Tell us what you are trying to do?

I finished the translation of the croatian homepage and the english home page but pencil sign is not visible. instead I have arrows sign that says that croatian home page needs update of a english translation which I dont. Also, when I update english version it messes up the finished english translation.

Is there any documentation that you are following? no

Is there a similar example that we can see? no

What is the link to your site? - hidden link

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Can you please explain that if you are translating the page manually? For example, by editing translation yourself in WP Editor, Classic Editor or Advanced Translation Editor.

As per my understanding, the ideal workflow is to create/change content in the main (primary) language, then add/edit translation using Classic or Advanced Translation Editor (if doing it manually, otherwise send to automatic translation). Because if you edit translated version in WP editor manually then it might affect the original/primary language content as well (i.e. triggering a need to update status).

See following guides for an understanding:

- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/
- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/translation-editor-options/
- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/
- https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/

Besides this, I see that the "WP Memory Limit" is set to 40M. WPML requires a memory limit of at least 128MB while 256MB is recommended. See https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/ for detailed information. You can set WP Memory Limit in your wp-config.php file by adding following code:

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

Please remember to add these lines before the line where it says:
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */

See https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php for details. Increasing WP Memory may help improve the performance.

Please let me know if this helps resolve the issue. Or I'll try my best to further assist you on the matter.

Regards.

Hey,

I just need a simple answer. You went to deep.

The Translation of my homepage is finished in a both languages but still I do not have a pencil sign and I do not want to update english version cause it is translated well and finished.

What do I need to do to remove arrows sign and to have a pencil for a homepage? It seems its a bug cause all other pages have pencil sign?

Please check and try to get pencil sign for the homepage but be careful not to do any change to a english translation.

Thanks

Hi,

Can you confirm that:

- if you have enough credits, only if you are using automatic translation? You can check this from WPML -> Translation Management dashboard.

- have increased WP Memory Limit as mentioned in my previous message?

Also, have you tried cancelling any existing job for this page? Please see followings for details:

After cancelling, please send the page again for translation, see https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#translating-pages-posts-and-custom-post-types for details.

If none of the above helps, provide admin access to your website to check the issue in detail. You can create a separate admin user for this purpose, which can be deleted afterwards.

Also please provide following detail to investigate/observe the issue:

- detailed steps to reproduce the issue
- links to pages in admin and on frontend
- screenshots or screen recording if needed to explain
- any other relevant information to observe/investigate the issue

Please remember to take full backup of your website and database before proceeding. However, a staging/test site is highly recommended, because I may need to try some changes/fixes on the site, which may cause conflicts with the live site otherwise. Please confirm it in your next reply or let me know if you do not agree with the mentioned.

I've set your next reply as private to share this information safely.

IMPORTANT: If you don't see the section for providing access information, please do not write in the message box or the information may appear as public.

Please see https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/ for details on privacy and security.

Before continuing on the site, I'll also need your confirmation and approval on each of the followings:

1) Is this a Live/Production or Staging/Dev site?
2) Is it OK to work on this site?
3) Is it OK to try some changes/fixes on the site and/or activate/deactivate/install a plugin on the site, which may cause conflicts with the other parts of the site?
4) Have you taken full backup of your website and database?

Please confirm, thanks.
