Our company needs to buy WPML Multilingual CMS, to resell it to a client. Our client is a Public School. Is there any legal problem if we buy it and the user is our client? you can use WPML for any client, no problem at all. Yes, it’s legal but you don’t resell WPML but the service your offer. Many of our clients do this – they buy WPML but then they use it for their clients. Please note that only the person whose email address you provided on the checkout (when buying WPML) will be getting emails from us (with initial password and other emails). You can edit the data that will appear on your invoice in your WPML account. So the most importnat is the email address.

Hello, you can translate automatically or manually using WPML or mix those two methods. If you want to translate automatically, you need to use credits. You will get 90 000 credits for free and these can be used to translate 45 000 words. I’m not sure if you are asking about the search in Google or within the site but both will work for websites created with WPML.
Case 1: internal search
Yes, WPML, when set up correctly can return search results in the other languages.

3. You sill see the product returned in the search result

This site is in Arabic and translated to English but it works the same the other way around.

Grab any name of the product (or a piece of its description) and put it Google, you will see the site returned in the search results

and you can simply use these translations (please check the table to see if has been translated to the languages you plan to add to your site)

If you want us to check your WPML issues, you would need to buy WPML again, install WPML again and then open a ticket with the performance topic. Then someone from our support will ask you for access to your site to investigate it further.
1) How exactly does WPML store translated posts and pages? As I assume they are not stored inside their own post taxonomy (and database table) or are they? Assume we would not renew the WPML license, would the posts continue to exist? Can we somehow export them?
2) We still use the “old” wordpress backend editor inside our install. Is it possible to use WPML this way, or is the only option to use your translation editor, which shows the paragraphs / strings one by one?
3) What if we already have certain posts fully translated? Is it possible to just copy & paste their current existing content into the according translated post in WPML (which would mean, just pasting them into the wordpress editor)?
4) We are going to use DeepL ; I assume the WPML credits from the Multilingual CMS plan, will then simply not be touched / used?
5) When using DeepL -> does WPML only send paragraphs and strings to DeepL one by one but the entire article at once? As we have noticed DeepL translation to be better if full articles are translated together rather than just single paragraphs or strings.

1) WPML creates the pages with translations and keep them in your WordPress database but it also stores them on our servers to use the so-called translation memory. You can still use WPML even if you cancel your WPML subscription and you can keep the translations. Translated post and pages are still your WordPress posts and pages but in another language.
2) You can use the WordPress editor instead of the the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). To disable ATE, open your original page for editing and head to the right-hand site sidebar and the Languages sections. You will see a button to switch it off. Please note that if you switch ATE off you won’t be able to translate automatically.
3) Yes, you can copy-paste your translations. If you follow #2 and you use the WordPress editor, it’s pretty fast. If you use page builders, it will take longer.
4) No, it doesn’t work the way you think it does I’m afraid. You cannot use your own DeepL API key if this is what you would hope to do. You must assign translation credits to translate automatically. You will get 90 000 credits in the package that will allow you to translate 45 000 words using DeepL.
5) It sends the entire article at once to get better translation based on the whole context.

1) We have around 1.2 million words which will have to get translated….I thought we would be simply able to connect our own DeepL API key, with their pricing rate of $25.00 per 1,000,000 characters. Would you be able to give me an estimate how much translating 1.2million words into 2 languages (Spanish and English) would amount to with WPML?

not really. Only clients who keep their WPML activate without any break will get the discount. Considers these scenario:
Case 1. You purchased WPML on October 30, 2023. You switched to manual renewals and you forgot to renew your subscription October 30, 2024. It expired, we sent you a reminder, you didn’t react and didn’t do anything. Then you remembered to renew your subscription on November 20, 2024. You won’t get the discount. You need to pay the full price again.
Case 2. You purchased WPML on October 30, 2023. You switched to manual renewals and you renew it on October 30, 2024 (or before). You will get the discount and you will pay 75% when renewing it.
If you keep the automatic renewals, you won’t forget to renew because it will renew automatically (provided you have funds on your card/PayPal). Hope it helps.

WPML allows you to translate your existing pages to other languages. When you translate with WPML, the settings and the markup of your page layouts don’t change so if your a specific page is WCAG compatible in your original language, it will be in the other languages too (WPML create a copy of it when translating it). The only thing WPML adds to your front-end is the language switcher. But there are many ways to create the language switcher and you can also create your own one in case you need to provide something extra for WCAG. We have inherited this site from a previous web agency that has the registration for the plugin. Now that we have upgraded our WordPress and PHO versions the plugin no longer works. you can buy WPML (the Multilingual CMS package is the right one to choose for the set of plugins you listed) for yourself and re-register your site with your own key. This will allow you to access WPML updates and contact with our support team to discuss any of your WPML issues. Please note that you are using very old versions of WPML and upgrading them old to the most recent versions might not work. In such cases, we recommend a gradual upgrade. Our support team will explain the details on how to proceed in such case.
Apparently I do not have anymore a registration for a website, and the only thing we need is the Multicurrency support for WooCommerce.

if you sign up for Pay-as-you-go you will get invoices directly to the email address you have used when subscribing for Pay-as-you-go (which do you in WPML > Translation Management > Tools). You will see the credits usage in the same part of the interface: WPML > Translation Management > Tools. There is a section there to see your credit invoices too.

At this moment it is not possible to differentiate per language for our Translate Everything tool. However, you can always manually select the content that you want to automatic translate, in that way you can select all the Dutch to English content and just the important pages for Arabic and Ukranian:

3) What if we already have certain posts fully translated? Is it possible to just copy & paste their current existing content into the according translated post in WPML (which would mean, just pasting them into the wordpress editor)?
4) We are going to use DeepL ; I assume the WPML credits from the Multilingual CMS plan, will then simply not be touched / used?
5) When using DeepL -> does WPML only send paragraphs and strings to DeepL one by one but the entire article at once? As we have noticed DeepL translation to be better if full articles are translated together rather than just single paragraphs or strings.

1) WPML creates the pages with translations and keep them in your WordPress database but it also stores them on our servers to use the so-called translation memory. You can still use WPML even if you cancel your WPML subscription and you can keep the translations. Translated post and pages are still your WordPress posts and pages but in another language.
2) You can use the WordPress editor instead of the the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). To disable ATE, open your original page for editing and head to the right-hand site sidebar and the Languages sections. You will see a button to switch it off. Please note that if you switch ATE off you won’t be able to translate automatically.
3) Yes, you can copy-paste your translations. If you follow #2 and you use the WordPress editor, it’s pretty fast. If you use page builders, it will take longer.
4) No, it doesn’t work the way you think it does I’m afraid. You cannot use your own DeepL API key if this is what you would hope to do. You must assign translation credits to translate automatically. You will get 90 000 credits in the package that will allow you to translate 45 000 words using DeepL.
5) It sends the entire article at once to get better translation based on the whole context.

1) We have around 1.2 million words which will have to get translated….I thought we would be simply able to connect our own DeepL API key, with their pricing rate of $25.00 per 1,000,000 characters. Would you be able to give me an estimate how much translating 1.2million words into 2 languages (Spanish and English) would amount to with WPML?
2) You mentioned that we can use the WordPress editor instead of the the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), which will then not support automatic transaltion: For existing articles which we already translated, I assume we could use the WordPress editor and other “new” articles we could run tha automatic tranlation feature using ATE? not really. Only clients who keep their WPML activate without any break will get the discount. Considers these scenario:
Case 1. You purchased WPML on October 30, 2023. You switched to manual renewals and you forgot to renew your subscription October 30, 2024. It expired, we sent you a reminder, you didn’t react and didn’t do anything. Then you remembered to renew your subscription on November 20, 2024. You won’t get the discount. You need to pay the full price again.
Case 2. You purchased WPML on October 30, 2023. You switched to manual renewals and you renew it on October 30, 2024 (or before). You will get the discount and you will pay 75% when renewing it.
If you keep the automatic renewals, you won’t forget to renew because it will renew automatically (provided you have funds on your card/PayPal). Hope it helps.

WPML allows you to translate your existing pages to other languages. When you translate with WPML, the settings and the markup of your page layouts don’t change so if your a specific page is WCAG compatible in your original language, it will be in the other languages too (WPML create a copy of it when translating it). The only thing WPML adds to your front-end is the language switcher. But there are many ways to create the language switcher and you can also create your own one in case you need to provide something extra for WCAG. We have inherited this site from a previous web agency that has the registration for the plugin. Now that we have upgraded our WordPress and PHO versions the plugin no longer works. This will allow you to access WPML updates and contact with our support team to discuss any of your WPML issues. Please note that you are using very old versions of WPML and upgrading them old to the most recent versions might not work. In such cases, we recommend a gradual upgrade. My idea would be to probably clone the live site over to a stage site prior to trying to upgrade on the live https://galleriafumagalli.com site that already has the working copy live on front end but is not working when the client goes through the regular process in the backend.

If you don’t renew your subscription or stop using WPML on your site, the translated content might not work anymore, and things might break.

if you sign up for Pay-as-you-go you will get invoices directly to the email address you have used when subscribing for Pay-as-you-go (which do you in WPML > Translation Management > Tools). You will see the credits usage in the same part of the interface: WPML > Translation Management > Tools. There is a section there to see your credit invoices too.
