Background of the issue:
I am using WPML to auto-translate my website from English to Italian. I want certain words to remain untranslated, so I added them to the glossary. The default language of my website is English, and I have used auto-translate to convert it to Italian.

Symptoms:
A word that I added to the glossary to remain untranslated is being translated anyway. Specifically, the word 'credential' is being translated to 'Credenziali' on the Italian version of my site.

Questions:
Why is the word 'credential' being translated despite being added to the glossary?
How can I ensure that specific words remain untranslated in WPML?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

I see that you've added that as a General term, which may change based on the context. While I recommend you add it as a Name or Proper Noun and check again.

Please see https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-to-create-and-manage-glossary-entries/#create-glossary-entries for details.

Please let me know if this fixes the issue. If not, then please also let me know the translation engine you're using (you can find it in WPML -> Settings).

Regards.

1 - I changed type from "general" to "name", as instructed, but still not working:
hidden link
- as you see, it is translated to "Credenziali"

2 - I believe I selected microsoft engine, as the most cost-effective, but now I see at the top there's DeepL - see att. (I changed it back now to Microsoft at the top.)

Does it mean that (was) the one being used? Does changing back to Microsoft get me back half of the credits used (as MS is 1 credit / word, and DeepL is 2 credits), as it's dinamic translations, or how does it work?

3 - Please confirm once again - in documentation it says it's dinamic transl. - so, if I change some texts in the original language, they will automatically (dinamic) be adjusted in the translated language too? I don't have to do anything manually for that?

Thank you and best regards.

Thank you for the updates.

1) For that glossary term being translated wrongly, I need to take a closer look at your site. So I request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP), preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your next answer will be private, to share this information safely.

Also provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue and links to pages in the admin and on the frontend.

IMPORTANT: Please take a complete backup of the site to avoid data loss. I may need to activate/deactivate plugins also.

See https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/ for details on privacy and security.

While for other questions please consider following:

2) Unfortunately changing translation engine once you've translated using the other (the one on top takes priority), does not refund or return the consumed credits.

3) Dynamic translation means, when you use automatic translation by setting translation mode to "Translate everything" and if there's a change in the content, WPML sends the content to update the translations. In this case, the new changes are translated. However, if your translation mode isn't set to translate everything automatically, these translations aren't updated automatically but you can send these for automatic translation via WPML -> Translation Management dashboard on-demand.

Please note that if you need more help regarding your queries (#2 and #3), feel free to report in separate tickets, because as per our forum policy we can handle only one issue per ticket.

P.S.: If you don't see the section for providing access information, do not write in the message box or the information may appear as public.
