Thank you for quick reply, I found it meanwhile…not sure how I missed it first time lol.
So far I bought the plugin and already playing with its settings.
Hi, I have an old account that I haven’t used in a while. I just purchased a $79 license from you guys so I could install WPML on a new site. Now when I log in it still tells me that I need to renew my license at $59… this is not cool.
Hello Jonathan,
we will check your case. If you have just purchased, you are not supposed to be charged again until next year (in a year). Let us check it. I’ll keep you posted.
Hello Jonathan,
we checked your account – the one associated with the email you posted this comment with and it turns out that you don’t have any active account connected with this email address, only a Multilingual CMS that is expired. Could you please use this form https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/ and send us the following:
– the email of your WPML account
– the order id (from this one ” just purchased a $79 license from you guys”)
Thank you.
Thank you. Happy to hear all is fine. So I consider this resolved. In case of any other question feel free to contact us. You can also use the contact form I’ve shared previously. Thank you.
I would like to purchase the WPML plugin but I have a question. Do we have to renew the license after a year to continue using it? Or can we continue to use it without paying without updates?
For one of our customers, we are building a solution to connect there ERP system to WordPress/WooCommerce. The connection uses HTTP Rest API request like GET, PUT, POST for updating the items. We also would like to implement the functionality to add translations to WordPress with the WPML module with HTTP request/responses. I saw a forum message from 2016 that this was not possible back then, but it was something on the roadmap for WPML. Could you give some information regarding this topic? Is this something that is possible right now, or will be available in the future?
I’ve consulted your request with our developers and here’s the current status:
Currently, it’s only possible to set the language of a post by calling the standard WordPress REST API and including the “wpml_language” parameter.
However, at the moment, it is not possible to link a translation to the original using the REST API.
This is a functionality we plan to include in the future, but we don’t have an ETA as yet. It is still possible to write some custom code which uses the WPML API to create custom REST endpoint which links a translation to the original.
Hello Ron,
I’m trying to understand your question. You need a multilingual WooCommerce-based store, which means your products will be available in at least two languages. Is that correct? And now you are asking if the notification for the new orders can be translated? Yes, the can be translated using WPML. About generating URLs. Do you mean, you want your product URLs to appear in the other language as well? If so, yes, this will also work. When you translate a product, you actually create a new one but in another language and the URL is created automatically according to your product title. But I’m not sure if this is what you mean.
Hello,
yes, it will. It’s just another WordPress site with some extra plugins. The same rules apply. If you want to get updates for the new domain you will need to register your new domain in your WPML account. A new key will be generated for you.
I purchased the WPML Multilingual Blog version and everything seems to be working well, with the exception of the Widgets. I am trying to create separate footer Widgets for each language, so the website displays a different footer for each individual language. I saw that this feature isn’t available in the Multilingual Blog version but says you can Translate widgets in the Multilingual CMS version. If I upgrade to the Multilingual CMS, will I be able to create different footer widgets for each language?
Hello Albert,
yes, you can upgrade from the Blog version to the CMS version (and you will pay just the difference). The CMS version includes the WPML String Translation plugin which allows you to translate strings coming from your widgets as well. If your theme is compatible with WPML you should be able to translate all your widgets without any problems. Now, when you are our customer, you can also ask your question in our support forum where you will get a more accurate reply. Please note that you need to be logged in to your WPML account to be able to open a new forum ticket.
Hi there, I want to use the plugin for two languages – Scots and English. I want to make Scots the default language (first that is seen on website) but I know it won’t be in your list of languages. Is it possible to set up Scots as a language and then make it the default? If so is this available in all versions of the plugin?
I am looking to use WPML with a multi site install but I want to double check it is possible to get the domain structure that we desire using WPML. We want to have each website as a sub directory e.g:
Hello David,
for sure it’s possible to use it the other way around (sites as subdomains and languages as subdirectories) since this is how we use it ourselves in our discover-wp.com service, for example: https://classifieds.discover-wp.com/es/ But the way you need to have it handled, I need to double check with our devs since I can see some forum tickets indicating issues (but these might be some old ones). I’ll double check and will let you know.
The only limitation is that we can’t have the subdomains for the default language, or it needs to be the main domain for the network and the default language will have to be the same in all subsites.
Hi, I use toolset types for an old website I built long time ago when the plugin had a free version. I can no longer update the plugin as I dont have a subscription and I am thinking of buying the plugin or building the website from scratch. I would like to ask if you have a lifetime subscription for Toolset types plugin or if I could get a discount as I am already a customer (I have a WPML subscription) – Sorry for posting this here but I can’t contact Toolset Types because of having an account but not a subscription (weird)
This question concerns a situation where you bought a 3 website deal.
Do you automatically get back you max allowed number of websites with wpml?
More info. We will be building a wordpress+wmpl website on a temp domainname. So we would be using 1 out of 3 wpml allowed within the 3 website package. After we moved the site to its final domainname we won’t be using the temp. domainname for hosting the site. (so deleting the source content on the this temp domain).
Hello Karel,
Thanks for your interest. I am not sure what you mean with “automatically”. When you buy a CMS subscription you are allowed to register up to 3 sites. If you register a temporary url you can then remove it and this will free up a space for another registration.

Hi
I am facing a massive problem. We had a web developer, that did for several years our site, but our ways have now departed and I cannot get in touch with him.
He has installed WPML translation plugin on our site, but for some reason after the last update ALL text in the back end of the WordPress are gone? The boxes have 0 word count but strange enough on the online site we can still see all the text in each language. But here are they on the backend??
I Also have an error message saying the update is not completed and the pages will not work, so I am guessing that this is the main problem.
But I have no idea if he logged on with his own name, Please how can I transfer the plugin to us and get your support??
Hi i have question, I am web developer and i am currently working on a wocommerce store website, I install few plugin for rewards and discounts, but wmpl cannot allow me to change content on arabic version of website, on arabic version its still show english content, so how i fix this issue
Hello Faizan,
I am sorry to hear this. I am not a technical supporter and cannot help from here with your issue. Please go to our dedicated forum to clients, log in and start a new thread where one of our supporters will assist you https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/.
we are currently building a woocommerce multisite.
this will consist of 3-5 woocommerce websites that have synchronised users all across (products are not synced, each site has different -products)
All websites will be multilingual. I will be purchasing the Multilingual Agency license.
Before doing any purchase, I need to know if WPML will work smoothly with the multisite feature ON.
My client actually needs to be the one to make this purchase as they will be paying directly.
But I can’t tell what will happen at that point. Will they receive a code to authorize the use of the plugin? In other words, since they are not familiar with working in WP, I need to tell them what to expect once this is purchased and what they need to send me to complete the installation.
Hello Fred,
they will get access to their WPML account, which will include all the WPML plugins. You can ask them to share the credentials and continue the work. The first step would be to download the WPML plugin and install it.
If you already bought the Blog package and you want to upgrade to the CMS package you will find the link to do so in your account page: https://wpml.org/account/
Hello,
I’ve bought a WPML Multilingual Blog licence, that is now expired since a few weeks.
I’d like to renew my licence, with an upgrade to WPML Multilingual CMS
Is it possible to have the renewal price for the new licence ($59 instead of the full price for a new licence)?
Thanks & Regards
It should still work. Please log-in to your (expired) WPML account. Even through it’s expired, you can login without downloads. Then, you will see the upgrade/renewal options.
My wife runs a bilingual food blog for a living (https://www.delscookingtwist.com) and has seen tremendous growth in the past year. As a result, we’ve changed things around (new host – siteground; Yoast SEO Premium…; WP Tasty Recipe Plugin) and we are now looking into the translation plugin.
We currently use QTranslate-X (we previously used QTranslate and migrated when it died). We’ve not migrated to QTranslate-XT yet and are considering either that or switching to WPML. QTranslate-X has worked well for us. It can handle pretty much anything (including menus – in spite of what your comparison chart says) but has quirks. For instance, it requires the use of [:en] in places where the translation is not “natively” supported. And in particular, it does not support translated slugs (we want to have English URLs and localized ones for SEO purposes) and integrates poorly with Yoast.
We’re concerned about QTranslate’s history which is why we are considering WPML. Also, we want smooth integration with Yoast (and/or All-in-one SEO) and support for translated URLs/slugs. It seems you support these features but wanted to get confirmation from you.
Lastly, how easy is it to migrate? We have 400+ posts, translated widgets and menus.
This plugin will take care of posts and taxonomy. There may be a few leftovers for you to edit manually, but it will take care of the bulk of the work.

Hello, yes, you would need to add Scots manually as explained in this tutorial:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/ and then make it the default.
Hi
I am looking to use WPML with a multi site install but I want to double check it is possible to get the domain structure that we desire using WPML. We want to have each website as a sub directory e.g:
mysite.com/site-1
mysite.com/site-2
mysite.com/site-3
We then want to have each language version as a subdomain with the language code so we would end up with something like the following:
en.mysite.com/site-1
fr.mysite.com/site-1
en.mysite.com/site-2
fr.mysite.com/site-2
en.mysite.com/site-3
fr.mysite.com/site-3
Is this possible?
Many thanks
David

Thanks Agnes, that would be great if you can. Our SEO Team have requested the pattern I mentioned so it would be great if it is possible.
Many thanks
David
Hello David,
thank you for your patience. It’s a rare configuration and we needed time to test it out. Here are the results. In general, it works, however, it requires to follow some steps:
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network => Setup a multisite with sub sites in folders
– https://wpml.org/documentation/support/multisite-support/languages-in-domains-for-wordpress-multisite-mode/
The only limitation is that we can’t have the subdomains for the default language, or it needs to be the main domain for the network and the default language will have to be the same in all subsites.
https://wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/subdomains.png
This is still marked as “experimental”, but this has been running for a while now and my team says they don’t remember recent issues.
We hope it helps.
Hi Agnes
That is fantastic. Many thanks for confirming.
All the best
David

As a WPML user you have access to download Types. You need to log in to your account and you will see it here https://wpml.org/account/downloads/
We no longer offer lifetime subscriptions for any of our products, I am afraid.

We need to purchase Gravity form multilingual 1.5 ( https://wpml.org/version/gravityforms-multilingual-1-5-0/ ) will that come with the ‘Multilingual Blog’ plan?

WPML lets you translate everything coming from Yoast SEO, slugs, menus, etc. We’ve created a migration plugin that converts your content from qTranslate X to WPML:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/
This plugin will take care of posts and taxonomy. There may be a few leftovers for you to edit manually, but it will take care of the bulk of the work.
