that I have to make seperate page URL’s for every language (which does not work well with an international marketing campaign with the same landing page). I was wondering if it is possible with WPML.
We have planned to build a web site for community (Sinhala / English / Tamil) which having multi-language articles (such as news/education/religious/medicine/astrology etc..) (basically it is a newspaper or magazine) in the same web page.
May I know your plugin is having feature to cover my requirement. No need to translate whole site into exact language, what I want publish post in different language using relevant fonts of the language. Final web page shows consisting with multilingual posts and writers use more than one font types per one language.
Example
There are three writers and they preparing different articles in different subjects (Category) with different languages using MS word and final write up copy and paste into WordPress as a separate post under different category. Articles in web should appear in relevant languages what writers posted.
writer one use Sinhala language to write his article and he used three type of Sinhala Fonts (DL-Malithi, FM-Deran, DL-Hansika) to complete his article.
Writer two, preparing a different article same as in different language say English and used two English fonts (Geneva, sans-serif).
Third person preparing his article in Tamil language and used three Tamil fonts (A, B, C) to complete his article.
Please let me know it is possible to do this scenario base on your theme and send me guide line how to do it.
Hello,
to display your content with different fonts you need to use different CSS. If you plan to use a different font per language, you need to have an extra CSS class in your page that will reflect the language of that page. Here’s the code your can add to achieve it:
Hello,
you need the CMS (or Lifetime) subscription to translate this theme. The one for $29 will not suffice.
The good news this theme has been tested by our Compatibility Team and you should be able to translate all your elements.
WPML looks really nice. My customer want buy this.
But it is need for using with buddypress.
Can you confirm that it is will be work.
I tried on local server WP+BP+WPML+ BuddyPress Multilingual
It is not work.
Maybe problem in BuddyPress Multilingual – 7 months not update.
Maybe need multisite – but it is can be only with domain now. not dir.
Really I can not find any documentation for BuddyPress Multilingual (need dir in WPML with which setting, need mulisite or not, allowable with subdomain or not). Whuch WPML version is need for 29 or for 79 USD?
The $29 subscription is not enough, you need at least the CMS ($79) subscription.
You are correct about the last update date. Let me contact our developers to check if the most recent version of the BuddyPress Multilingual is working fine without any serious issues.
Hi Simon,
yes, you can update to the CMS Lifetime subscription later for the difference in purchase price. You will find a link to do so in your WPML account.
If I purchase CMS and every year I pay the upgrades ($ 79+39+39+39), once I reach the same price of CMS Lifetime ($ 195), I have to keep paying for upgrades?
What you really need is the “Subdirectory per language” format. By default this would give you /en/ and /es/ subdirectories.
But you can edit the languages table and add 2 custom languages that would have the “english” and “spanish” language codes, resulting in /english/ and /spanish/ folders. If you have any problems, we can help you in our support forum.
I just purchase one license. Can you give me directions about that “Subdirectory per language” format. Does this means like adding two applications into a different subdirectory?
before you buy the plugin I would like to know if buying the CMS version + annual updates ($ 79 +39 +39 +39 = 196), once you reach the cost of CMS version Lifetime ($ 195), I’ll still buy yearly updates or I will pass automatically from CMS version to version CMS Lifetime without more pay updates?
Hi Adriano, your previous comment was waiting for moderation (we don’t work on weekends). If you want to upgrade to Lifetime from the CMS blog you pay $116.
Hi there, I want to use your plugin but wanted to make sure that it’s compatible with the theme I’m using, called Blog Home (there’s a demo of it on my stile popnpr.com)
Is there any way you could test that for me? Thanks!
Hello, I checked the popnpr.com websites and it looks like that website uses the Kale theme. The Kale theme is compatible with WPML and was tested by our Compatibility Team.
Yes, you will. You can upgrade anytime. Just log into your WPML account and you will find a link there. If you upgrade before your current subscription expires you will pay difference in purchase price only.
We just applied for a nonprofit subscription, afterwards I saw that approval takes 1-3 weeks. We would like to start testing WPML, can we purchase a license and then get a refund if we are approved?
Hello,
we support all languages, even if your language is not included on the list of our default languages you can add it manually. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your contents.
Hello,
WPML supports right to left languages, including Arabic but your theme needs to include some special CSS as well – “mirroring” some elements. If your theme has been marked as an RTL ready, you don’t need to worry – everything will work out of the box. If it wasn’t you would need to make it RT: ready yourself: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/build-rtl-wordpress-themes/
Also, it is recommended to choose a theme that is WPML compatible. This way you will be able to translate all your site’s elements without issues.
Hi
do u have a trial version ?
Kind regards
Abdullah

You mean, you would like to know in advance how much you will pay for the professional translation?
You can a pricing table here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/compare-translation-services/
but these are just examples. The final price will depend on various factors.
Best, would be to contact the service of your choice. The list is here:
https://wpml.org/translation-service/
For each service, you will see their website where you can contact them. You need to tell them that you are considering using their services through WPML.
Thanks!
Hi
I am still awaiting feedback on my request for subscription for our ngo/church. Thanks.
Thanks Erik, let me contact the team handling these requests and ask about your status.

Hi Pascal,
our refund policy allow you to test WPML for 30 days.
https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
That’s the only way to test WPML in your own configuration, on your WordPress website.
Hi Agnes,
Thanks for this quick reply. That sounds fine.

Hi. Can this work together with PolyLang?
Hi. Not together but we have an importer that automatically converts from PolyLang to WPML. This way you won’t lose the work you did using PolyLang.
https://wpml.org/2016/06/polylang-wpml-importer/
Not really. WPML and Polylang connect to similar things in WordPress. You can use either one or the other.
I would like to translate my pages and posts but without being required to change the page URL’s.

Hi, yes, this is possible to handle with WPML provided you are fine with detecting the user language based on the language set in his/her browser.
This option is disabled by default but you can enable it with a few clicks in WPML settings.
Hi, do you also know which option this is, or where I can find it?
We have tried to buy the CMS version of the plugin using two different credit cards but have been unable to purchase…please advise.
Hi Daniel,
what error did you get? You can try PayPal. I will check with our admins if everything works fine on our side.

Hi I am in the process of developing a website that uses the Business Directory Plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/business-directory-plugin/) which I want to use in conjunction with WPML.
I have however come across this post in your forum regarding possible compatibility issues between the two plugins: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-and-business-directory-plugin/
Before purchasing I would like to know if the above mentioned has been resolved and if WPML can be used with the Business Directory Plugin.
Hi Stephen,
I can see that the plugin was last tested a year ago – 2015
https://wpml.org/plugin/business-directory/
this thread was created in 2013.
Let me contact our Compatibility Team to check detail and I will get back to you.
Hi there,
With the $29 dollar version.. Can I translate the following things?
1. Website navigation
2. Portfolio pages (Brooklyn WordPress theme)
3. Visual composer buttons, titles and text.
4. Text in ‘Content Views’ block. (WordPress plugin)
Kind Regards

Hi,
Can I purchase CMS first and choose to upgrade to CMS Lifetime later?

Simon
Hi Simon,
yes, you can update to the CMS Lifetime subscription later for the difference in purchase price. You will find a link to do so in your WPML account.
Thanks Agnes for the info and prompt response.
Hi,
If I purchase CMS and every year I pay the upgrades ($ 79+39+39+39), once I reach the same price of CMS Lifetime ($ 195), I have to keep paying for upgrades?
Best regards,
Adriano
Hi Adriano,
no, it doesn’t work like this. You can upgrade from the CMS subscription to the Lifetime anytime for $116.
Hi !
I would like to know if the basic blog packages will manage all my string translations for my website (website+ blog)
Thanks
Hi Andre,
no, you won’t translate all your strings using the blog version. You will translate posts, pages, categories, tags and menus.
Hello,
1) In the language URL format, I see there is an option “different domain per language.”
Instead of different domains, can I use folders such as “english” and “spanish”?
example: http://www.perulinks.com/pages/english/ and http://www.perulinks.com/pages/spanish/
I need to replace software I have in perulinks.com, and the directories structure needs to remain the same for SEO purposes.
Otherwise, insted of having a http://wpml.org/es format, can I change the “es” to “spanish”?
I’d also need to have a http://wpml.org/english
If not, I could do that as a custom work if you would and pay for it…
Thank you,
CMC
What you really need is the “Subdirectory per language” format. By default this would give you /en/ and /es/ subdirectories.
But you can edit the languages table and add 2 custom languages that would have the “english” and “spanish” language codes, resulting in /english/ and /spanish/ folders. If you have any problems, we can help you in our support forum.
I just purchase one license. Can you give me directions about that “Subdirectory per language” format. Does this means like adding two applications into a different subdirectory?
Hello,
Thank you for purchasing WPML. David is not available now but feel free to ask all your questions on our support forum.
Do I need to licenses for this?
I am not sure what you mean with “Subdirectory per language”, but if you give me the directions to do so, I could try out….
One license is enough for all your WPML needs.
“Subdirectory per language” is the URL format. Instead of “different domain per language” you would select “subdirectory per language” in the setup wizard.
If you need help setting this up, please use our support forum:
https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Thank you David, I appreciate your help. I figured out this question. I will post another one in support.

Hi Tobias,

Which languages do you support?
Do you support Indian regional languages
Hello,
we support all languages, even if your language is not included on the list of our default languages you can add it manually. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your contents.
