  1. I have a few newbie questions before I purchase the licence, please:

The original content of the website I am developing is in English but when the service is launched, it will be translated to Spanish AND I will need to switch the default to Spanish.

    1) I have read about changing the default language, however I am not sure about the language identifier. I understand when I have translated the site, the /es identifier will be added to the URLs of the translated pages. What will happen when I switch the default to Spanish? I assume /en will be added on the English pages, but will /es remain on the Spanish ones?

    2) After I have switched the defaults, I will continue to write my content in English. What are the best practises in terms of managing the translations in this scenario? Should I translate the content into Spanish “off line” and then let WPML translate it back to English? Or is there a way to translate into Spanish while Spanish is the default language?

    3) I am assuming that irrespective of the default website language, I can keep my admin backend in English – is this correct?

    Thanks

    • Hello there,

Please, keep in mind that is not recommended to change your default language once you have finished your site’s translation.

Let me try to answer your questions ir order:
      1. No, that wouldn’t be necessary the case, once you change the language, the /es/ should disappear. However, WPML has a setting which allows you to keep it.
      2. There is not a special method for this, you can start translating your site from English to Spanish. You can decide to make this content public or wait until all your site has been translated.
      3. Yes, you can keep your backend in the language you desire from your user profile.
      Regards

  2. Przepraszam za nieczytelną treść poprzedniej wiadomości.

Wydaje się, że mamy aktualna subskrypcję.
Potrzebujemy pomocy, sprawdzenia, dlaczego nie możemy załadować Elementora i edytować strony z jego użyciem.
Nie mamy obecnie administratora strony, który zna się na Word Press, WPML, i innych aplikacjach wiec musimy próbować poradzić sobie sami – z Waszą pomocą.

  3. Thanks for the reply. Can you just clarify a couple of things for me please?

You say: “Please, keep in mind that is not recommended to change your default language once you have finished your site’s translation”
Can you explain please? Why is that? What complications will it create? But then, I may be using incorrect terminology, all need is that the website opens in Spanish when the user first accesses the site and the site stays on the Spanish version unless the user switches the language to English on the front end.

You say: “2. There is not a special method for this, you can start translating your site from English to Spanish. You can decide to make this content public or wait until all your site has been translated.”
I understand this, my question was about the best practise AFTER the site has been launched, i.e. when I add content (new pages or changed content on the previously translated pages).

    Many thanks

    • Sure, let me try to explain me better:

      1. We don’t recommend to modify your default language after you have translated your site as some of your translations may be broken and you may need to restablish them. In that case I would recomend you to install WPML with English as default language and change it inmediatly to Spanish. From that moment you can start translating your site from English to Spanish and avoid those issues.

      2. You can always start translating your site and save your translations without publish them. Once you mark them as 100% transalted and publish, they will be available for your public. With this, you can decide exactly in which moment you will make your translations avaialble..

      Regards

    • Hello Klemen,
Unfortunately, we don’t have demo sites. However, you can buy our WPML and test it for 30 days. Then, if you think it is not the right tool for your proyect, you can ask a refund during this period.
      Regards

  4. Hello

Do you have a license for 1 website? Please let me know because I would like to buy WPML CMS but it has 3 sites. If I need only for 1 website will the cost go down for the plugin?

    Thank you

    • Hello Hassan,
Unfortunately we only have these 3 kind of subscriptions. However, you could use those other two licenses for future projects.
      Regards

  5. Hi, I urgently need some help please

I am managing a website for my client. They paid a license for the domain jaibor.com. I have duplicated the website in a test environment under the same domain (pointing to a different host – changing my hosts file to see it) and I see the “registered” WPML plugins but the Woocommerce > Woocommerce Multilingual has an error: “WPML is not set up” also, “WPML Translation Management is either not installed or not active” however for the latter, if I try to activate this plugin a message shows up saying “This plugin has been deactivated as it is now part of the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin”. Please see 2 screenshots here of the working production website and not working test website. I am planning to use the test website when everything is working well, is there a way to migrate the paid license?

    Best regards,
    Jacobo

    • Hello Hassan,
Yes you should be able to select Use alternative payment method at checkout, to pay with your debit/credit card directly.
      Let me know?

      Best,

  6. There is a problem with the price entered in the product data.

Our shopping mall is based on KRW currency, and JPY/EUR/USD prices are designated by us.
The price entered at the USD price is exposed to KRW products, and payment is also possible at USD price.
( Please refer to the image of the link. ▶ id.dollsoom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/price-error.jpg )

These errors happen once in a while. Is there a way to determine the cause of the error?
Our plug-in was installed by the shopping mall developer, so I’m inquiring here.

    • Hello Kim,
Could you please open a ticket in our support forum? We would need to check and investigate your setup and,
as this is just a pre-sales page, we don’t have the right tools to help your.

  7. Can wpml offer any functionality so that i can translate data from code ? I want to develop a plugin which can translate English data to Spanish or French, as save data in wordpress database

So is it possible to translate data using wpml functions ?

  8. Hi, I have a problem with my invoice – wrong company-. Who shall I contact in order to regularize it ?

  9. Hello,

I am currently using Translatepress to translate my woocommerce store in different languages. The big problem is that, when the original content (English) changes, the translations disappear and we need to translate them again. I would like to avoid that by keeping the old translation even if the original content changes, until our translators update the translations.

    Is that possible with WPML?

    Thank you!

    • Hello Moussaab,
With WPML you have 2 possible options:
      – You can use an option called “Minor updates”. In this case, the translation will ignore the changes done on the original page.
      – Instead you can decide not to use that option and update the translation as well. For this, the front-end will display always the original translation until you mark your page as 100% translated. However, in the backend, WPML will keep translations that were not modified and you will need to translate the new content.
      I hope it helps.

  10. Hi WPML teams,

Would really appreciate your help if you could let me know, if the plugin is compatible with Oxygen builder template or not.
Essentially, I made a template on oxygen builder and wanted to be able to change the slug to another language. For example, if I use the template for blog post, instead of just demo.com/csr-updates/sample-csr-2/ as what would a normal template would create. I want the plugin language to be able to change the language back and forth from demo.com/en/csr-updates/sample-csr-2/ to demo.com/fr/csr-updates/sample-csr-2/ for example.

I’m sure the normal page would work perfectly fine but I’m not sure if the plugin supports the template as well, so if you could help clarifying this, that’d be really helpful.

    Thanks.

  11. Hi. I’m currently an user of Oxygen Builder + TranslatePresss.

I had to go that way since when I started with Oxygen Builder WPML failed to work as expected (if my memory doesn’t fail, WPML didn’t really support Oxygen back then).

Two years after I see you are supporting Oxygen (at least there is a blog post on that). Is there any way to try if it works well now? Do you have a time limited demo version or something like that?

    Thanks

    • Hello Leo,
We don’t have demo versions, however you can buy a subscription and use our 30 days refund policy. In that way you can use and check if the combination Oxygen/WPML fits you better.
      Regards

  13. Hi,
A very basic question before purchasing. Can I use WPML to translate my Swedish site in the Swedish language to english. What I wish to know is if Swedish can be used as the original language for all translations? Or does the original language allways have to be English?

  14. hi
this plugin is very useful I have a doubt about renewal If the subscription is not renewed after 1 year this plugin working or not? or only support and update are stoped?

    • Hello Ashique,
Yes, if you don’t renew your license, you won’t longer have access to support and updates. However you still will be able to use our WPML.
      Regards

  15. hello, i have a website. I am using classima theme and post listing plugin. this theme and plugin made a plugin on your plugin and could translate. I will buy both your plugin and that plugin. but i want automatic translation feature and i will translate for two languages. 16. Hi there, Im currently using Elementor as a page builder, would like to know if WPML is compatible with Elementor?

and could WPML achieve manual translation? my page default language will be English and i would like to add another 2 more language.

  17. We use the WPML plug-in to realize the multilingual function of the website. Because our products are sold in different countries, we set the cost and price of each country to be different. When GMC advertises, it appears every 2-3 days The price fetched by GMC ads is wrong. The reason for the error is that we set the UK price and currency in the GMC ads, but the GMC ads fetched the price and currency of the Canadian page, or sometimes the Canadian price and currency were fetched German prices and currency. This problem often occurs, making our GMC advertisements intermittent. How can this problem be solved?

  19. Hi, I’m about to purchase your plugin for my blog, it is English and Italian, but when I started it years ago I simply set the second language as a category, so I currently have no multilingual plugins.
The website will go through a makeover soon, English will be the default language and I’d need to know if with your plugin I will be able to assign the existing Italian posts to the new Italian page, or if I will need to copy/paste all the posts (I manually translate all posts).
If assigning old content to the new page is possible, I’d be most grateful if you had a tutorial or any directions to share.

    Thank you!

    • Hello Sonia,
you will need to copy/paste the content for the secondary language, which is Italian in your case. We don’t have a tutorial about this case but to give you a hint, when setting up WPML please choose “Translate some” instead of “Translate everything”

  20. Hi there,
I would like to make a website in 3 languages. Each language version of the website would be under a different domain, but I would like the management of websites in different languages to be from one management panel. I have the following questions:
    1) Should I put up 3 independent WordPress instances for each of the domains? Will WPML be able to manage these 3 installations from one panel? I don’t want to use the Multisite WordPress functionality.
    2) Will Multilingual CMS be suitable for the implementation of such a website 3 languages in 3 domains (built on the basis of Elementor and WooCommerce)?
    3) Can I make a test version of the website for 3 test domains placed on the test hosting, then transfer the finished website to another hosting and change the 3 test domains to the target domains under the WPML license, which I bought when creating the test page?
