Tell us what you are trying to do?

Allow the Spanish-translated page to be completely different from the English page in form and content

At the moment, i cannot save a particular Spanish page as a different format from the English

Hello,

you can use the manual translation method and disable the WPML editor. That way pages are not in sync and you can have different format / design.

Please check next documentation:

Regards,
Drazen

Hello,

Exactly, you will find the option to turn off the WPML Translation Editor only on the original content.

When switching the editor "OFF" a dialog will pop up that allows you to determine if you wish to deactivate the WPML Translation Editor for this content only, all contents of the same type, or all site contents.

If you only need this page to be translated manually, please only choose the first option.

After that, you can edit all translations of this content manually.

Take note, if the content has translation in various languages, then you will need from there on translate all those translations manually.

Also, take note, if later on, you enable the WPML Translation Editor again for this content, then the manual translation will get overwritten and lost - which is expected, as both translation methods are not compatible.

Let me know if you do have further questions.

Best regards
Andreas

If I see this on the page, can I assume it is ONLY for the page or would I be affecting things globally if I changed it?

Hello,

This is a global setting for the post type, which means if you change this, it will affect all pages, posts, products, etc. accordingly.

You can find this setting also at WPML > Settings > Post Type Translation.

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-posts/

Best regards
Andreas
