  1. Hello,

Is your plugin works well with Magic Members membership plugin and woocommerce?
if yes then i will buy the plugin
also we need to install number plugins not i saw there are number of plugins zip inside it .

    Thank you
    Hridaya

    • WPML works great with WooCommerce. I’m not familiar with Magic Members, so I can’t tell. We can check compatibility together with the author of Magic Members, if they are interested in doing this with us.

WPML comes with several modules. We arranged it this way, so that you can pick the functionality that you need and install just these modules.

  2. Bonjour,

WPML est-il compatible avec le thème gridstack visible chez themeforest ?

Autre question : Est-il possible de l’essayer en local ou directement sur le site avant de l’acheter ?

    Merci d’avance,

    Laurent.

  3. hi there,

in order to use WPML, do i need to create two separate website for each language then install your tool and translate? how does your WPML works for multiple sites?

    thanks

    Errol

  4. Hi guys!
I have a site (store) in Spanish
that runs on a wootheme and uses the woccomerce plugin
Would like to know if your product works seamlessly with them and what exactly will it translate? product names? descriptions? etc

Will it translate automatically to English or do I have to make every translation myself?

    thanks

  5. Hi,

I have a client who wants four websites promoting their different product lines. They also want their websites to display a selection of different languages when clicked on – like your example in the footer below. Before I purchase I have these questions:

    1. Can I set up my sites to have the different languages display across the page like your footer?

    2. In using a plugin like Store Locator Plus, will your software translate this type of plugin?

    3. And finally, I am using the Genesis Framework and probably will use the Dynamik Website Builder to create a child theme. Does WPML work with this framework?

Thanks very much for your time.

    John

    • 1. Yes, this is exactly what WPML does. It will add languages to your site, so that each single site can have several languages. WPML offers you to display a language switcher in a number of different ways. You can display it as a footer (like you see in our site), as a drop-down, as a list, or build your custom language switcher.

      2. I’m not familiar with Store Locator Plus. Where is it coming from?

      3. WPML works fine with Genesis. Since Genesis uses the WordPress API very cleanly, there are no compatibility issues at all. I’m not familiar with the Dynamic Website Builder. If it produces clean code such as Genesis, there should not be any problems.

      • Thanks Amir. It may be best to build the sites using the Genesis sample child theme which is well coded. I will purchase your software in the next couple of days.

  6. Hi,

Let’s say that I buy the “Multilingual CMS”… Is there a “Timeframe” for me to be able to update to the “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” by paying the difference?

    Thank you!

  7. Hi there,

Is it possible to do the following with the WPML plugin:

    – 2 languages (Dutch and English)
    – Using 2 different domains
    – Including the translation for the plugins such as woocommerce

Thank you very much for your reply..

  8. I am looking into developing wordpress themes and selling them on marketplaces across the web. Does WPML allow this? What are the necessary steps and costs for me to be able to offer my themes with WPML as a component?

    • You are not supposed to integrate WPML with your themes. On the other hand, you are welcome and encouraged to make your theme compatible with WPML. We have a theme-compatibility team, who can assist you with this work.

Then, you can offer your clients to use WPML for multilingual sites. When you link to WPML (from your website or within the theme) you can use an affiliate link, which will give you 25% commission on every sale that comes through it.

  9. Hi,

    Couple of questions before purchasing:

    1) What is the cost of upgrading from CMS to CMS lifetime? Only the difference or more?
    2) CMS @ $79 – what happens after a year if the renewal is not paid? I won’t be able to receive updates and support but plugin will still function?

    Thanks

    • If you decide to upgrade from CMS to Lifetime, you will need to pay the different. We don’t charge any extra penalty.

Correct. In case you buy a regular account for one year and you don’t renew, you will not have access to updates and support, but what you have downloaded before will remain working and not ‘expire’.

  10. Hy! I like your product and Im ready to buy it but I have still some concerns about doing that. I would like to buld up a site with the wolrd wide responsive theme but I dont know will it work with your plugin because I havent found it on the list of compatible wordpress themes!? If it is not ready yet, would you be so kind to make a statement when it will me ready to use.

p.s. the theme I would like to use can be viewed http://themeforest.net/item/world-wide-responsive-magazine-wp-theme/4940421

    thanx in advance

      • Thanx for your answer. I found that on the autors website under the FUTURES section is a description that they support WPML 🙂

Once more I wish you and your team best luck and success with your work!

  11. Is is possible to manage the translated to content so it is redirected to another domain.

    for instance.

english.com/blog (the english version of the content)
    to
francais.com/blog (for the french version of the content)

the idea behind this is to NOT have the usual

    domain.com/en (for english content)
    domain.com/fr (for french content)

    hope the question is clear.

if it’s not currently a feature, could it be implemented in a future release ?

    thanks

  12. Hi,

is it possible to create a multilanguage site with specific subfolders for each language:

    e.g. homepages
    domain.com/en (default)
    domain.com/es
    domain.com/de

and corresponding permalinks that are linked to each other if language is switched?
    e.g.
    domain.com/en/products/pans
    > switching to es
    domain.com/es/productos/cacerolas
    > switching to de
    domain.com/de/produkte/pfannen

    Thanks

    • Yes, this is normally how WPML works. By default, WPML will not add the language prefix to the default language. However, you can enable it and get the exact permalinks, like in your example.

From your example, it looks like you are planning to build an e-commerce site. WPML works best with WooCommerce. There is a glue plugin for WPML and WooCommerce available and we are almost ready with a major update for it.
      http://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/

      • Thank you for the very fast reply.

How should I setup existing pages?
Right now it’s one database, multiple wordpress installations (different db prefix), manual addition of pages for each language.

Should I merge them into one wp installation? Can I connect pages using WPML afterwards?
        e.g. domain.com/en/products/pans domain.com/es/productos/cacerolas

Or should I start from scratch and re-translate from english version using WPML?

We’re planning to implement WooCommerce, looking forward to you “major update”!

        • Different prefixes in the same database are basically the same thing as separate databases.

You can use XML export and import to transfer the material from the second language to the main site. Then, you will need to indicate that this content is in the second language (in the WordPress GUI) and what each page translates.

If you have a huge amount of content, it might be a good idea to do this with a script.

Certainly, you don’t need to re-write the entire content.

  13. Good day!

    Could I please recheck:
If I own a The WordPress Multilingual Plugin licence I can use this plugin on as many sites I need/want to, right? (I’m not restricted only to one web page)

  14. Hi,

I am a long time user of another free translation plugin which name starts with a q :-). But due to issues with this theme:

    http://demowordpress.templatesquare.com/unioncorp/

I am now going to use WPML. So I have a few questions.

Would you happen to know if this theme will work well with WPML?

If I buy the one year Multilingual CMS version and decide to renew my account after, for example, two years is this possible?
Will I encounter issues updating the plugin?
Will the price of $39 be the same even though I have a two year gap in between buying and renewing my account?

Does WPML work well with metaboxes (shortdescription)?

    Regards,

    Martin

    • We don’t have experience with this theme. I see a comment on the theme support that says it should be compatible with WPML:
      http://themeforest.net/item/union-corp-business-and-marketing-html-template/discussion/1094450#comment_2070252

      But, we haven’t tested it.

In any case, we offer unconditional 30-day refunds. If you are not happy with WPML, you can get your money back.

      1. You can buy WPML and then renew. Renewal costs $39. A lifetime account, that doesn’t require renewals costs $195.
      2. You can buy the renewals for $39 before your account expires. After it expires, you can either buy a new account ($79), or upgrade to lifetime ($116).
      3. WPML works fine with metaboxes.
      4. And, there’s an importer tool from qTranslate.

      Does this help?

  15. Hi,

I have a client and we are going to build a pretty complex wordpress site with custom post types, custom fields, and taxonomies. It’s going to be using a lot of different plugins for different things so I wanted to find out about compatibility with WPML:

    S2Member Pro

    Visual Form Builder Pro

    Newsletter (http://wordpress.org/plugins/newsletter/)

TinyMCE Advanced (wondering about the tooltips over the icons in the TinyMCE editor because site visitors will be able to post stuff and it would be helpful if the tooltips could be in different languages)

Custom Post Types, Custom Fields, Custom Taxonomies (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wck-custom-fields-and-custom-post-types-creator/)

    WP Topbar (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-topbar/)

    WordPress Social Login (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-social-login/)

    BuddyPress

    BBPress

Sorry for such a long list…there are others but I have already verified that they work with WPML.

    Thanks!

    • Sorry for the late reply. Let me answer about each of the plugins that you are asking about.

S2Member – I’m not sure. We don’t have experience with that plugin. From what I read, I think that it should work fine, but we’ve never tried.
Visual Form Builder – again, I don’t know. If the plugin creates forms, they should display fine with WPML. We haven’t seen any forms plugin that doesn’t work with WPML.
Newsletter – If it uses the WordPress custom post types, it will work fine with WPML.
TinyMCE Advanced – no issues with WPML.
CPT, fields, taxonomy – as far as we know, it’s OK, but we haven’t done much testing with that plugin. If multilingual operation is important to you, you might want to consider our Types plugin. Since it’s our, it works fine with WPML: https://toolset.com/home/types-manage-post-types-taxonomy-and-custom-fields/
WP Topbar – I’m not familiar with that plugin and what it does.
WP Social Login – We haven’t used that plugin, but from the description, I don’t see any potential issue with WPML.
BuddyPress – works fine with WPML
BBPress – works fine with WPML

      Does this help?

  16. Can you purchase the basic program and upgrade if you like it before the year is up. Basically, try it for $29.00 and upgrade once you get it going?

    Thanks

    Robert

  17. Hi, My company must have purchased WPML Multilingual CMS because it’s in our plugins for one of our websites. However, we can’t find any login info or code, etc. We have a second website now that we want to use it for and I cannot figure out if we need to buy it again or if we can use it on multiple wordpress sites. Assistance here would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Erica

    • No problem. We can help you find your old account. Can you please use our contact form, to pass your full name to our admin?
      http://wpml.org/home/contact-us/

Please note that if you have an account, but it’s expired, you will not be able to download right now. Let’s first see that we find your account and what its status is.

  18. Hi,

We want to display content in the default language when a translation does not exist. Older threads in the forum here suggest that we would need to duplicate posts to acheive this.

However, we do not want to have more than one copy of a post.

A very recent thread here suggest that there is now a setting in this plugin that allows this:

    http://wpml.org/forums/topic/display-default-language-if-no-translation-on-category-index-page/

I just want to confirm that this is possible and actually works as designed (thread suggests it does not).

    Thanks.

    • For blog posts, there is a pretty old (and working) feature in WPML, to display the untranslated posts in all languages. You can enable it in WPML’s GUI, in the Languages menu. We are using this mode on our own site. As you can see, our Spanish blog shows English posts, and Spanish posts, whenever they exist:
      http://wpml.org/es/noticias/

  19. I’d like to understand if the following will work.
I offer translation services. Say I have 3 clients, A, B and C. Each of these unrelated clients have their own WP website, all of which are monolingual. They each require converting their WP sites into multilingual sites, maybe A only wants Spanish, whereas B wants 10 languages.
My question is if I have purchased WPML CMS, am I able to upload my plug-ins onto all three WP sites to offer each of these clients the required translation services? I ask considering the fact that I have not created these sites and that I would be temporarily granted access to the WP dashboard with admin privileges only to carry out translation tasks and then would be kicked out again, at least until more updates are needed. Or I might agree on an ongoing translation updating relationship.
An unrelated question: There seems to be some conflicts of interest, as they might end up wanting to use the iCanLocalize services that are integrated into wpml if they see that option when they browse the wpml interface. Can I get rid of the option of using iCanLocalize so that it never appears?

    Thanks

    • You need to buy WPML only once and you can use it on all your client sites.

For the content translation, I suggest that you use WPML’s Translation Management module:
      http://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/

You will be able to translate either within the WordPress admin, or using XLIFF files with your desktop CAT tool. The translation management in WPML makes it easy for you to identify what needs translation and keep everything up to date.

ICanLocalize service is optional. You can click on a button to hide it from the translation management screen. I’m sure that if your clients are used to taking the translation work from you, they will not leave you. From our experience, people who approach ICanLocalize directly, take translation from ICanLocalize. Others who have existing relationships with translators, stay with them.

We got the feedback about completely hiding the ICanLocalize messages from the GUI. We will add this to WPML soon, but I don’t think that you need to worry or wait for that option.

      • Thank you Amir for your quick reply.

However, I just need to clarify my initial concerns.

        1. Regarding my initial question, I wanted to confirm only that there is no problem if the WP admin is the client or someone within the client organization or the person or company who created the website for the client. And I wanted to confirm that I can upload these plug-ins to each new client I obtain, even though in each case the WP website was created prior to them becoming my clients.

        2. Regarding the ICanLocalize option: As I say, these are not existing clients. These are potential clients I approach who I notice have a monolingual website which in this particular case turns out to be programmed in WP. Or they approach me for the same reason, since I advertise such services. In these cases, if I understand well, I would upload the plug-ins to allow me (via my translations done in Xliff or other ways) to turn these websites into multilingual websites. Although, since they are not consolidated clients, they are still not bound to me in any way, so they might not know what the difference is between the quality I offer them and the quality iCanLocalize offers them, so they might switch to iCanLocalize if they see the option. Or they might even think the iCanLocalize option is related to me, since I am the one who uploaded the plug-ins offering them translation. This is why I would prefer this option to not appear on an interface that in my case is supposed to be my translation services to them. I would be more inclined to purchase the long-term version if I know for sure that this option will be deleted in the near future.
        Thanks

  20. Hi i need a plugin to auto-detect language and show site in the right language.like someone is visiting my site in france,it will convert site in that language..I just want to confirm that this is possible with WPML.

  21. Hi,
I’m hoping to (soon!!) start a bi-lingual Hebrew/English website & blog using WP, and, I hope, WPML.

I have one major question that is hard to figure out from all the forums I’ve searched and that is:

I want my pages to display with both languages, both in the menu but also in the content, having it appear side-by-side in two columns, one facing the other.

Is this possible? Since I’m building a website, I will need to purchase the WPML for CMS and not the less expensive version for blogs, and I want to make sure it does what I need before I spend the money.

    Many thanks in advance!

    • WPML filters content by language, so if the Hebrew content and English content is separate, it will also be separate on the front-end. If you want to mix between Hebrew and English, you can add both to the same page. I would suggest using custom fields for that. You can create a Visual editor custom field using our Types plugin:
      https://toolset.com/home/types-manage-post-types-taxonomy-and-custom-fields/

Remember that this will have significant implications on SEO. Google wants to understand the language of every page. If it sees pages with 50/50 content, it will not know what to do with them. I suspect that these pages will not return as results for either English or Hebrew.

    • Sorry, but the screenshot that you have uploaded it tiny and I can’t see the details in it.

WPML 1.6.0 is from over 3 years ago. It’s not compatible with current WordPress versions. I’m sure that if you update to the current version, things should work normally for you. From what I saw in the screenshot, you have an issue with listing content in the WP admin (if I see correctly). There shouldn’t be any such issue with current WPML versions.

You will be upgrading from a very old version. Our support staff might need to help you, to do this upgrade correctly.

  22. Hi,

I’m running a small MU network with 9 sites, all administered by me. I need to make 2 of the sites bilingual (English/Portuguese), and I would like to have a few bilingual pages (about, contact, registration) on some of the other sites. Would the Multilingual CMS allow me to do that? In other words, is it all or nothing, or is it possible to just translate selected sites/pages?

    • You can install WPML on a WordPress network. Then, you can choose if you activate for the network (once for all), or per child site.

Each child site can have its own languages, or just a single language without WPML.

And, you can choose what content to translate. Normally, WPML will display only the translated content for each language. You can tell it to show untranslated blog posts in all languages. For pages, WPML includes a convenient content duplication method, that lets you have the same content, in pages in different languages. You can later overwrite with real translations.

      Does this help?

  23. I have a somone that I would like to refer to WPML because it’s such an excellent plugin and your support is second to none but unfortunately can’t set up my affiliate PayPal details because the link next to (Missing, please enter your PayPal email) doesn’t work. What should I do?
