I am looking to add translations to my site, initially just to show different pricing for other English-speaking countries we are starting to deliver in (UK, USA, Australia e.t.c).
Our WordPress site is basically just a brochure site that provides information and then passes people into our custom app, we do not use or need woo-commerce as we provide a digital service with a totally custom subscription experience. Your website seems to refer to WordPress translations but when I go to install it it seems to be for and requires woo-commerce.
Is there a way to use this without woocommerce or would I have to have woocommerce installed to use the normal WordPress features? (even if I am not using any of the woocommerce features)

WPML can be used with non-WooCommerce sites too, no problem at all. I think you must be using something else because we don’t provide WPML for free. Maybe you are confusing WPML with this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-multilingual/?
This plugin has been created by our team too and indeed is meant for WooCommerce sites. But if you buy the Blog or the CMS package from our website, you will get a diffrent plugin. The Blog package is for users with simple blog sites who don’t need automatic translations. The vast majority of our clients buys the Multilingual CMS package.
Hello from Ukraine! I am starting a personal blog, the site is blank still, but my plan is to write a few blogposts a month. My main language is Ukrainian, however, I am fluent in English as well and like to have my content in both languages to increase traffic (so SEO is a priority). I would like to monetise my blog with Google Adsense (at least in the beginning) and maybe later sell some products (but not in the first year for sure).

2. Yes, when you translate a post or a page, WPML created a new post/page which will be indexed by Google. If you use one of the popular SEO plugins, you can also translate the meta titles and description if needed. For this you will need the WPML SEO plugin, which is included in the Blog package too.
3. I don’t know much about ads and how these are added to your WordPress site. Do you ask if you want to translate the ads? If so, this might not be possible with the Blog package.
4. Yes, WPML works both with the Kadence Blocks and the Kadence theme.
5. Yes, WPML allows you to translate menus and buttons that are part of the contents of your pages/posts. So for example, you have a button inside your page/post, you will be able to translate it. But if this bottom is coming from some templates or theme options, the Blog package might not be enough.

This the the price for the first year updates and access to our technical support. 1. You won’t get access to updates for the following plugins:
a) WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency
b) WPML String Translation
because they are available only in the CMS type of accounts.
2. The WPML Multilingual CMS plugin will work (and you will have access to updates) but you will lost some of the funtionalities:
a) you won’t see the WPML Advance Translation Editor any more
b) you won’t get access to WPML > Translation Management
If your site have been actively using those two plugins, you should keep them up to date, otherwise it can lead to unexpected issues.

But you can switch this editor off and open your translated page in the standard WordPress editor (or in your Elementor/Divi/WP Bakery tool) and translate the content manually as you would create that page in the original language. And this is what we call “Standard translation control”

To translate automatically you need translation credits. You will get 90 000 credits when you buy WPML. It will allow you to translate 45 000 words. When you translate your pages, by default the Advanced Translation Editor will be used. You can click the translate automatically button or translate the page manually.

Yes, there might be some elements on your site that would not get translated. You will need to translate these elements manually using the String Translation plugin. There might be cases that you might not translate some of your elements at all, especially if you use some less-popular plugins that add many non-standard texts to the front-end.

We use DeepL, Google Translate and Miscosoft translation tools. You can test them all in their online equivalents (for example https://www.deepl.com/translator). The DeepL provides the best quality. Please copy-past one of your page’s contents into the editor and check the translation yourself. You will get the same results when using WPML but in addition WPML will handle formatting, URLs etc.
How would the translation impact the look and feel of the web page on desktop and mobile devices?
If your theme/plugin has been coded according to the best designing practices, you won’t have such problems. A good UX designer takes such aspects into account to make the buttons adjust to the flexible text. You can manual edit/update any text that has been translated automatically and you can always make these translations shorter if needed.

You can still hire a human translator, add them to your WPML site with te translator role and even allow them use automatic translations. Most of the professional translators use automatic translation these days anyway and make edits to these translation. Such approach allows them to save time. Alternatively, you can use WPML to translate your site with the review option and have someone review the translations (and again, make edits where needed).

I can’t find the pricing and download for that page, although Hostinger affiliate link states it’s $29/year renewal. automatic translation by WPML is something you can use but you don’t have to. If you don’t want to use automatic translation, please do the following:
1. When setting up WPML please choose “Let me Choose what to translate” instead “Translate Automatically”
2. When you open your translation in the WPML editor, please make sure you have the auto-translation option switched off. Then, you will be able to provide your own translation, yes, you can copy-paste from ChatGPT too. You can also update the automatic translations by WPML with your translations.

WPML String Translation
I want to know if I renew the plugin using “Multilingual Blog” plan, can I update all of these plugins? I have only one website and I don’t need to these plugins for other websites.

if you renew your account by purchasing the “Multilingual Blog” plan, here’s what will happen:
1. You won’t get access to updates for the following plugins:
a) WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency
b) WPML String Translation
because they are available only in the CMS type of accounts.
2. The WPML Multilingual CMS plugin will work (and you will have access to updates) but you will lost some of the funtionalities:
a) you won’t see the WPML Advance Translation Editor any more
b) you won’t get access to WPML > Translation Management
If your site have been actively using those two plugins, you should keep them up to date, otherwise it can lead to unexpected issues.
Hello, Our developer is suggesting WPML as a plug-in option for our new website in development. We have some questions about your plug-in:
Please elaborate on what you mean by “standard translation controls” vs. “advanced translation editor”. The explanation under neath each feature does not make sense to me. E.g. “translate content using the WordPress editor” and “Use WPML’s side-by-side translation”.
For the multilingual CMS option, when you say 90,000 translation credits, what does this mean? Does it mean that each time a page is translated by the plug-in a credit is used?
For the multilingual CMS option, which default translation feature would be used up first? Is there an order to this? I’m not understanding all the features. It would be really helpful to see a demo, a video, or a document of how the plug-in works.
Are there elements on a webpage that would not get translated?
How accurate are your translations? And would the translated verbiage make sense in the translated language?
How would the translation impact the look and feel of the web page on desktop and mobile devices? For example, on a button that says “Sign Up Now”, if the translated term takes up more or less space, would the developer need to take care of that to make sure the button width is responsive relative to the text or character amount?
Where does hiring an actual translator fit into this picture? Is there shortfalls in the plug-in that I should use a human translator?

thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.

But you can switch this editor off and open your translated page in the standard WordPress editor (or in your Elementor/Divi/WP Bakery tool) and translate the content manually as you would create that page in the original language. And this is what we call “Standard translation control”
To translate automatically you need translation credits. You will get 90 000 credits when you buy WPML. It will allow you to translate 45 000 words. Credits are used when you translate a page for the first time and then, for the sentences that required an update if you updated in your original pages.

When you translate your pages, by default the Advanced Translation Editor will be used. You can click the translate automatically button or translate the page manually.
When you set up WPML, it will ask you which translation mode to choose. Please check this video: https://youtu.be/k5Qhmhp31jk to see what happens if you choose the “Translate Automatically” mode.
Yes, there might be some elements on your site that would not get translated. You will need to translate these elements manually using the String Translation plugin. There might be cases that you might not translate some of your elements at all, especially if you use some less-popular plugins that add many non-standard texts to the front-end.
We use DeepL, Google Translate and Miscosoft translation tools. You can test them all in their online equivalents (for example https://www.deepl.com/translator). The DeepL provides the best quality. Please copy-past one of your page’s contents into the editor and check the translation yourself. You will get the same results when using WPML but in addition WPML will handle formatting, URLs etc.
If your theme/plugin has been coded according to the best designing practices, you won’t have such problems. A good UX designer takes such aspects into account to make the buttons adjust to the flexible text. You can manual edit/update any text that has been translated automatically and you can always make these translations shorter if needed.
You can still hire a human translator, add them to your WPML site with te translator role and even allow them use automatic translations. Most of the professional translators use automatic translation these days anyway and make edits to these translation. Such approach allows them to save time. Alternatively, you can use WPML to translate your site with the review option and have someone review the translations (and again, make edits where needed).

Yes, WPML works with Divi.
WPML works with Slider Revolution too but you need to create separate sliders for each language and provide manual translations. This process is explained in this tutorial: https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/creating-multilingual-sliders-with-revolution-slider-and-wpml/

Hello, I previously bought WPML and apparently it has expired. I noticed you have a Blog Package. That is what I need as we manually translate all content. I can’t find the pricing and download for that page, although Hostinger affiliate link states it’s $29/year renewal. Can you please direct me to Blog Package and if I buy it can it translate media, strings, categories etc.?

Nevermind, I found the features and they’re really aren’t any in the Blog Package.

That’s great because WPML is too expensive in Egypt, considering that USD equals 31 EGP, which is quite high. So, I have no problem negotiating with this seller to add my website to his account for a small amount of money. Without having WPML support, I am fine with that. I just want to make sure it’s legal.
Please provide pricing in Egyptian pounds (EGP) as it’s more affordable for us, allowing us to buy directly from you instead of relying on other sources.
Yes, you can use WPML that was registred by someone else (with the limitations I mentioned). Thank you for your feedback about making WPML more affordable for clients from other countries. I will share it with out management.

Hello Mirek,
automatic translation by WPML is something you can use but you don’t have to. If you don’t want to use automatic translation, please do the following:
1. When setting up WPML please choose “Let me Choose what to translate” instead “Translate Automatically”
2. When you open your translation in the WPML editor, please make sure you have the auto-translation option switched off. Then, you will be able to provide your own translation, yes, you can copy-paste from ChatGPT too. You can also update the automatic translations by WPML with your translations.
