  1. Got it, so I can translate the menu and footer made within the oceanwp theme in the Multilingual Blog plan, just one more question, can I translate for example 50 photos at once in bulk or do I have to do it one by one?

    • If your menu is available through the Appearance > Menu, yes you should be able to translate the menu. If your menu contains some custom links or custom labels (a custom label is the menu item different than the page title), you won’t be able to translate those because to translate those you need the WPML String Translation plugin that is not included in the Multilingual Blog package. I don’t know what your footer contains. If it contains menus, yes, you should be able to translate those. If your footer includes some free text message, you might not be able to translate it because for translating such text messages you need the WPML String Translation plugin.

  2. Hello.

My previous website manager installed and used WPML and I continued to use and update the pages, even though I do not have access to WPML account to ask for support.

I have a problem – for the page https://www.elisara.ro/preturi/ when translating I cannot complete the translation. I go though all the fields but when click on “Complete translation” button nothing happens. The counter shows 96% – it seems that some lines of the table in the page are not showing in the translating panel. How can I solve this? Looking forward for your support.

    Thank you.

    • Hello,
I am afraid you will need an active subscription in order to access our forum. Can you contact your previous website manager about this?

  3. Hi,

We would like to translate our website to Chinese and Japanese but we’re not yet sure if WPML is the best fit.
Our website is currently built on WordPress but is WPML also compatible with Gravity Forms, Elementor, Advanced Custom Fields?

Also, we’re not sure how many credits we should get and how it works.
Is there someone we can consult with prior the purchase in Asia?
    Thanks.

    • Hello Marie,
WPML supports both Chinese and Japanese. https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
Yes, WPML is compatible with Gravity Forms, Elementor and Advanced Custom Fields.
If you want to translate content created using the Advanced Custom Fields, you will also need to install the ACFML plugin (included in the Multilingual CMS package ) and set up the translation option for each of your ACF filed group as explained in this documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/#choosing-how-to-translate-field-groups If you want to use automatic translation you should select “Same fields across languages”.
      Credits to words:
      – DeepL – 2 credits per word
      – Google Translate – 2 credits per word
      – Microsoft – 1 credit per word
      – WPML AI – 4 credits per word
This page explains how credits work and the credit calculator will help you estimate how many credits you need
Here you can see how to calculate credits for Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
Feel free to ask me further questions you might have.

  4. Hello.
I am considering signing up for the “Multilingual Agency” plan.
It states that support and updates are for one year. Can I continue to use the plugin even if I don’t renew the contract after one year?
I am thinking of purchasing it on a case-by-case basis once the credits run out.

    • Hello,
DeepL is considered the best translation engine at the moment and here you can check the supported languages: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
WPML AI will be even better (it’s based on OpenAI technology, the same that ChatGPT uses) but it’s still in beta.

    • Hello,
yes, you can. Please log into your WPML account and on the left side of your screen click on the Modify link. Then you will see the “Upgrade your account” button.

    • The WPML AI engine is already available for our clients. You are welcome to test it out. There are some known issues with handling language formality for some languages such as German (formal versus informal language tone).

  5. Asking on behalf of a client, so not posting their URL for public view – but they have a website with over 150 pages. Its a lot of content. Is it possible with your plugin to only have translation applied to CERTAIN pages, to help keep the word count down? or is it all or none?

  6. Hi! One of our employees quitted his job at our firm and now we see that he missed to pay the renewal of our installation of WPML at otmab.se

Is it possible to do this now a couple of weeks after it expired? And if so – how do we know what version we used?

    • Hello,
I have checked your email address and I can see that you have the Multilingual Blog subscription. I expired on October 23, 2024. You can still renew it. Please log into your WPML account and renew it from there.

  7. Dear Support Team,

I am looking for a translation plugin for a Generatepress/Generateblocks website that uses Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). I have a specific use case that I’d like to verify whether your plugin can handle.

Our setup involves a Custom Post Type where several fields are populated via an API through ACF. One of these fields is a ‘description’ field. For translations, we have separate API fields containing the translated content. I would like to know if it’s possible to configure your plugin to use different ACF fields (populated via API) for different language versions.
To illustrate with a concrete example from our real estate website:

For the Dutch version, we use the field ‘object_omschrijving’ which gets its content from ‘object_omschrijving_nederlands’ in the API
For the English version, we need to display content from ‘object_omschrijving_engels’ in the same location

Is it possible to configure your plugin to handle this kind of setup, where different language versions pull content from different API fields through ACF?

Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.

    • Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. It’s not possible to configure WPML and ACFML plugins to handle this kind of setup, where different language versions pull content from different API fields through ACF. WPML when used with ACF provides some flexibility (better than our competitors and many ACF developers use it and adjust it to their specific needs (sometimes with their custom coding). If you want, you can purchase WPML and check it out keeping our refund policy in mind.

  8. We’re trying to purchase a WPML plugin however when I click on the place order it doesn’t give any option to choose the payment option and redirects to the Paypal after procedeeing further we get an error notice as “The merchant isn’t able to accept PayPal payments at this time. Please try again later or return to the merchant and choose another way to pay”.

And there is no other way to purchase the plugin. Please assist.

    • You can try to use a different browser or pay by card. To pay by card, please click on “Use a different payment method” below the Place Order button.

  9. It seems that I can not do that 🙁 First we bought MULTILINGUAL CMS and the discovered we only needed MULTILINGUAL BLOG I can see in my finacial papers. Then we got refunded for the CMS part and only payed for the BLOG variant. And now I get this message in my account :(:

Your WPML account has been refunded and is no longer valid

Remember to uninstall WPML from your sites. If you continue to use out-of-date plugins or themes, you risk breaking your sites with future WordPress updates.

    • Thank you. I have opened an internal ticket for our admins to check your case. We will keep you posted. I also notified my colleague Mercedes Barreda to reply to you if I’m not around.

  10. I would like to confirm a few things, such as:

    1. Is this payment per year?
    2. In the Multilingual CMS package, it states “90,000 translation credits.” Is this per month?

    • Hello,
      1. Yes, it’s per year.
      2. No, these are not per month. You will get 90 000 for the first year. Every time you renew WPML, we refill your translation credit balance up to a certain limit:
      – Multilingual CMS – up to 60,000 credits
      – Multilingual Agency – up to 120,000 credits
If you run out of credits you can also buy extra credits – this page explains your options

    • Image alts are translated along with the content they belong to. Say, you have 5 blog posts with 3 images each and the images have been added as using the Image block. You can translate all these blog post in one go and alternative texts of these images will be translated. How did you add these 50 photos in your case? Do you use a special plugin or theme for images? What’s the name?

  11. Hi there,
Is it possible to import-export a Drupal multilang website into WordPress with WPML and WP All Import?

We have 2500 records that need to be transferred from Drupal to WordPress.
I’ve been able to import-export data for 1 language, so I know that works fine.

But I don’t know how to do this with 3 languages at once.

    • Hello,
no, it’s not possible to import-export a Drupal multilang website into WordPress with WPML and WP All Import. What you can do instead is translate your content automatically using WPML.

  12. Hi,

I’m facing some problems translating the Woocommerce side cart plugin. Even if I translated manually all the strings localizing and transcribing the plugin, the side cart will always remain in its source language, italian.

I’ve already contacted the plugin support and they told me there’s no inconcistency plugin side, but cookies in WPML are missing and they suggested me to contact your support, can you please help me with that?

    • Hello,
that’s good you contacted our support team about this issue. I checked your email address and I cannot find you in our system (here at wpml.org). Maybe you used a different email address to purchase WPML? Anyways, please keep in touch with our support team. They are best to help you with technical issues.

  13. Hello, in my case I already have the photos on the site and I use a plugin that already puts the alt text when uploading to wordpress, the problem is that I intend to take the blog plan from the plugin and I think because I will manually translate the entire blog and I think there is no way I can search for these images by keyword in the gallery for example and change everything at once, is there any way?

    • The Blog package doesn’t allow you to translate automatically. You need to translate manually in that case. And each image separately.

  14. Hi,

Does this translate plugin also work with Divi?
Can I controle the translations, so If I want something not to be translated (like my emailadres) info@hipensfeervolwonen.nl (this stays this emailadressen in any language) can I exclude that from the translations?

Do I have to pay every year, or just once?

    Kind regards from the Netherlands,
    Bernardine de Laat

    • Hello Lili,
We accept credit/debit cards and PayPal payments but I am afraid we don’t accept wire transfers.
If you need a proforma invoice please send me the billing details to issue the invoice and the subscription you want to buy to hello@wpml.org and I will prepare it for you.

  15. I would like to set up a multi-domain website in different languages and am wondering if a WordPress multisite is necessary. As far as I can see, multisite requires a considerable amount of configuration. How can I use WPML to merge multiple domains on the same server in different languages? Regarding pricing, does such an installation count as 1 site or does each domain count as a separate website?

  16. Hi,

    Pre purchase question

I am using FromCraft plugin for accepting bookings on my website. Will it be possible to translate my booking form into different languages?

    • Hello Den,
Thanks for your email. We haven’t tested this plugin specifically but you can try it with WPML and see how it works. If you need help, our support team will be able to assist you from the forum.
You have up to 30 days to do this and if it doesn’t work for you, we will issue you a refund.
      https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/

  17. I asked this questions before but for some reason my inquiry was deleted. Before I buy I need to know if the booking forms on my website created with FormCraft plugin will be possible to automatically translate? Thank you.

    • Hello Sasha,
I’ve checked the email address you used when posting this comment and there is no WPML account registered with this email. I have checked your site URL and your site is registered with someone’s account – someone who has the Lifetime license purchased long time ago. I cannot share this person’s data of course. Only this person can get help from our support team. If you are no longer in touch with that person, you can buy WPML for yourself and re-register WPML with your own license key. You would need to buy the Multilingual CMS package. And then, you go to your WordPress site, Plugins > Add new > Commercial tab, you unregister the site and you click the link from that screen again to register the site with your WPML account. Then, please open a support ticket on our support forum to get technical help.

  18. Hello
I have a Woocommerce store and i have a very important question about automatic translations: do i have to add new product for every language or Just in my language and IT will be automaticlly translated ?

    • Hello Maciej,
both options are possible with WPML.
      Let me explain the possibilities:
      Option A – fully automatic
If you use the “Translate Everything Automatically” mode, all your posts, pages and products will be translated automatically and if you add a new product later on, it will be translated automatically without you having to click anything
      Option B – half-automatic in bulk
If you use “Let me choose what to translate” mode, you can translate selected products automatically in a bulk (massive) way but you need to select those products and click “Translate automatically”
      Option C – half-automatic – one by one
Your translate your products one by one automatically
      Option D – manually
Your translate your products one by one manually (without using automatic translations)
If you use any of the automatic methods, you can always make manual edits to your translations.
