Background of the issue:
I am trying to see the WPML plugin working on both the LIVE site and the DEVELOPMENT site. The LIVE site is hidden link and the DEVELOPMENT site is hidden link.

Symptoms:
The plugin works on the DEVELOPMENT site, showing flags at the top right and functioning on mobile, but after pushing changes, it does not show on the LIVE site.

Questions:
Why does the plugin not show on the LIVE site after pushing changes?
Is there a difference in configuration between the LIVE and DEVELOPMENT sites that could cause this issue?

It seems there is an update released in November BUT I do not see it in the WordPress admin. However, the issue we are facing WORKS on the dev site but not on the LIVE site: same exact site, one works and the other one does not.

While one of my teammates takes care of your ticket, I will provide you with the first debugging steps.

Please update your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.6.14, to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem; however, we need to work on the newest code available to troubleshoot the issue best.

You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.

Please remember to backup your database before you proceed.

Let us know if the issue persists after an update has been done.

I could update the DEV site with your instructions. I cannot update the LIVE site, however: the updates don't come up when I click on checking updates. :/

Perhaps your WPML on the live site is no longer valid for some reason, what if you try this?

I updated everything following your instructions. Flags to change language are still not showing on the LIVE site. hidden link.

Please let me know if the problem with the flags not showing on the LIVE site but working on the DEV site is an issue of URL configuration.

Would you be willing to provide me with WordPress credentials so I could investigate the issue directly?

For some reason your answer got removed, possibly because you added login here in public.

Can you share them again? But use the private reply now, the one I set for you.

I thought I had used the private relay. Anyhow... there it is again.

I get 403 Forbidden on hidden link or even hidden link.

Is the URL restricted geographically, or?

I have updated the server settings: you should be able to log in now.

Within the dashboard, I see this:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/using-advanced-translation-editor-when-you-move-or-use-a-copy-of-your-site/

Can you follow this guide and set this based on your site setup?

Another thing, this page shows language switcher, correct?
hidden link

The translation for this one seems to be published, others have eye icon meaning these are still pending review:

1. Regarding the first link you sent, I am unsure what the right choice would be:

Yes/This is only a copy - original site is still running
No/I changed the address of the site to this new one

None of these really fit our scenario: we have a DEV site we work on and then a LIVE site which is the site people see online. It is not a copy, it is not the original site, and we did not change the URL unless that means that we pushed from DEV to LIVE.

So... choose NO?

I am only focusing on the LIVE site as that is what you are focusing on.

2. We are working on the DEV site and then we push changes to the LIVE site: we never work on the live site. Credits are tied to the LIVE site but we work on the DEV site: does this mean we need those credits on the DEV site? Can we set the translations to be automatically published? We don't review each translation.

Yes, "no" would be a better choice in that case. I guess you are pushing these changes by deploying the staging site to production?

You can also share credits like this:
