  1. Hello,

Will WPML work with Jigoshop store? Wil it translate product categories and all sort of text that it belongs to the store engine?

  2. Hi the People Behind WPML,
I planed to buy as soon as possible your WPML plugin (the cms version) but I’m wondering if my wordpress theme will be compatible. I know you says that “Every theme or plugin that uses WordPress API runs multilingual with WPML”, but actually, my theme is a “one page theme” as you can see : http://www.kaneisnotdead.com
Thank you for telling me what you think.
    Regards

  3. Hi there,
I’m already using the old (free) version of WPML. I’m going to update my website (http://juku.it) with a new time that I’ll buy from woothemes.com.
these themes are very complex and full of personalization features, do you know if your solution is compatible with that kind of themes?
    how can I check?
    thank you in advance,
    Enrico

    • We work with WooThemes to ensure compatibility between WPML and their themes. This is going very well. If you buy WPML now, I’m sure that you’ll enjoy the results.

    • We will probably need to talk with the authors of wp-members and add some code, so that it passes this information via translation. If you are their client, can you check if they have time to spend on this compatibility with us?

  4. I just tried to purchase the plugin using Paypal, but Paypal says I’m required to add a credit or debit card to my account to make this purchase.
On your website it says: “Bank-transfer payments via PayPal take several days to process. When the transfer completes, you will be able to login and download WPML.” How can we make use of that option? We don’t have a corporate credit card, but want to use our corporate bank account (which is connected with our paypal account) to make this purchase.

    • These are PayPal’s rules. We have no control over how it works there. If you’re not happy with PayPal, you can also pay for WPML using Google Checkout. I’m not sure if there’s a bank transfer option for Google Checkout, but it accepts different cards.

      • Google Checkout has no option for bank transfers. So you are telling me I can’t purchase your plugin without a credit or debit card?

        • To repeat my question, is it possible to purchase your plugin without a credit or debit card? I still want to buy this plugin…

  5. Just bought the $79.00 package, and saw this in my account

    Your Subscription
Multilingual CMS Expires on November 21, 2013.

Doew this mean i have to buy the program again next year.
Or is this just for updates and support?

    Thx.

    • You can continue using WPML as long as you need on your sites. Your purchase comes with a year of support and updates. After one year, we charge an additional 50% to renew updates and support.

  6. Hello,
I have previously purchased WPML but my subscription has expired (Feb 10 2012). This was already an extension form a previous registration. Can I still get the 50% rebate for extension or do I now have to pay the full price again?
How do I get the discount? I canot find any reference to that in my account management area.
    Thank you

    • The 50% renewals discount is only available while your account is valid. Once the account expires, we charge the full amount again and you can buy again at any time.

    • For WooCommerce, you will need the CMS version. I see that you just bought it, so you’re good. Please note that our developers are completing a major update for our WooCommerce support. The current version is OK, but we are making updates to match recent new features in WooCommerce. This should be ready next week on Monday or Tuesday.

I will write a blog post that explains that new features and fixes and how to use it. Until then, have a great weekend.

  7. Just to be sure, I’m interested in having an English version of my site, spanish would be the main language and there would be a link somewhere that allows the user to switch to english version. I’d do the translating myself. Nothing much else needed. Will the blog version do fine?

    • WPML does exactly as you’re describing. It’s a tool that lets you translate yourself. The main difference between the Blog and CMS versions, in your case, would be the String Translation module. It lets you translate texts that don’t belong to any post or taxonomy. The tagline, widget titles and other ‘general’ texts fall under this category. If you need to translate them, you should probably get the full CMS version.

  8. Hi,
I am interested in buying your plugin, but I have some questions. I am working with geotheme from themetailors and they recomended this plugin for multilingual support.
Do you have any case with geotheme and does it work good or will I have any problem with that? Should I go for basic plan of your theme? When you like a facebook link in my site would it be separate from the same link in other language?
What kind of support do you offer?
    Thanks a lot!
I would be grateful if you reply in email.

    • Since WPML uses different posts and pages for different languages, when people Like a page, it applies to that exact one, in a specific language. WPML doesn’t mix between translations on the same URL.

I don’t think that we’ve worked with Themetailors on WPML compatibility. At least, I don’t see it here:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/

We would be very happy to work with them together and check that their themes and WPML work smoothly together. As their client, do you want to check with them? Please refer them to our Go Global program and we’ll take it from there:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/

When you buy WPML, you receive support from our dedicated and professional support team. Right now, this includes three full time developers, doing support.

      • Hi,

Do you have anything new related to geotheme? Is it compatible with it? I use this theme and really wonder if it’s compatible with the WPML before buying. Let me know please

        • I’m not what’s happening with GeoThemes developers. We worked with them to make the necessary updates in their theme, but they seem to have vanished. If you’re their client, it may ask if you remind them about WPML compatibility.

          • in their pre-sale forum they wrote it’s compatible with WMPL. But i need to be sure about that. I contacted but got nothing.

  9. Hello. I’m using a WP theme called Danko from Themes Kingdom. The site is going to be primarily in Japanese. However the site is only displaying part of the Japanese text and some characters display strangely or not at all. Will purchasing WPML solve this problem?

    Thank you

    • I think that the character encoding issue that you are seeing will not change with WPML. You need to make sure that your database, and all the files in the theme use UTF-8 charset. From what you’re describing, it sounds like there’s a mix of character sets. Before going multilingual, you should get that fixed. Otherwise, the problems will only grow.

      • Thanks Amir. All the collations in the database are set to utf8_unicode_ci. The information schema is all set to utf8_general_ci and I don’t know how to change it to the unicode one or even if it matters. It’s taken me a month to do this site and now at the last hurdle I can’t publish it. Is there anything else you can think of?

        Thank you!

          • Thanks for your reply Amir. You’d think I’d be fine with those settings but certain bits of the Japanese don’t display still. I’m not sure if it is a CSS problem, WordPress problem, theme problem or what. Unfortunately there’s not point in me purchasing WPML until I resolve this.

You can see at http://www.globalize.jpn.com/services/ – there should be Japanese text next to those images but there isn’t. Going into the post however, the Japanese displays just fine.

  10. Hello,

Does WPML support RTL and non latin languages such as Arabic? When used with Woocommece, will that mean that “products” will be duplicated (I am concerned that when using two languages, I will end up with two different stock levels for each product and not one).

    Thanks.

    • WPML works fine with RTL languages, and non-Latin characters. It’s fully localized into Arabic and most Asian languages. Make sure that your site uses UTF-8 character set and everything will display correctly with non-Latin characters.

WPML will indeed produce different products for each language, but it works with WooCommerce to synchronize the stock. When you sell, it doesn’t matter in which language people order. The stock will be synchronized always.

    • Almost all our clients need tax invoices. After you buy WPML, you will receive a tax invoice for your accounting. You can customize your details in the invoice, to match your book-keeping requirements.

    • We want to work with Elegant Themes developers on WPML compatibility, but they are not replying to us. If you are their client, you can remind them that you too need it. If more people ask it from them, it can help speed things up.

    • You can use WPML with Korean characters. Please note that WPML does not translate content. It lets you translate yourself and run a site with several languages.

  11. Hi I purchased the WPML Multilingual CMS for a client project last year. I did not renew the subscription but I am thinking of using WPML blog for another project. I thought I could buy the blogging version but somehow I can’t. How do I get just the blog version if I already have the CMS version? Thanks.

  12. I am concerned with WPML’s effect on SEO. I know google prefers a clear distinction between languages ie. separation in subdomains or subfolders. How does WPML handle SEO concerns?
How are multilingual themes handled? Are child themes created?

    • Since WPML places translations in different posts in the database, it’s very easy to optimize for search engines. Our experience shows us that Google doesn’t really care if you place languages in directories or domains. WPML lets you do both, so that’s up to you.

If you use an SEO plugin, you will have a very easy time with WPML. You will get different SEO attributes for each language and can separately control the titles, meta description and content for each language.
