This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to update the WPML plugin, but the WordPress updater shows an error message that the zip file is corrupt. Additionally, when attempting to download the plugin manually from your account, you receive an HTML file stating 'Error: you are not allowed to download this file'.
Solution:
1. Temporarily remove your website here: https://wpml.org/account/sites/. This action won't affect your translation credits or translation memory but will force WPML to refresh the license status.
2. Add your website again and copy the newly generated key. Ensure you use the exact same format as shown in your wp-admin under Settings > General (e.g., http or https, www or non-www).
3. Navigate to Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial in your WordPress dashboard.
4. If visible, click on 'Unregister WPML'.
5. Click on 'Register WPML' and enter the new key.
6. Click on the 'Check for updates' button in the WPML section.
7. Select every plugin marked in red and click on 'Download' at the bottom of the grid.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, our Systems can investigate to see if there could be an internal issue.
If the solution provided here becomes irrelevant due to updates or does not apply to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hello there,

Can you please try to update the plugins by following the steps bellow?

- Temporarily remove your website here: (https://wpml.org/account/sites/). You won't lose any translation credits or the translation memory, this is just to force WPML to refresh the license status
- Add the website again and copy the new generated key, when adding it make sure that you use the exact same format as available inside the wp-admin > settings > general, eg.: http or https | www or non-www
- Now go to Plugins -> Add New -> Commercial
- Click on Unregister WPML if you see it there
- Click on Register WPML and enter the new key you just created
- Click on the "Check for updates" button in the WPML section in the same screen
- After that please select every red plugin available in the list and then click on "Download" at the bottom of the grid.

Thank you, please let me know if it helps or if the issue persists.

Hi Mateus,

We did all the steps with no results, there's still no way to update the plugins from WordPress without getting the corrupted zip error, or download them directly from wpml.org (we get the HTML file with an error message inside).

How can we solve this issue and get the latest version of the plugins?

Thanks.

Hello,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue.

I'll be able to investigate this properly and also update the plugin for you manually while I create a ticket with our systems support team to have the 'Error: you are not allowed to download this file' error checked for you.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

Hi Mateus,

Why is WPML's site returning an HTML file instead of the plugin ZIP file?

We would like to have the ability to download the plugins from our own paid account here at wpml.org and update the plugins ourselves.

Here's a ticket from another customer with the same problem that was solved internally:

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/pclzip_err_bad_format/

Thanks.

Hey there,

I checked this out but so far I couldn't find a fix for it.

I asked my colleagues in the system supports to have a look at this issue in order to see if there's anything I'm missing.

I'll come back here as soon as one of my colleagues reply back to me (which it shouldn't take long).

Thanks,

Hello Timothy,

Our Systems team confirmed that they were able to fix this issue.

Can you please try to download the plugins from within your account page again?

Thank you, please let me know how that goes.
