  1. Hi there,

We are in the middle of a website revamp and want to offer our pages translated into Spanish for our students.

Is there a way that we can purchase the basic (blog) or medium (CMS) offerings to try out before we go for the lifetime offering?

    Best, Marcus Badgley

    • Hi Marcus,
yes, you can. You can get started with the Blog version and then (if needed) upgrade to the CMS version for the difference in purchase price. You won’t need to reinstall anything since the CMS version includes some extra WPML plugins (such as String Translation, Media translation etc), the core one is the same. The same applies to the CMS version. You can upgrade to the Lifetime for the difference in purchase price. You will find all the links to upgrade in your WPML account.

  2. Uncode theme has recommeded your language plugin has the best for their them and have some few questions.
    1. we are building our test site on a subdomain.eg. blog.blabla.com Can we install this plugin at this stage and test it?
Will there be a problem when we transfer it to the live site or domain?
eg, build site on blog.blabla.com and transfer it to blabla.com when it’s all done.
your response would be much appriciated.
    Thanks

    • Hi Danny,
      1. “Can we install this plugin at this stage and test it?”
Yes, you can. But please choose folders for languages.
      2. No, there shouldn’t be a problem. You can use the Duplicator plugin.

    • When I wrote “But please choose folders for languages.” I meant using the WPML option. So you choose folders instead of subdomains.

  3. Hello, we are considering your product for our educational, public announcement web site where we will be training student dental doctors and general public about orthodontics. Is it any way possible for you to offer us a non-profit / institutional rate. Thank you. Okan

  4. Hi,

I’m a freelance wordpress-developer and consultant. Now I have two clients wanting a multi-lingual Webpage.

Is it possible to by a “agency-licence” to use WPML at my Clients (and support them over time)?

    Best regards,

    Stefan Imhoff

    • Hi Stefan, all the WPML subscriptions we have can be used for all of your customers. So you just need to buy one license and you can use it for all your customers.

  5. Hello,

I want to buy blog version but I need some confirmations. I bought 79 once and never used it. So I will buy again.

I use Houzez (real estate) on my website celtegitim.com.tr and I am wondering whether duplicate is available in Blog version?

You say custom fields won’t be translated in blog version. I have property, and its cities, types or so. I assume they are taxomonies and I am wondering they will be translated or not. I am not sure what you mean custom fields.

Also, menu syncing. Does that mean I have to set up menus in each language separately?

Before when I bought 79 CMS one it had tons of plugins. And you had to install all to make menu translations. sticky menu or so.

I am wondering how many plugins in blog version has and what are they?

I prefer one plugin to keep speed. This is the only thing I don’t like about wpml. It has many plugins.

in properties, when I duplicate, will it take its photos as well? Because it will be hard for me to find those photos again to add from media? If I upload them as new photos, my site will get loaded a lot.

    Thanks

    • Hi Elgul,
it’s perfectly fine if you buy the blog version. It includes the WPML core plugin. If it turns out that the only way to translate something that really matters for you, is to upgrade to the CMS version, you will do so effortlessly since the main WPML plugin is the same for both. The CMS version just includes more plugins, as you noticed. And you will pay the difference in purchase price (if you upgrade before your subscription expires)

Please have a look at this table:
      https://wpml.org/purchase/

and you will know immediately what you can translate or what you cannot.

“in properties, when I duplicate, will it take its photos as well?”
If we are talking about photos inserted to posts, you don’t need the WPML Media plugin.

What that plugin does it allows you to keep only one physical copy of your images (and separate translations for each language, such as captions and alts) so it saves space.

  6. Hey

I have a severe issue with certain strings refuses to be translated and stays in default language. i dont know if we have a paid solution with wpml for support but we need one now because the issue is getting worse the more we try all the forum solutions we have read. so help is desperately needed.

But what would it cost us to get help with this?

    thank you in advance.

    • Hey,

I checked your emails and there is not WPML subscription registered with that email, so you are not our customer yet. Probably our supporters should help you with the issue (so you just the a WPML subscription, you mention strings so the Multilingual CMS would be relevant) but I don’t know where are these strings coming from. From a theme? A plugin? What’s its name? Thing is it might turn out that your theme/plugin is not compatible with WPML and if that’s the case even our supporters won’t help. Can you please let me know what theme/plugin you use on your site (of course in these strings context).

  7. I there

I am thinking about buying the full CMS. My question is only as follows: If there is ever a conflict with WPML and another plugin, WP update or whatever, and it disrupts my site, is it possible to simply de-activate WPML until the problem is fixed?

I was going to go with qtranslate_X but their plugin makes your site break if you ever deactivate it, which is a no-go in my view. This is why I was thinking of a paid solution like WPML.

    Thanks
    Kevin

    • Hello Kevin,
Thanks for your interest. If there are issues, before deactivating WPML, you can try getting help from one of our professional supporters. Of course, you can always deactivate WPML safely as well. If you have any doubt about this our supporters will be able to guide you at the forum. Remember you can try WPML for 30 days and if it does not suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/.

      Kind regards,

  8. Hi I think wpml is fantastic, however, I have just totally revamped my website and added French and the Menu options are no longer working. e.g. all I get is a 404 error. The product is superb and I have had no need for support however now, having tried to use WPML in other themes the issue seems to be a current theme. I see that this has been an issue since, wordpress updated and I would be grateful if there is a fix due as this has rendered my site unusable. Please can I know if a fix is due, thank you

    • Hi Mark,
why don’t you open a ticket in our support forum? Or maybe you already tried and got stuck? If needed, you can share the credentials to your site with our supporters so they can investigate the problem for you.

    • And Mark, one more thing. In case you don’t have an active WPML subscription (and you cannot open a thread in our support forum), please provide me with more details such as what theme you use, what WPML and WP version.

      • Unfortunately I do not have a current subscription, and I missed the offer for a reduced price, on renewing the subscription as everything seemed to be going well. The theme is Javo Directory, I have updated the WPML to the latest in the security patch fixes, and it shows as WPML 3.1.9.3 and my word press version is WordPress 4.8.1. I have tried with Twenty Sixteen Theme as well. Love to renew the subscription but $79 is out of my reach at the moment, 50% potenitlly is possible. As I say I love the product but funds are limited. I look forward to hearing from you,.

        • Hi Mark,
definitely you cannot use the WPML 3.1.9.3 if you use WP 4.8.1. The WPML version you use is two years old and to fix the errors you should upgrade to the most recent one (3.1.9.3). I’m sorry but we cannot have any other offer than the one for $79.

        • Thank you for your reply, which I have added below, but I am a littel confused:

          It says

“Hi Mark, definitely you cannot use the WPML 3.1.9.3 if you use WP 4.8.1. The WPML version you use is two years old and to fix the errors you should upgrade to the most recent one (3.1.9.3). I\’m sorry but we cannot have any other offer than the one for $79.”

I am using 3.1.9.3 what is your current version? Let me know please.

          • Sorry, the version number I put in brackets was supposed to be 3.8.1, which is the most recent version of WPML. So if you are using the most recent WordPress version, you should use the WPML version that is compatible with WordPress. So that would be 3.8.1.

          • Thanks Agnes, I understand no problems, is there any discounts available as it seems that this is the only solution, just we are strapped for cash. 🙁

            • Hi Mark,
right now we don’t have any discounts available. We might have some in the future (maybe a few weeks from now) but for the time being we haven’t decided how they will be available and for whom.

  9. Hello,

I need to know if this plugin will create duplicate products on my woocommerce for the different languages. I have a ERP integration that will only work if I have 1 Name and 1 SKU per product. This is for my Canada website which has English and French (not yet I need to find a solution that will not mess up the info fed to my ERP).

    • Hi Jose,
yes, it will. Actually you have two options when you translate your products/posts/pages using WPML: 1) you can stick to one copy for both languages or 2) you can create a “copy” and translate it separately. The first one works for cases where a product/post/page needs to look exactly the same in both languages and if the original item changes the duplicates will reflect the change automatically. When you need to change at least a piece of your post, then go with the second option.

      • Hello,
        I am interested in WPML.
I have a question about that last comment.
In my situation, I want to provide multilingual functionality on my site, but I need the “posts” (in this case, they are courses and units, as part of WPLMS), to remain in English.

Would this be easy to do?

The way it needs to function is for users to access the same courses/units (in English), regardless of which language the site is set to. If I can avoid duplicating them, that would be great. You mentioned above that you can choose to stick to one copy of posts in some cases, and the same post appears regardless of language.

I hope my query is clear.

        Regards,
        Peter

        • Hi Peter,
if you don’t to translate your posts at all, you don’t have (you can just translate everything else on your site – pages, menu, …). Let me explain what happens in a case that a post is not translated.

If someone visits your site in a non-English language they simply don’t see your posts (unless you duplicate them). But if someone visits a post in English that is not translated to other languages and he or she clicks on the language switcher to switch to the other language they will be redirected to the homepage. Alternatively in that case you can also skip the language entirely (it means the language switcher won’t show the other language for that post)

          • Ok, so it sounds like I would need to duplicate all the posts (but not translate them, as they must be in English) in order for customers to see them.

The main concern I have with that (apart from the time and double-handling) is if they purchase one of the courses while the page is set to French, for example, and then they decide to change the page to English, will they still have access to the “same” (duplicated) course under English?

            • “so it sounds like I would need to duplicate all the posts (but not translate them, as they must be in English) in order for customers to see them.” To be precise: you need to do so in order for customers to see them under a specific language. Everybody can always switch to your main language to see the content in this language.

“is if they purchase one of the courses while the page is set to French, for example, and then they decide to change the page to English, will they still have access to the “same” (duplicated) course under English?”

Now I guess we are talking about something “new” (which wasn’t covered before) – content available only for members (logged in users). Until your plugin is WPML compatible (exists on that list), you cannot be sure you can will be able translate everything.

The WPLMS plugin hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team, so the best way for you to check how it works with WPML would be to buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind, which allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

              • I guess it’s “new”, I just can’t seem to find clear answers for my situation.

Thanks for your help anyway. I will consider buying and implementing WPML as a trial, I am just not yet sure how easy it will be to remove and whether there will be any issues if I need to remove. I will keep investigating.

In the meantime, in case it helps, I’ll explain my situation as clearly as possible.

                1. Website
                2. Users from various countries
                3. Contains content or “courses” (some free, some paid, all accessed via Login).
                4. All courses are only in English (it relates to learning English, delivered in English).
                5. All courses appearing under English site would be the same as courses appearing under Spanish site.
                6. If a user accesses/buys a Course while under Spanish site, but decides to change the site to English, they should have access to the same courses, history of completed courses, etc. as they did under the Spanish site.

If that changes anything, or if you are able to rule out WPML on that basis, please let me know.

                Thanks again,
                Peter

                • Hi Peter,
yes, I don’t have answers to your questions since the WPLMS theme was never tested by our Compatibility Team and it is a premium theme so I cannot test it myself.

                  I found this thread:
                  https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wplms-englisharabic-course-page/

and it seems that this customer had some issues when using this theme with WPML. Let me get in touch with the supporter who was helping him, to find out if it is safe to use this theme with WPML.

                  I’ll keep you posted.

To answer your question, if you decided to buy WPML and test it yourself, please use a test site (not your production server). This way you won’t need to remove anything it if turns out that there are too many issues

                • Hi Peter, hi again.
I read the support thread I mentioned before and turns out that the customer needed something similar as you covered here just in a diffrent language:
“5. All courses appearing under English site would be the same as courses appearing under Spanish site.”
                  Please check this:
                  https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wplms-englisharabic-course-page/page/2/#post-1250628
Turns out it worked but causes other issues:

“Unfortunately, the problem is not solved, cause if you will go to LMS/All Courses/ All Languages / You will find that the courses you created ended up with two different IDs and this will spoil the whole project. ”

“now the course content is visible from both languages. However, the courses doesn’t maintain the same categories, actually the english categories are not bound to the course anymore leading to empty category in the courses page. Please advice. ”
                  https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wplms-englisharabic-course-page/page/2/#post-1254885

After reading the whole thread you will see that eventually there was no win-win solution.

                  Plus you need the following:
“6. If a user accesses/buys a Course while under Spanish site, but decides to change the site to English, they should have access to the same courses, history of completed courses, etc. as they did under the Spanish site.”

That part wasn’t covered in the thread and I cannot anticipate how it will work.

All themes that weren’t tested by our Compatibility Theme are considered “risky”, especially if they offer some complex/extra functionality, as in your case. If you would like to give it a try, please feel free but I’d recommend you using a test site (for example you can use the Duplicator plugin to create a copy).

                • And Peter, one more thing. You ask:
” if you are able to rule out WPML on that basis, please let me know.”

                  Here’s how disabling WPML works:

From WPML FAQ: After disabling the WPML, the site will lose content?

                  Solution:
You can disable the WPML and no data is lost, but to fully uninstall the second language settings will be lost.

                  == Disable WPML

                  – Click on the Plugins > Installed Plugins
                  – Click on the “Disable” link to disable plugin

                  == Fully uninstall
                  * Note that it is strongly recommended that you backup your data before resetting your data.

For you reset the WPML and the database, please click the WPML > Support > Troubleshooting. Look for the block ‘Reset’. Check the box “I am about to reset all language date.”. Then, click the “Reset all language data and deactivate WPML.”

              • Thanks a lot for all your help! I will go through the information and make an assessment based on that.

I appreciate your time and effort.

                Regards,
                Peter

  10. Hi to you

I live in Iran and i’m a freelance developer. Foreign banks have banned Iran from trading. Can you Help me how can i purchase your product in Iran?

    Best Regards

  11. Hi,

I am going to revamp my company website and it should support multi languages including english, traditional chinese and simplified chinese. May I know if WPML can support the translation in traditional chinese and simplified chinese characters? In addition, I am not sure if WPML is compatible with my theme and all plugins (e.g. Smart Slider 3, Elementor, Contact Form Builder), can I purchase the CMS offer to try out before go for the lifetime offer?

    Thanks,
    Miu

    • “May I know if WPML can support the translation in traditional chinese and simplified chinese characters? ”
Yes, WPML supports both traditional Chinese and simplified chinese. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate automatically and you would need to switch to the Chinese keyboard to type in the chinese characters.

” I am not sure if WPML is compatible with my theme”
What’s the name of your theme? Of you can use this list to check the compatibility:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

Yes, you can translate content created with page builders but there are some issues with the Elementor (depends on what specific elements you would need to translate)

The Smart Slider 3 and Contact Form Builder the plugins weren’t tested by our COmpatibility team.

” can I purchase the CMS offer to try out before go for the lifetime offer?”
Yes, you can and you can do it for the difference in price before your CMS subscription expires.

  12. Hello,

I would like to know why I have to buy a new license of WPML, because I already own one and last time I just had to renew it ?

    Thanks

  13. Hi,

We are basically an IT company and want to purchase multilingual CMS lifetime version. But I have one question.

    (1) We are going to install WPML plugins on many websites, but for some websites, we will not provide support from our end. We will send them directly to wpml support. To give support from your side, which are things you need from our clients (like WPML account email id, key or anything else). Do our clients need to be logged in to get support ?

    Please reply.

    Thanks,

    Nishant

  14. Hi,

    I have another question.

Can we change the paypal email address from which we purchased WPML account. Basically, what I want to do it, I want to purchase WPML plugin from one paypal account. and want to set another paypal account for recovery.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Nishant

    • When you buy WPML, you enter the email that you want to use for login (and password recovery). This email is completely independent from the email you use in PayPal for payment.

      • Hi Amir,

        Thanks for prompt response.

I am aware that the email I use in Paypal is totally independent from the email I use for login. But WPML “Contact Us” page says that, if you forgot your login email Id, you can use your paypal email to reset your password. My question is “Can we change the paypal email account” after purchasing WPML.

        Regards,

        Nishant

        • Hello Nishant,

If you really need it, please send us the email you’d like to associate as your PayPal email and the one your requests to be replaced. Normally we don’t have this option freely available as it’s related with the purchases, so that a history of the purchase is maintained.

  15. hi please I made a mistake with my email I wrote gmial instead of gmail and bay for the plugin now i can not log in how to fix this problem thanks

  16. Hello,

I am interested in the performance of using wp + woocommerce + wpml.

I read that in a multilingual use of woocommerce the performance decreases significantly.

Could you please provide some rough numbers to conclude the performance?

    Thank you very much!

    • Hello Kilom, thanks for asking. WooCommerce sites are typically very challenging (not just for us). They include a list of extensions, which lead to all sorts of configurations. There’s no way for us to test all these configurations in our Quality Assurance testing.

In the past, we’ve been very successful at profiling and improving performance. We can’t give a generic answer, because the problem is different for each site. If you notice performance issues on your WooCommerce site after installing WPML, please get in touch with us by opening a support forum ticket and our developers will investigate it for you.

Our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk.

    • Hello,
we can update your account for you. Please use this form and send us your order number or anything else that will help us make sure that you are the owner of this account.

  17. Hi,

we are looking into purchasing your plugin to handle our WP-based website with WooCommerce functionality. But we are wondering if it’s possible to disable website checkout for a particular language with your WPML for WooCommerce plugin or if there’s a partnered plugin that can assist with this task?

    Thanks.

    • Hello,
thanks for contacting us. What exactly do you mean by disabling checkout? You mean you would like to display the products in other language but without the “Buy” buttons? Or maybe you would like to replace the button with some other action? for example to redirect your users somewhere? I’ll be happy to assist but first I need to understand what you plan to achieve. looking forward to hearing from you. Agnes

  18. Dear sir, madam,
I build websites for customers. When doing so, I use a theme that I buy at SKT. By default these websites are built in English. I live in the Netherlands, so most of my customers want a Dutch (standard) website. So, apart from page-content, buttons etc need to be translated aswell. I give you above mentioned website to illustrate that at the bottom of the page there are words like Phone, Address, Contact us etc.
If I buy your programm: will those English words also be translated? I understand I can use your plugin for multiple websites? Will I have to buy the CMS version?
    Kind regards,
    Rob

  19. Have you done anything to WPML performance ? Few years ago it made every website slow where I used WPML plugin and wasn’t theme issue or plugin issue.
Tested with many themes and also tried turning off all plugins

  20. Hi, I’m building a webpage for non profit foundation which is starting it’s work in Europe (it exist already in USA) and I’d like to ask for your plugin but I can’t find the site where there was a contact form with queries for that kind of organizations. Is it still possible to get it?

    • Hi Michal, I’m sorry but we no longer have that offer. Please note that you can buy a WPML subscription for yourself and you can use it for all the websites you build.

  21. Hi,

I have a website and the URL structure is example.com/en/blog

We want to add a German version – example.com/de/blog

My question is if I use the WPML plugin will I be able to use example.com/de/blog URL structure for the German version of the blog

    Thanks

    • Hi David,
You mean, your site already has this structure example.com/en/blog (en in the middle) even if the WPML is not installed yet? Or you mean to would like to have this structure after installing WPML. If your site structure is currently example.com, then yes, you can install WPML and then have example.com/en/blog and example.com/de/blog or example.com/blog and example.com/de/blog.

      • Hi,

Yes my site already has the URL structure example.com/en/blog with wordpress installed in the blog subfolder.

If I install WPML will I be able to use the URL structure example.com/de/blog for the German version?

        Thanks

        • Hi David,
no. If your site already has the /en/ in the middle and your WordPress is installed in the blog subfolder, then WPML will create:
          example.com/en/blog (English)
          example.com/en/blog/ge/ (German)

      • Thank you for your reply.

Are you planning to offer a small discount for non profits? I know you are telling me you are not longer offering a license for free for non profits, but a discount on purchase would be helpful for these kind of organizations.

        Thanks
