  1. Hi

    I have web site

    https://meltropical.com.br/

I would like to have my web page in 10+ different languages.

I do not want to use automatic Google or some other translation service.

For every language I have my team of people who translate text for me and after that my page administrator upload in WordPress.

My question to you is , does your WPML Translation support as a WordPress plugin multinligual web site , 10+ languages

One more question can I add in to your Loco translation plugin ex Yugoslavian flag with the abbreviation YU or YUG …..Serbia , Croatia , Bosnia and Hertzegovina . Montenegro they all speak same language with different dialects and I want to mark all of it with ex Yugoslav flag and YU or YUG abbreviation.

    Best regards

    4. Can you explain more about credit meaning in depth?
    5. The most important question, How the plugin is SEO friendly? as my main aim is to make more earning via google adsesne.

    Thanks a lot.

Looking forward to hear from you at earliest.

  3. Why can’t I download previous version of WPML with my past purchase. I don’t want updates or support but to download the plugin I’ve purchased.

    • Hello,
thank you for contacting us. Let me explain your status and options. Your WPML subscription expired in 2018. We have fixed a lot of errors (including providing security fixes) since then. It doesn’t make sense to use old versions of WPML that are not compatible with WordPress recent releases and include security vulnerabilities. For example, WordPress 6.1 (November 20220) introduced a conflict with WPML plugins that cause critical errors on sites using WPML if WPML is not updated. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to use old versions of WPML. You would need to reactive your WPML subscription to get access to WPML plugins.

    • Hello,
I found a similar error reported in our system but I’m not sure if this is the same one you are reporting. I need to wait for our developers to confirm it and see how this can be fixed or work around. I didn’t find your user email in our system so I will also check with our partnership manager if we are in touch with your company. Officially, a WPML account is required to report technical issues and this needs to go through our support forum. Of course, for our partners, we can provide free access. I will keep you posted.

    • Hi again,
our developers are will look into the issue you reported, they know but ideally we would like you to report through our support forum. If this message comes from your client who uses WPML, please ask them to open a WPML ticket when they are logged into their wpml.org account. If you would like to report this yourself and you don’t have an account with us, please let me know and I will connect you with our partnership manager to create a free account for you.

  5. Hey there,

I have a website using Polylang, I am thinking about migrating to WPML but am worried about issues with migration and support in this process.

I’d much rather stay in Polylang if the migration process will take too long or will cause issues, but I heard WPML offers a better solution including automatic translations, and I am looking to explore it.

    Looking forward to your reply!
    Lear

    • Hello Lear,
thank you for your interest in WPML. If you are not sure yet if it goes fine with WPML replacing Polylang, the best option would be to test this out on a copy of your site.
Many hosting providers offer an option/feature/service to create a copy of your website. Testing the migration process on your production site is risky. The reason is that WPML and Polylang work similarly and they can conflict and you cannot run both at the same time.

The process could be the following:
On a copy of your site:
      1. Deactivate Polylang
      2. Install WPML
      3. Activate WPML
      a) when registering WPML and when it asks you how many translation credits to assign please add a small number e.g. 5000
      b) complete the WPML wizard. Select “Let me choose what to translate” mode (don’t select “Translate everything”)
      4. Translate a few pages with WPML using automatic translations. If it goes fine, please test a few more other pages or something else (posts, categories, strings).
If you like WPML and it works without any issues, you can do the same on your production site.

  6. Bonjour.

  7. Hello,

I see that there are three types of annual payment.

I am interested in the WPML Multilingual CMS product.

I would like to ask if there is the possibility of a one-time payment.

    Regards
    A.P.

    • Hello,
when you buy WPML, our system will create an account with automatical yearly renewals but you can go to your account settings and switch to manual renewals (this is explained on this page: https://wpml.org/purchase/wpml-renewal/ in the FAQ section “How do I switch to manual renewals?”) and this way it will be a one-time payment.

  8. Hey Agnes,

Yes I am aware of the option to create a staging copy of a website to test things out, this will of course be the case in this instance.

I still however have some questions:

Do you offer a free version for the test? or a trial period?

What kind of support do you offer? in general and in particular for migration?

    • No, we don’t offer any free version to test but our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without risking your money: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
We offer general support. When you go to our support forum you can have a live chat with one of our technical experts. If no one is available you can open a regular support ticket.

  9. Hello. On 03/04/2023, I bought your extension for the translation of my WordPress.com site: artafocal.com. My problem is that I can’t remember my license key or my email address used. I only have my bank statement as proof, but I can’t find any way to send it to you as an attachment. Thank you very much in advance for your understanding and assistance in finding my purchase made from my bank Société Général Maroc. In the meantime, all the best to you Ahmed.”

    • Hello,
are you sure you bought WPML at WordPress.com site? You need to buy WPML from this site (wpml.org). Please send us an email to hello@wpml.org with details. We will try to find you in our system.

  10. Hi , we are interested in your plugin and we want our site to be translated to 3 languages ,and you please consult about price , we need to automatically translate it , so we got estimated price for automatic translation , and so we need to buy a plugin also can it be basic tariff ?And we need to know does it translates automatically comments (we have our site on WooCommerce) ? Please reply to us on our Email ASAP.

    • Hello,
here you can check the pricing for automatic translation:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/

Two options are covered and you will find an interactive calculator in the “How much does automatic translation cost?” section.

Please note that you will get 90 000 translation credits for free when buying the CMS package.

The basic plan (Multilingual Blog) doesn’t allow you to translate automatically.

No, WPML doesn’t translate comments. We plan to add this option in the future.

    • Hello, we don’t have the Lifetime option but renewals are optional. You can go to your account settings and switch to manual renewals (this is explained on this page: https://wpml.org/purchase/wpml-renewal/ in the FAQ section “How do I switch to manual renewals?”) and this way it will be a one-time payment for you. WPML will continue working on your site without your subscription but of course, we cannot anticipate what will happen if you update WordPress and you don’t update WPML.

  11. Hi, I am using the licensed elessi theme on my website and they offer wpml as language support, so I want to buy it, but my question is, my site appeals to the Arab community, so if I buy it, will the right-to-left view be active while the Arabic language is active on the site? thanks

    • Hello,
if your theme supports RTL, you can also add Right to Left languages using WPML and it will work. Please make sure that your theme itself supports RTL.

  12. Hi – we have current WP site that has 20-30 pages/posts all written in the default language Eng.

Our clients wants a Welsh version of the site however, they may not want “all” the current pages/posts visible on the translated version.

    For example:
Page “ABC” requires to be available on both the “default lang” and the “Welsh translated site” but page “XYZ” doesn’t need to be even visible on the translated version.

    1. Is this possible – how would you suggest to do this?

    2. Would it be best to perhaps then use a different domain for the translated version (rather than virtual folders “/cy/” and avoid having language switching altogether) so that the site navigation can then also contain different page links etc

    Many thanks

    KB

  13. Thanks Agnes.

If we choose option A (Let me choose what to translate) I guess then later on if a page/post that was not translated originally – but then later we decide we do need it translated, we can then manually do it later?
    thx

    • Yes, of course. You can translate a page (which hasn’t been translated) at any time, both manually or automatically.

    • Yes, upgrading from the CMS package to the Multilingual Agency is possible and our system will charge you only the difference between the two. You need to be logged into your WPML.org account and you will see an option to upgrade on your wpml.org https://wpml.org/account/

    • Hello Sebastian, when you buy WPML a yearly subscription is set up (which you can cancel at any time and still use WPML) but you will get a 25% discount for the next year(s).

  14. Hello, do you know if WPML is compatible with MediaVine’s Trellis themes?
Also, does WPML affect page speed?
    Thank you!

    • Hello,
WPML hasn’t been tested for compatibility with MediaVine’s Trellis themes. If these themes work similarly to any other WordPress themes, there is a good chance they will work with WPML too but if these themes provide some custom (non-standard) features, built-in “element/page builders”, we might not be compatible. We take performance seriously and WPML shouldn’t affect your site’s speed. If it does, you can contact our support and our experts will investigate your site to see what causing the potential delays.

  15. Hi,

Does WPML work with WooCommerce Local Pickup Plus plugin?
I’m planning to build a woo commerce website with 2-3 languages, with Local Pickup Plus installed.

If yes, is there any documentation \ Youtube tutorials that can guide me?
And which plan will I need to purchase?

    Thank you,
    Michal

  16. Does WPML integrate with Trados?

Can WPML create notification emails for different languages, if so how is the users language determined?

    Thank you in advance.

    You asked:

So as the client I opened a support ticket per you instructions with all data.
    Expecting your rapid resolve.

    • Thank you for opening the ticket. Someone from our support will get back to you. I left an internal note for the supporter to cross-link your case with a similar issue that is being investigated by our developers.

  18. Good afternoon!
I plan to use only English on my site, but there will be more than 5 regions, should I buy your plugin in this case?
will it be possible not to set the translation for each individual region?

    • Katerina, if your goal is to skip translating some of your pages, WPML allows you to do so but in this case you would need to select the “Let me choose what to translate” mode when setting up WPML rathen than “Translate everything”. This way you can translate (both manually and/or automatically) only the pages of your choice. For untranslated pages the language switcher (that thing with the flags) won’t show. I’m not sure what you mean by regions but if you need add some non-standard languages please follow this guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/

  19. Agnes thanks for your quick reply.

For my question: Can WPML create notification emails for different languages, if so how is the users language determined?

We are wanting to use Gravity forms to send out notices but need to be able to change the language of the email notice sent out. Since the users would be logging in and then form filling, would it just be easier to create individual forms based upon their language or could we have a gravity form form that is initially created in English and then using WPML modify it in the languages we need.

All of the translations have already been completed by hand so we just need a way to swap out the text vs having a third party service do the translation.

Thinking worst case since the user will need to be logged in to form fill we can always just show a form that is specific to that individual language the only downside is that we would then have X number of duplicate forms in different languages.

    Thanks

    • Hi Steve,
WPML is compatible with Gravity Forms and allows you to translate email notifications from Gravity Forms too. We provide a glue plugin (called Gravity Forms Multilingual) that makes it possible. Usually there are two ways to translate the email notifications for the form:
      1) When you translate the form, the strings from the form will be included too (to translate automatically or manually)
      2) If option 1 is not possible, you will be able to translate the email notifications through the WPML String Translation plugin
      https://cdn.wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/10887555-Screen_Shot_2022_03_28_at_12.11.01_pm.png
In either case, when the user visits a page in lang X and this page includes a form with email notifications, they will get the email notification in the form language (provided you have translated the content of this email).
Here’s the documentation on how to translate Gravity Form content:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/gravity-forms-multilingual/
I have asked our documentation team to add a section that covers translating email notifications.

  20. Hello team,

There are some functionalities that we would like some confirmation about.

    1. Is there an option to translate only specific content? We will be using the plugin to translate only the blog post pages. Our website content is very vast, with 500+ blog posts and 100+ pages, so excluding the URLs option won’t be convenient. If there isn’t such an option, will it be possible via adding some code to the theme’s functions.php file or something?
    2. How does the plugin handles tags like , , etc. inside a sentence? Does it consider it separate from the rest of the sentence or consider the entire sentence while translating?

    Thank you!

    • Hello,
yes, there is. You can select certain pages and posts and apply automatic translation to only these in bulk. When setting up WPML, don’t select “Translate everything” but “Let me choose what to translate”.
Something got broken in your second question and I’m not sure what’s your question. Could you repeat it, please?
