Hello,
we no longer provide the Lifetime option for new users but those who had their Lifetime account can still use it without any changes. I checked your user (with the email address you used to post this comment with) and the is no account registred with this email. If you don’t remember your user name you can share of the websites you registered with your Lifetime account and I will find you in our system.
Hi, I’m looking to setup WPML on a multisite (where EN version is on .com domain, FR version is on .fr domain, ES version on .es domain). Overall we have 1 EN site + 4 main locales that we translate to. Can you share which would be the best plan would be able to support this setup?
Normally, setting a site with different domains is considered one site/license in terms of the WPML registration key so the CMS package will suffice but I think what you are looking for is not WPML. You mentioned “multisite” which I believe you mean WordPress Multisite. If that’s the case: if you need to set up each language on a separate domain coming from the WordPress Multisite setup this plugin will be a better fit for you: https://multilingualpress.org/
Hey guys, thank you first of all for responding to my very first quesiton on how to pay with creditcard, however now that I bought the plugin, I really thought it was gonna be simpe since I already have the translations ready to copy/paste, and I’ve written to support all day yesterday and nobody has helped me since. Can you please me also fast to respond to support and not only payment questions? My ticket is #13613611 Thank you!
Hello, we are building a news website that would operate in multiple languages, and looking for the best solution for our needs. The website would be built with WordPress as a backend, and have SSR Next.js as a front end i.e. headless. We are plan to use REST API as a way to tie backend and frontend together. The client would make a request, the backend takes a language code and fetches posts only in the required language then returns the content to the client. Also in the same way we should be able to fetch translated menus and taxonomies. Translations of the QI of the frontend would be managed by Next.js by static JSON files. Would WPML plugin be suitable for this design?
Hello,
what you are requesting requires custom coding and it won’t work out of the box. WPML is using the GPL license and you can do custom changes in WPML code. This documentation can help: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/rest-api-dependencies/
Hello ioanna,
The CMS version allows you to use WPML on up to 3 production sites and 9 development sites. This means that for every 3 live sites your register, you get 3 extra keys for the development/staging sites.
The Blog version only allows you to register WPML on one site.
I want to translate an English “.com” website using a subfolder (domain.com/fr/) and create a custom post type only in that non-English language first – with a unique URL slug (specific only for that language).
I was wondering if that would be possible? And whether I would still have the option to translate both the custom post types and URL slugs into the default site language (English)? Or I would need to create custom post types in English first and then translate everything into that other language?
I would appreciate a more detailed answer to the question to fully understand how WPML would suit my use case. Thanks in advance!
Hello,
yes, what you describe is possible to achieve in WPML. WPML allows you to create pages and posts (including post based on your custom post types) in the secondary language even if its original equivalent doesn’t exist. How to do so. First of all, when setting up WPML and following the setup wizard select “Translate what you choose” mode (instead of “Translate everything automatically”. This will prevent your site from being automatically translated immediately. Then, go to your pages in your WordPress admin and use the internal language switcher (WPML will add to the admin bar) to switch to French. Then you will be able to add new pages in French first. You can leave them untranslated or you can translate them to English later. At the same time you can of course translate some other pages from English to French. You might also want to switch off WPML’s translation editor. If you have this need, this page will help you explain how to do so.
Now, about handling custom post types.
By default, all custom post types are marked as non-translatable in WPML settings. You need to enable them for translation by following this documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-posts/ Then you can translate them the same way as regular posts and pages.
Yes, you can always change the post/page slug. When yo translate a post/page WPML creates anothe post/page that doesn’t differ from other post and pages in WordPress terms. So the same rules apply here: you can for example change the post slug by hovering the post title and clicking the “Quick edit” option on the list of your pages/posts in your WordPress admin.
Yes, we consider 1 multisite network as 1 website in terms of licence keys. You need to register it only once and you can use WPML on all of the subsites.
2- if this the cms version https://snipboard.io/DCWdjF.jpg
I already use it in philsgranola.gr
Can I use it in beta.joannaritsoni.com as well?
should i upload the same plugin to the second site?
will something break in the first site if i upload it to a second site?
3- if i buy the blog version for beta.joannaritsoni.com will i still be able to translate the pages for beta.joannaritsoni.com?
will the only difference be that it will be for one site?
1. If you don’t cancel your WPML subscprion, you will pay 75% of this price for the next year. If you don’t want to pay again, you can cancel your WPML subscription and still use WPML but without updates.
2. Yes, you can upload your plugin to your second site. It won’t affect your first site. If you have the CMS Multilingual package you can use WPML on 3 production site and in addiiona on 9 testing sites.
3. Yes, the Blog package allows you to register only 1 production site and two additional testing sites.
For a clients website, with around 30 pages and the need for translation in 30 languages, are 90000 translation credits enough? Or does he need the 180000 option?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML. 30 lanaguges is a lot. I don’t know how big your pages are but provided an average page has about 1000 words you will need 2000 credits per page (1 word = 2 credits). 2000 x 30 = 60 000 credits to translate to one language. Now, you need to multiply this number by the number of language you want to translate to. If you want to translate these 30 pages to 2 lanaguges you would need 120 000 credits, which is more than then 90 000 we provide for free. If you run out of credits you have two options: you can subscprion to the Pay-as-you-go or buy additional credits in advance. Pay-as-you-go is cheaper and you can use an interactive calculator we provide to estimate the number of credits to use and how much it will cost: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#how-automatic-translation-works-lnk
When I put 30000 words (1000 x 30) into this calculator and select 30 languages I’m getting $587.00 USD (1 800 000 credits).
I hope this helps.

Hello ioanna,
When you buy a subscription fom us an account is created. This account has the subscription and its features. The CMS subscription allows you to register up to 3 productions ites. You can register them within the same account.
If you want to have separate accounts, you will need to buy separate subscriptions.
1- as the second site is for a different client can i create and register the key for the second site in different account from the first site or do they have to be in the same account?
2- i will install the plugin to beta.joannaritsoni.com which is the development site / it will then be transferred to the final url will be betasecurities.com
should i create a key for a development or production site?
since i will create the translated pages to beta.joannaritsoni.com will the translations be lost when i transfer to betasecurities.com?

We would be interested in Lifetime membership so we can buy the words in Bulk, we dont think we can afford to pay yearly for 15 million words.
Do let us know please your perspective and how to take it forward.
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
> we dont think we can afford to pay yearly for 15 million words.
You say “yearly” so let me summarize how WPML automatic translations work.
As soon as you translate a specific page once, you don’t need to use (or pay for) the translation credits again, unless the original page is updated. If that’s the case, you will need to use translation credits only for the sentences that have changed.
You pay yearly only for the WPML subscription (which is also optional) and you get a 25% discount for the next years if you continuously use WPML.
If you decide to buy WPML, I recommend you add only one foreign language to your site when setting up WPML and translate your site only to this language to see how it goes. In case of issues you can contact our support team and then, only after everything is fine, you can add more languages.
I am using translatepress on one of my website. I got 404, redirection issues with the plugin especially in the non latin alphabets. I couldn’t find a solution for that so I am thinking about moving to another plugin. Is there any way to move to wpml without causing any problem? I have around 130 posts and 9 languages.
Hello Omer,
thank you for your interest in WPML. Unfortunately, we don’t have any “TranslatePress to WPML” plugin. You will need to deactivate TranslatePress if you decide to switch to WPML. There are some workarounds to keep your existing translation but all require manual work to be done and have some drawbacks and I don’t this they make sense for 130 posts. So the best option would be to translate your posts again using WPML. Please note that WPML works differently than TranslatePress. Could you please provide me with your website so I can take a look at the front end to see what you need to translate? I will send you a private email in case you don’t want to share this site publically.

Hello Tamara,
We don’t offer any discounts for bulk translation. Are you going to translate your site automatically?
If so, the more content you translate, the cheaper it gets per word.
Check our calculator here to get an estimate of your costs.
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#how-automatic-translation-works-lnk
Also note that if there are repetitions, you will not get charged for them, since we use a Translation Memory.
We don’t charge per visit, but per translated word. Once the content is translated, it remains on your site at no further costs.
Kind regards,
I wanted to purchase the Plugin but my Payment card email address is different from my user account.
Hello,
Thanks for your email. You can use one email address in your Contact details and a different one in the Billing details, this is not a problem.
