Hello my first concern is, if you can show different images to the pages translated in Spanish, and different images to the pages translated into English, it happens that I have pages of comics in Spanish, being that in the images there are essays in Spanish, but translate the page with your plugin the content will be displayed in English, but not the images, or is there a way to show different images for different languages?
as a second question is, what happens with the mixed content, I have pages written in Spanish but inside there are phrases or keywords in English, how the translation works in these cases.
As a third question, is the page creating a different URL for each language? example: domain.com/es/dogs domain.com/us/dogs where both URLs are indexed by google?
As a fourth question, is there a way to redirect the traffic that enters from a country that speaks Spanish to Spanish translations, from a country where English is spoken to English pages?
#1 In this case you need to provide two versions of images. Then, you include the relevant image file in a page in a given language. Or if these images are set up somewhere else (theme options), you will use the string translation panel of WPML.
#2 I don’t know why is your reason of having mixed content. For Google and other search engines it works best if each page is in one language. In WPML you provide the translation anyway so what you will include in each language version is up to you.
#3 Yes. During installation you will add languages and then WPML will create virtual subfolders for the languages. And also WPML will create a language switcher. When search engines see the language switcher they will be able to index your pages in all languages.
#4 Yes, there is such a feature in WPML to detect the user language (set in the user’s browser) and redirect him/her accordingly but this feature is not so important since if your content is good your site will attract natural traffic from search engines to individual pages directly in the language in which the user performed his/her search.
ok, this is perfect, if it is possible to provide two versions of images, one for English and one for Spanish, it is a fact that I will buy the plugin, one more favor, in the first comment I am using my full name: (edited) could change it (edited)
I was trying to find something on your website about GDPR Compliance. Is there a way of disabling all cookies stored by WPML (by default), and enable them only if the user chooses to do so?
Hello,
we are in the process of preparing the GDPR Compliance info. I’ll leave a note for the person who prepares the announcement to cover the part about cookies as well. But as far as I know the user needs to accept the cookies.
Awesome Multilingual Plugin first of all! I’m planning to buy it, but have a pre-sales question, Does it help us to convert a theme that not support arabic language (RTL) to theme support RTL ?
Hello Ibrahim,
WPML supports RTL and best would be to choose a theme that already supports RTL. But if your theme doesn’t support it, you can still add the support by yourself and it comes down mostly to providing special CSS. It won’t happen automatically. We explain the details here:
Hello,
I would like to ask you about the payment method – could you send to me the Invoice for wired transfer? (we are the company). On the site possible payment methods are Paypall and credit cards only.
Hello Robert, we don’t support wired transfers. Please consider asking a fried for purchasing WPML for you if you don’t have a PayPal or a credit card.
2. I may just buy that life time WPML straight away if it is working with Polylang without errors as I do need to translate lots of strings for both front page and backend
3. Please let me know if your plugins could do that. It should translate that verification email on Khmer registration form before UserPro sends it to users to verify their emails.
Cheers
Thon

#1. May I please have the link to the theme website? It’s not recommended using both Polylang and WPML since it might lead to conflicts.
#2. Yes, we have the option now but in about two weeks we will remove it and it won’t be possible to upgrade to the Lifetime option. But you can buy the Lifetime subscription now.
#3 I asked the question to our developers from the Compatibility Team. Waiting for their feedback.
I haven’t got the confirmation from our developers yet, I will ask again. But it should work as you expect since we are compatible with this plugin. I just need to double check.
In the meantime one of our developers confirmed that this will work:
“Will WPML automatically send that translated email verification to users in French langue after French users submit their French registration form?”
About accessing your site.
Our supporters can have a look and we have some special fields for sharing credentials so that no one else can see them. You can buy WPML with our refund policy in mind and test it for 30 days. During that time you can ask questions in our support forum.
Hello,
yes, that would be best. If other questions appear, you can also ask our supporters. If, in the meantime, I get any other comments from our developers regardless the questions you asked, I will also let you know. Thank you.
Hello! I need to build a multilingual website about supplements and would like some clarification on the features and how I can use WPML in this particular case.
Each supplement has a lot of numerical data (dosage for men, dosage for women, half life, strength gain, muscle gain, when to take it). That data is the same for all languages and only the field names need to be translated in the template.
My idea is to create a custom post type for supplements and translate the template. A translator will do the descriptions in each language. This way I can translate all the information faster and at a lower cost.
My questions are:
Is this possible with WPML?
What other tools do I need besides WPML?
I have checked Gravity Forms, but it seems more for information input and not for presenting it. I also have access to the Divi theme that supports custom post types.
Hello Pieter,
please consider using Toolset plugins. They are developed by us as well and are fully compatible with WPML and you create your templates once and then translate only some strings in WPML. These plugin work with custom post types, custom fields, you can create your own front-end forms and they are also compatible with Divi.
I’m developing a site in English and French with WPML and WooCommerce. Can you advise if the following plugins sold by Woo are WPML compatible? The Woo team is unsure & have suggested to contact you directly.
WooCommerce Brands,
SagePay,
Newsletter Subscription,
Table Rate Shipping,
WooCommerce Order Status Manager,
WooCommerce Splash popup
Reply from Woo team: We don’t have specific compatibility built into our extension to function with WPML, and, even though I’ve seen some of our customers using these plugins with WPML – since we don’t develop or support WPML, it’s hard to say whether everything will work as expected. It might be a good idea to reach out to WPML and ask them if WPML works with these plugins.
Hi there,
the web http://www.rasalilayoga.com has the pluging instaled, but we are going to change ownership and I would like to know if it is possible to change the lincens without making changes on the actual web. Is it possible to run WPML under a different licens just by changing the API KEY?
Hello Luis, what do you mean by “run WPML under a different licens “?
Anyway, if you are the owner of WPML, you can use it for many sites and for many customers. If you want to change the domain, you will need to register that new domain and generate a new key.
Hello again, the page has one licence now but the administrator is going to change, we will buy a new licence to keep the plugin on the web, our question is if we will have to do any changes on the web during that change of licences
Nothing from the technical point of view since your plugin won’t change. But if he generates a new key (optional), you might want to update the key in the site. He will know where to put the key (Plugins -> Add new -> Commercial tab)
Hi there,
I want to translate my website. The theme is WPML ready and certified.
It is build with WP Bakery
I want to change urls into English, change images, posts, pages and everything I have on my site so far.
I have used another plugin to translate the theme.
So is the light version good enough? Or do I need the middle version for my website?
There is no explanation with wat is included. I’m not sure what everything means. Hope you can help me 🙂
“I want to change urls into English, change images, posts, pages and everything I have on my site so far.”
you mean you want to run your site in two language or you have only one language want you need to translate some of your texts?
WPML is meant for running site in more than one languages. I hope this is your purpose. The light version is good enough if you need to translate posts, pages, images inside posts and pages, menus, categories. If your site uses a more sophisticated theme with many custom option, then you might need to CMS (or Lifetime) version. The Blog version is meant for simple sites and blogs. You can upgrade from the lighter version to the more advanced later, if needed.
I wanted to know if your plug in is compatible with Beaver Builder themes. #2 can i run it in diff subdirectories? i.e. http://www.mydomain.com (english and spanish), http://www.mydomain.com/customer1 (japanese, korean, chinese) http://www.mydomain.com/customer 2 (english, german, dutch) Each directory will have diff content and an option to diff languages. see ie. Or will it crash if I try and install on diff directories that share the same domain?
If you run three different WordPress installs, one for each customer, then no problem, simply install WPLM for each. Customer, customer1, customer2 would be your directories and in each you have a separate WP running.
If you however would like to have one WordPress only for all of them, it’s also possible but you would need to run your WordPress in the WordPress Multisite mode.
We are looking to translate our website in different language like, Arabic, french, Portuguese, etc
Q1# Does WPML will automatically translate from English to other languages
Q#2 Does WPML support Arabic RTL as well? We use Flatesome theme with woocommerce.
Q#3 Does language will change automatically according to country where website reached like if someone goto our website from saudi so it should be automatically arabic language.
Q#4 Can we also add the currency according to the country & language .
Q1# No, it doesn’t. You need to provide the translations or you can send your posts, pages and other content to one of the professional translation services that are integrated with WPML.
Q#2 Yes, but best would be to check if your theme supports RTL as well. The flatsome theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team so I’m not sure if it’s 100% compatible but the theme site says it is.
Q#3 There is a feature in WPML (it’s disable by default) to detect the user languages according to which language the user has set up in his/her browser.
I bought wpml, years ago (maybe 3?) when creating a bilingual website english/brazilian portuguese. In that time you guys supported me helping installing it, because I was having some issues. No I am trying to install chinese language, but it is not properly working and I don’t know what to do. I need wpml support help again. I can’t access/login anymore on your platform. What should I do to have your help/support again?
thanks for using WPML. I didn’t find any WPML user with the email you posted this comment with. If you remember the email that you used when buying WPML, you can try and reset your password using this link: https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password-reset/
Please note that to use our support help you need to have an active WPML subscription. Do you remember if you bought the Lifetime subscription from us? If you bought WPML only for one year, you will need to renew it (or buy) anyway.
Our supporters will help you with your issues but you need:
1. to use the most recent versions of WPML
2. have an active WPML subscription
Hi
Can I check with you if my primary language is English and secondary language French, is it always I have to first create a English page before I can have the corresponding French page?
Is it possible for me to create a French page without first creating a English page? Thanks.
“is it always I have to first create a English page before I can have the corresponding French page?”
WPML allows you to have pages in the second language while not having their equivalents in the primary language.
You can install WPML, add these two languages and for some time provide content only in French. For your homepage you can consider setting up an automatic redirection to the French version by the time you have the English part ready or duplicate the French part (WPML has such a feature)
Your website says WPML CMS includes “Multilingual E-Commerce Support” . So my question is:
Is there something missing in WPML? As such I will need this ‘glue’ plugin as described by the author of the plugin?
I have pure Arabic site build by woocommerce, however am planning to add English language by purchasing your plugin, and I have mobile app,
my question can filter data in api by language arabic or english or I must set settings for the API
Hello there!
We’re using qTranslate-X nowadays. Since it was abandoned, and hasn’t been updated in the past 2 years, we are studying how to change it. My company is planning to buy your WPML Plugin, but I need to be sure that it’ll be 100% compatible with what we are doing.
1. With qTranslate-x we can create virtual sub-folders to organize the translated content (like: myurl.com/us and myurl.com/br, and so on. I already know that WPML does it as well. Will I have some URL problems after migrating to your plugin?
2. qTranslate-X seems to be the reason for my Disqus problem. Since it’s latest version update, I can’t sync my comments. They say it’s a hosting problem, but I’m the host (I really am) and I can guarantee that isn’t the case. The fact is that Disqus tried to reach myurl.com/wp-json****, but I have this -> /language/ sub folder. Can you guarantee that WPML will work fine? Do you offer support in case I face some problem?
3. Will we be able to configure more than one Disqus installation (one for each language)?
3. We are planning to create exclusive content for each language, not just translate all content from one language to another. My question is: Does WPML allow me to list the content specific to each language? (for example, /br/ would list only pt-br content and /us/ would list only en content)?
4. We use a custom theme, fully developed by us. We don’t use WP default Menu function. Instead of this, our menu is a static .html file. In most cases, some options will not be available for US visitors… How can I set different headers for each language? Or should I use a two-theme version for it? Is it possible?
5. Is it compatible with (or using it with WPML could cause some problem?):
– Google Tag Manager (Analytics, Automations, inserting .js tags)
– Disqus (Comment System)
– Google Authenticator (Security)
– Intercom (CRM)
– OneSignal (push notifications)
6. What is and isn’t included in your support scope?
7. How does your ’30 days money back guarantee’ work?
I believe we’ll be able decide whether we’ll try WPML after receiving your answers to my questions.
2. No, we cannot guarantee that everything will be fine since each case is different but we do offer support help in case of issues. Our supporters can ask for the login and password to your site to further investigate your issues.
6. Everything related to issues caused by WPML or questions about WPML. We don’t provide help with custom coding.
7. YOu buy, you test, you can use our support forum for 30 days. If it turn out that WPML isn’t for you, you just fill out this form and we refund your order: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hello Ivan,
We are made by the new regulatopns to charge VAT from EU buyers, even if we are not based in the EU. More info here https://wpml.org/2015/01/vat-eu/
If you have a VAT number we will not charge you for it.
This information is absolutely wrong! Who is your legal advisor? You are outside EU and should not in any way charge EU VAT.
To paraphrase, the VAT you collected from me must be returned at the end of the month to the tax collecting authorities in my country. Can you advise to which bank account and recipient you will return the collected VAT?
While I live on the Canary Islands (part of Spain) I do not have to pay VAT as the rest of Europe. We are an exception to the rule and have our own VAT (called IGIC=7%) here. Because I cannot deduct the 21% from the taxes I would like to buy the licence without VAT. How can we do that?
Hi,
I have a website where blog is on the home page. However, I’d like to translate only pages that are in the menu (about, service, portfolio, contact pages) that are not blog posts.
I have Carrie theme and theme’s support told it’s compatible with your plugin.
Is it possible to translate separate pages with your plugin and let visitors choose their language?
Thank you.
The theme authors declare WPML compatibility but is hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team so you might have issues with translating some additional theme features. Basic stuff should work fine. If posts such as services, profolio have been added as custom post types you should be able to translate theme as well. Yes, you cal let your visitors to choose their language.
Thank you for your answer. However not everything’s clear.
My website’s original language is English. Let’s take an example. I translate several pages as services and about section to French. When a French user comes to my website and clicks on the French language button, will he see my blog posts which are in Engligh on my home page as well as other pages that are not translated to French? This plugin won’t affect the layout of the website and blog, right?
Thank you.
You can leave some of your posts and pages untranslated and that’s perfectly okay. In this case they won’t be listed in your secondary language. Actually WPML gives you different options to handle such cases, some prefer to display the original posts in such cases and to make that happen you need to choose a different option in WPML settings. If you get stuck with these options our supporters will give you hand.
“This plugin won’t affect the layout of the website and blog, right?” No, it won’t. It will add a language switcher but you decide where it will appear.

Hello Daro,
thank you for the information about your theme and the links. I didn’t find mention about Polylang to be bundled in the theme. I did some searching and again, nothing. This theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team but the theme authors say it works with WPML, this is what I found: https://themeforest.net/item/business-finder-directory-listing-wordpress-theme/5443578/comments?page=1&filter=all#comment_4620686

Agnes,
1. Thanks for your help. You can log into my test site, but i cannot give its credentials here due to privacy. How can I send them to you.
I ll also ask the theme’s developers today about whether WPML can be used on top of Polylang.
2. Please let me know soon when you get confirmation from your developers. I found a link discussing that similar issues here:

It seems your plugins does some work, but coding is required.

In the meantime one of our developers confirmed that this will work:
“Will WPML automatically send that translated email verification to users in French langue after French users submit their French registration form?”
We need to wait for the part about redirections.

Hello,
thanks for using WPML. I didn’t find any WPML user with the email you posted this comment with. If you remember the email that you used when buying WPML, you can try and reset your password using this link:
https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password-reset/
Please note that to use our support help you need to have an active WPML subscription. Do you remember if you bought the Lifetime subscription from us? If you bought WPML only for one year, you will need to renew it (or buy) anyway.
Our supporters will help you with your issues but you need:
1. to use the most recent versions of WPML
2. have an active WPML subscription
I hope it helps.
Hello Agnes! Thank you for your answer.
I managed to log in yesterday and having a lifetime subscription, I asked for help but nobody helped me. I do really need support ASAP. What should I do? (my user is ericJ-2 and question asked is https://wpml.org/forums/topic/problem-inserting-a-3rd-language-chinese-links-not-working/)
Thank you for your help
Thank you for purchasing WPML. I will check with our support manager why it takes so long to handle the ticket.
Thank you Agnes. I do appreciate your help.
Hi
Can I check with you if my primary language is English and secondary language French, is it always I have to first create a English page before I can have the corresponding French page?
Is it possible for me to create a French page without first creating a English page? Thanks.
Hello John,
“is it always I have to first create a English page before I can have the corresponding French page?”
Hi,
I am wondering why there is a need for such a plugin call “WooCommerce Multilingual – run WooCommerce with WPML”, see link https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-multilingual/
Your website says WPML CMS includes “Multilingual E-Commerce Support” . So my question is:
Is there something missing in WPML? As such I will need this ‘glue’ plugin as described by the author of the plugin?
Thanks
Yes, if you need to run a multilingual store using WooCommerce, then yes, you need this “glue” plugin. We are the authors. You can read more about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
Hi,
I have pure Arabic site build by woocommerce, however am planning to add English language by purchasing your plugin, and I have mobile app,
my question can filter data in api by language arabic or english or I must set settings for the API
Hello,
WPML works both with Arabic sites and WooCommerce. Here’s the WPML API:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-coding-api/
and the language constants. Is it what you were asking about?
Hello, thanks for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, you are right about WPML ability to create languages in virtual subfolders. There shouldn’t be any issues if you use this plugin https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/qtranslate-importer/
2. No, we cannot guarantee that everything will be fine since each case is different but we do offer support help in case of issues. Our supporters can ask for the login and password to your site to further investigate your issues.
3. You should be, but you might expect some issues. Please check these two threads:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/disqus-plugin/
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/compatibility-official-or-not-with-disqus/#post-658571
4. You can but it should be WPML compatible. When our Compatibility Team makes a theme WPML compatible they need to check a lot of things. This documentation helps:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/achieving-wpml-compatibility-for-your-themes-and-plugins/
5. YOu can see all plugins compatible with WPML and tested by our Compatibility Team here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
and if you use WooCommerce also here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/
Hello,
Why you charge EU clients VAT when you are outside EU? This is not correct! Please advise.
Hello Ivan,
We are made by the new regulatopns to charge VAT from EU buyers, even if we are not based in the EU. More info here https://wpml.org/2015/01/vat-eu/
If you have a VAT number we will not charge you for it.
Best,
This information is absolutely wrong! Who is your legal advisor? You are outside EU and should not in any way charge EU VAT.
To paraphrase, the VAT you collected from me must be returned at the end of the month to the tax collecting authorities in my country. Can you advise to which bank account and recipient you will return the collected VAT?
Hello, could you please contact us using this form to sort it out:
https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
we do have a workaround for such cases
Hi,
I have some pre-sale questions regarding the plugin. Is their an Email address that you guys can be reached at?
Thank you,
Hello David,
Yes, feel free to contact us here and we will reply privately https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/.

Hello,
While I live on the Canary Islands (part of Spain) I do not have to pay VAT as the rest of Europe. We are an exception to the rule and have our own VAT (called IGIC=7%) here. Because I cannot deduct the 21% from the taxes I would like to buy the licence without VAT. How can we do that?
Hello, please use this form to contact us about this issue and the person who receives the form will handle it. https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/
When I use this link and use pre-sales I end up on this page again. So I really do not know what to do now…..
I got your comment. What is your pre-sale question? I’ll be happy to help.
I have the same problem, I wrote a post some minutes ago and somebody has delete
Hello again. Your previous comment has been awaiting moderation. I have just replied.
Why you delete my message?
We didn’t delete it. It was waiting for moderation.
Hi,
I have a website where blog is on the home page. However, I’d like to translate only pages that are in the menu (about, service, portfolio, contact pages) that are not blog posts.
I have Carrie theme and theme’s support told it’s compatible with your plugin.
Is it possible to translate separate pages with your plugin and let visitors choose their language?
Thank you.
Hello,
The theme authors declare WPML compatibility but is hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team so you might have issues with translating some additional theme features.
