Hi Tomas,
we don’t provide any free trials but there is a way to test WPML with your themes and plugin without any risk. Feel free to buy it and you can test it for 30 days. If it turns out that WPML doesn’t satisfy your needs, just use this link: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
and we will refund your order.
During this 30 day trila period you can ask questions in our support forum as well.
1) Can the language switcher drop-down box be placed in the header?
2) If yes – where in the header on default is it being placed?
3) If yes – can it be placed as one of the child items of the main header menu?
4) If yes – can it be placed in the header socket (without manual coding)?
1) yes, but you will need to add a simple code snippet to your header.php file
2) using WPML settings (and no coding) you can insert the language switcher to your menu, your footer or as a widget
3) I’m not sure what you mean by child items
4) to place your switcher in your header manual coding is required. You can also customize it: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/custom-language-switcher/

I’m considering to buy WMPL but my site is on the shered hosting and my hosting provider won’t upgrade to mysql 5.6 in the near future. If I Buy WPML can U provide me with an older wersion of WPML which supports MySql 5.5 and will that version support string translation? I am running the Traveler theme from Shinetheme.
and you will know more about the errors/issues (if any).
The earlier versions of WPML are available to download in your WPML account but we don’t recommend using them because it would cause even more troubles – old bugs, security issues etc and in case of any errors our supporters won’t be able to help you either.
I am looking at translation options for a WP website we are about to begin work on.
We have previously used a different system and I am less than satisfied as it does not do not have the option to publish or unpublished certain pages in different languages.
What we would like to do is have the main site created in English, German and French, so all done and launched at the same time.
But then when we add news stories we will publish in English to begin with and follow with translations afterwards. So we would want to publish news stories in English and then a week or so later (once we have translations) publish the same story in the other languages.
Is that possible with your system?
Also, what are your thoughts on replacing an existing system with yours? Would it be easy or complex? I can give you the url if you email me as I would prefer not to publish here.
Hi Jude,
yes, you will be able to achieve what you need using WPML. You can leave some pages without translations, temporary or for good. You can translate them later, anytime.
I don’t know which specific system you have been using so far. We have a Polylang->WPML converter plugin for example, for other cases some custom work will be required. You can request custom help from one of our contractors:
I think this is doable.
When your translate your posts and pages using WPML a “copy” of this post/page is created but in the other language, in other words, the translation of your WP post/page is a new post/page. These posts/pages won’t be available for your users (and search engines such as Google) until you link to them. So one option is not to enable/add the language switcher to your website until your translations are ready. Your translated posts/pages will be hidden from users.
You could get started with translating the most significant pages of your site, once ready, add the language switcher and then adding new translation gradually.
Another option would be to create a copy of your website (for example using the Duplicator plugin) and develop the site locally and once everything is ready, replace the live copy.
I would like to use WPML on a single client’s web site, but am a little unclear with regard to updates. If we buy anything but the Lifetime CMS license, does this mean that the installation on my client’s site will no longer receive basic maintenance updates if I (or they) choose to discontinue the subscription in the future?
Hi Ian,
you are right. Only the Lifetime licence allows you to receive updates for unlimited time. So if your WPML subscription expires, the site won’t stop working since WPML is still installed on it (like any other WordPress plugin) but we cannot predict how it behaves with future WP releases.
The good news is that you can upgrade from the CMS package to Lifetime later and pay the difference in cost only.
I’ve tried googling this, but I cant find the answer to my question:
If I purchase WPML lifetime, can I register client sites or do they have to buy their own subscription?
In case the answer is that I can register their sites as long as I manage it: Can I charge them a one time fee for setting it up and keeping it updated?
Hi Vale,
yes, you register your client sites (in your WPML account you generate a key which you then paste into their WordPress sites).
Your clients don’t need to buy their own WPML subscriptions. Only you. And you need to buy only one WPML subscription and you can use it for all your sites.
Yes, you can charge your customers for your services.
Hi,
I’m interested in yours plugin but I have some concerns about it and I need some help.
Currently I’m using qTranslate-X on my page and I wonder can I somehow import translations because i have couple thousands posts and I don’t whant to insert all translations again. I see that you have some importer but it’s not supported anymore.
You are right: we no longer develop on this plugin.
Here is the recommended set up (or you may encounter issues):
** IMPORTANT ** Please backup a working copy of site files and database before continuing.
– Disable qTranslate.
– Make sure the WPML activation, installation and configuration is complete.
– WPML recent releases include a lot of changes in our code. qTranslate Importer 1.5 had been stopped development before WPML 3.2.2 was released. So we recommend using WPML 3.1.9.7 with qTranslate Importer.
Hi Gustavo,
if you want to have each language on a separate site, where each site is going to a separate subsite managed under WP Multisite please consider using this plugin instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/multilingual-press/
If you want to use WPML on a single WP install, your urls will be like this:
domain.com/blog (main language, suppose English US )
domain.com/blog/en_GB
domain.com/blog/pt
The organization I work for would like to purchase the WPML plugin, but we need a W9 from you before moving forward. Can you please point me in the right direction?
Hi Jony,
the only way to test WPML without any risk is to buy it and in case you are not completely satisfied, please use our refund policy. It allows you to test you WPML for 30 days, including asking questions in our support forum, if needed.
Hi Robert,
WPML doesn’t translate automatically. It allows you to add translations of all your site’s elements in your WordPress admin and then to display on the front-end. All translations are stored in your WordPress. The translated posts and pages won’t differ from your regular posts/pages.
I’m sorry if this question was asked but I couldn’t find it through the Support Articles, Pre-Sales questions, or your site so I apologize if I missed it.
We have been using the plugin for over a year and are very happy with it.
We are looking to use String Translation for the entire website, and not just the WordPress Admin section or theme settings.
For example, if we have a “Pricing” page on our site, we would like to use String Translation so we won’t need to create duplicate versions of the page for every language.

it depends on how this specific page has been built. If all the page content comes directly from the page body, you need to translate everything. But if your page displays different elements coming from different places, yes using string translation will help.
Thank you for clarifying, yes, that is exactly what we are looking for. Do you have an estimated date of when the latest version of WPML 3.6 is coming out?
I want to make a blog and am playing around with a blog wordpress theme called simple catch will this work with this? does it translate to Canadian French?
Hi Martin,
on the theme’s website, I found the information that this theme is WPML ready. However, this theme wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team so I’m sure if you will be able to translate every single element of this site. WPML works without any problems with elements such as posts, pages, categories, tags etc. Compatibility issues appear if the theme uses some custom options and elements. If you want you can buy WPML and test it yourself since our refunds policy allows you to test it for 30 days without any risk https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
Hi Martin, you mean the cost for translation? Every translation service has its own pricing. Usually, it depends on the number of words. You need to check with the service you choose. For example, check the prices of the ICanLocalize service in this site https://www.icanlocalize.com/site/ – there is a live chat.
Hello, I have pre-purchase questions. I am interested in your plugin. I plan to use for a number of CMS wordpress websites. Please advise me how this plugin can help.

WPML will still work. If you don’t renew your subscription you just lose access to our support help and future releases. Of course, we cannot predict what happens if you update your WP to a new release and won’t update WPML.
You will be able to upgrade to the Lifetime version after the first year and you will pay the difference only. Of course, renewing/upgrading is optional.
We have WPML CMS 2.6.4.1 installed and would like to update. The initial build was done by someone else and now we don’t have access to purchase information. How do we go about updating to the current build? Can we upgrade at the 35 dollar as it is currently installed?
Thanking you in advance,
David Bray
Hi David,
the WPML subscription owner which means is the person who purchased it. Only the subscription owner can upgrade the WPML subscription.
In your case you have the following options available:
1. Ask the subscription owner to upgrade it, register WPML on his/her site so you can upgrade it from the WP admin.
2. Buy a new subscription on your behalf. This way you will be able to use it for all your sites (for different customers and you will have access to our support forum).
Thank you for that. As the fallout with the original creator prohibits us getting any information from their company my only option would be to purchase a new one. I just need to know, as this is version 2.6.4.1, how do I go about downloading the correct files for a manual install? I understand I can’t do a normal update as the version is too old.
Is it possible a combination of WPML and automatic translation for the input fields in Buddypress? Your developer say that only Buddypress GUI can be translated and not the inputs. Could the inputs been translated automaticly and if yes how could I do that? Is there any other plugin that could work well with WPML so I can achieve full translation of Buddypress Profiles( labels & inputs)? I need the information that users provide in their profiles to be visible in 2 languages.
There is no mechanism to let users translate their profile data
or sending those to translation management.
For example – Facebook GUI can be switched to other languages.
but you do not have your FB profile field values translated in every possible language.
Same thing in BuddyPress case.”

Hi Sasha,
there is a chance that WPML will run on earlier versions of MySQL. If that’s the case, please enable WPML debug mode.

You generate a separate key for each of your websites. Please check this page for details:

Hello all! I’m unclear about one thing. Does the plugin create new pages for each language, or does it translate the existing pages on the same URL?
Hi Matthew – it creates new pages/posts, so the slug of the translated post will reflect the post title in the relevant language.
Hello!
I need to know if this plugin is really what I need.
I have a static HTML site with WP Core installed at /blog/ directory.
My site is going to be multi-language (using hreflang to deal with it) and all site versions will be like: domain.com/br/, domain.com/us/, and go on.
I need to turn mu WP into multisite, using only one core instalation, but each language should be in it respective directory.
English Language Blog: domain.com/us/blog
Portugues Language Blog: domain.com/br/blog
and so on…
Is it possible? Do you plugin solve my needs?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Fletcher,
please have a look at this page:
https://wpml.org/faq/getting-your-tax-invoice-after-buying-wpml/
you will see what information we provide on the WPML invoice.
Is this what you need?
Unfortunately, no. Before we can make a purchase we will need to have a W-9 from your company. Is there anyway you can send me one?
You will get an email in a while with the W-9.
Hello there,
We are very interested in this plugin, as the list of features are very close to what we need.
Do you have a demo WP for us to have a test drive?

Another option is to use our Layouts plugin. It allows you to design a page layout once. You can read more about it here:
https://wpml.org/2016/08/build-multilingual-real-estate-sites-toolset-wpml/
https://wpml.org/2016/09/translation-support-for-page-builders-coming-to-wpml-3-6/
Thank you for clarifying, yes, that is exactly what we are looking for. Do you have an estimated date of when the latest version of WPML 3.6 is coming out?
Our developers say it will be in about two-month time since this is still under development.

Hi,
Is this plugin WooCommerce compatible?
Thanks
/Steph
Yes, it is.
You can create multilingual stores using WPML. You will find more details here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
Dear Sirs,
Is WooCommerce Multilingual plugin included in the wpml product? Or do I have to buy it seperately?
Thank you and Regards
Elias
Dear Elias,
the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin is available for free from the WP repository:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-multilingual/
but it requires at least the “Multilingual CMS ($79)” subscription to work. Please see the details here
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
Hello, I have pre-purchase questions. I am interested in your plugin. I plan to use for a number of CMS wordpress websites. Please advise me how this plugin can help.

My questions are:
1. Does it support Bahasa Indonesia?
2. Which languange I should use first before I translate? Should I translate from Bahasa Indonesia to English or the other way…

Hello,
1. Here’s the list of all languages that come pre-configured with WPML:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/
If your language is not on that list, you can add it manually:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
So in your case (Bahasa Indonesia) you will need to do this step.
2. Both options are possible, you can also change the order later. Usually, the site’s main language it the one that gets more traffic.
Will the plugin stop working after one year, which would then require renewing our account?
Hi,
WPML will still work.
Hello WMPL,

Hi David,
the WPML subscription owner which means is the person who purchased it. Only the subscription owner can upgrade the WPML subscription.
