I am setting up a shop that would have 150 woocommerce-variable-subscription products: (150x 1month, 12month, 24 month plans)
I need to set up multi-currency for each product (GBP & USD) and have the following limitations:
Since each product would have an external demo link (outbound & inbound links: customers would leave to view the demo and then come back to sign-up). Due to the fixed inbound link from the product-demo page, I am unable to duplicate the products in different languages.
I have two questions:
1- Which WPML version would work for woocommerce-variable-subscriptions in multi-currency without duplicating each product. Need to change “currency” and “subscription description”. eg: $10 per month ($120 total) to £8 per month (£96 total)
2- If I duplicate the products for USD & GBP, and there is an internal link for that product: How the link can be used for both different versions?
So without product duplication, can I change any other text on the product page when the currency is charged?
E.g: The product price is £10/m. Woocommerce Subscription would display £120/year Sign-up when customer decides to pay for 12 months.
Customer sees £120/year price. But I want to show £10 for 12 months. Hence, I manually have to add a text on product page that this £120 is £10x12Month.
With all other currency plugins I have tried, I can switch the £120 into $100 but manually-added-text cannot be changed.

Say I have an inbound link for a product in en-us (e.g: example.com/?p=123/), but the customer is in UK. How the WPML would treat that inbound link?
Would they be shown the en-gb product (eg: p=789) or they see the en-us product (eg: p=123)?

I see the invoice was pending payment, which means it has not been charged for and cannot be reused either. I have deleted it from our site. You will need to log in again and start the transaction from the beginning.

I’m thinking of purchasing this plugin. Do you have to create seperate pages for each translation or will the switcher work across the board on the sitemap as is? Also, when you navigate away from a translated page, will the new page still be translated?

when you add the languages switcher it will appear automatically for all your pages that have been translated. But you need to provide the translations first. If you want, you can use machine translations as well but first, you need to choose which pages you want to translate. I asked about a plugin yesterday and I was told your team is making it compatible but don’t know when it will be ready. If you could be a little more detailed I might be inclined to wait and buy WPML, but telling me “we have work in progress to make it compatible. I don\’t know when it will be ready.” is a little vague, this could mean 2 days or 2 months, please be a little more specific.
Also another question, I currently run the WOOCS – WooCommerce Currency Switcher, which I see is on your compatible list, however, I also see you have a currency switcher with your woo-commerce plugin, would it be better just to use your switcher with WMPL rather than use the other developers’ currency switcher?. Can your currency switcher use GeoIP so it detects a user’s IP and automatically switches currencies? or does it work when the user changes language it changes to their currency?. And what about the exchange rates? does it automatically update exchange rates?
We totally understand your situation but this decision is upon our developers and their development roadmap. After discussing it with them, they are planning to improve its compatibility for WooCommerce Multilingual 4.10.0 (our current version is 4.8). However, we can’t tell you exactly when it will be released.
About your other question, we would recommend you to use our currency switcher because in that way you can avoid using several plugins for the same functionality. However, we don’t have a GeoIP feature yet so it may not satisfy all your demands. Instead, you can define a default currency per language, define your own exchange rate or use a service as Fixer.io or currencylayer.

Additionally, not all pages will be needed for the Australian site (for example) and some pages might need individual tweaks.

All you ask about is possible with WPML. WPML has a “duplicate” option/feature that allows you to display the same content for many languages. Whenever you need, you can also “discontent” such a page/post from the original copy and translate your post/page individually. Base on the config suggested, if I choose to duplicate media and I have 7 languages to support, does it mean I will have 7 copies of the same image? this will use up a lot of disk space in this regard. Is there a more optimal approach?
e.g. if I have say an image widget on my page that has words on it, does it count has media translation? or is it text translation? and how about Call for Action widgets? basically, anything other than pure heading and text would consider as an image if they allow image/media?

Hi! We have a website with an online shop (woocommerce) which we run in English language so far. We now want to launch on the German market, hence translate the full page into German.
However, we sell some products in the UK which we might not be allowed to sell in Germany due to different manufacturer contracts.
My question would be whether WPML allows me not only to translate all content, but also chose which I want to sell in Germany and which not.

I am using Cloudfare CDN.
My idea is to either:
– Detect IP geo with Cloudfare CDN option + https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-cloudflare-geoip-redirect/ IF and only IF, I can set that only (1) Homepage redirects automatically
– Detect IP and redirect using https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-geoip-country-redirect/3589163
Whatever the case is, I would like to allow IP redirection only in Homepage.
My question is:
When a user is in (1.2.2) Listing 2, he/she can use the language switcher (from WPML) to change language – and that’s great – but what happens when a user is in the (1) Homepage, the IP redirection says (for example) Spain and therefore Spanish but my user wants to switch to German?
After clicking the language switch button to German, does WPML allow again an IP redirection?

For answering your question, as WPML does not implement any Geo IP redirection, our plugin can’t block any redirection implemented with a CDN or other plugin. That being said, if your user is initially redirected to your Spanish website and he decides to go back to German, he will be allow to do it, it will totally depend on your implementation.

In that scenario WPML would allow the Geo plugin to re-redirect to Spanish again (inmediately).
Elaborate please on that “allow” that you mentioned.

What I’m trying to say is that it totally depends on how you have implemented that functionality. If your plugin/CDN decides to keep a permanent redirection depending on your IP, WPML won’t interfere in that behavior as it is created out of WPML.
If I have redirects on my website pages, for example, I have redirects because off http to https, will your translation plugin still work from page to page? I recently tried another language plugin and when I go for example from my homepage to a product page the language plugin reverts back to the default language.

Let me try to answer your questions:
If you are intending to work with WooCommerce, you will need our Multilingual CMS subscription.
On the other hand, when you use our multicurrency, you don’t have to duplicate your products. Instead, you will have only one product where you can switch between your 2 currencies.

WPML does not have a geo IP location feature. However, if you have created different products per language and you have an US and a UK English, user would be redirected by his browser language.

If you could be a little more detailed I might be inclined to wait and buy WPML, but telling me “we have work in progress to make it compatible. I don\’t know when it will be ready.” is a little vague, this could mean 2 days or 2 months, please be a little more specific.
Also another question, I currently run the WOOCS – WooCommerce Currency Switcher, which I see is on your compatible list, however, I also see you have a currency switcher with your woo-commerce plugin, would it be better just to use your switcher with WMPL rather than use the other developers’ currency switcher?. Can your currency switcher use GeoIP so it detects a user’s IP and automatically switches currencies? or does it work when the user changes language it changes to their currency?. And what about the exchange rates? does it automatically update exchange rates?

We totally understand your situation but this decision is upon our developers and their development roadmap. After discussing it with them, they are planning to improve its compatibility for WooCommerce Multilingual 4.10.0 (our current version is 4.8). However, we can’t tell you exactly when it will be released.
About your other question, we would recommend you to use our currency switcher because in that way you can avoid using several plugins for the same functionality. However, we don’t have a GeoIP feature yet so it may not satisfy all your demands. Instead, you can define a default currency per language, define your own exchange rate or use a service as Fixer.io or currencylayer.

We have been tasked to create a multi-regional site with the client’s current offices in UK, Ireland and Australia. Essentially all English speaking, but separate site environments are still needed.
Additionally, not all pages will be needed for the Australian site (for example) and some pages might need individual tweaks.
Is this all possible with WPML?

All you ask about is possible with WPML. WPML has a “duplicate” option/feature that allows you to display the same content for many languages. Whenever you need, you can also “discontent” such a page/post from the original copy and translate your post/page individually. Ok thanks. Now I have purchased and downloaded the full version. I have a question on media translation. Base on the config suggested, if I choose to duplicate media and I have 7 languages to support, does it mean I will have 7 copies of the same image? this will use up a lot of disk space in this regard. Is there a more optimal approach?
e.g. if I have say an image widget on my page that has words on it, does it count has media translation? or is it text translation? and how about Call for Action widgets? basically, anything other than pure heading and text would consider as an image if they allow image/media?

Yes, it provides translations for Thai and our ATE editor uses the Azure’s MT engine. You can edit the translations if needed.

Hi! We have a website with an online shop (woocommerce) which we run in English language so far. We now want to launch on the German market, hence translate the full page into German.
However, we sell some products in the UK which we might not be allowed to sell in Germany due to different manufacturer contracts.
My question would be whether WPML allows me not only to translate all content, but also chose which I want to sell in Germany and which not.

I manage a directory listing website in Spanish and I would like to make it public in EN and DE.
The structure of the website is:

I am using Cloudfare CDN.
My idea is to either:
– Detect IP geo with Cloudfare CDN option + https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-cloudflare-geoip-redirect/ IF and only IF, I can set that only (1) Homepage redirects automatically
– Detect IP and redirect using https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-geoip-country-redirect/3589163
Whatever the case is, I would like to allow IP redirection only in Homepage.
My question is:
When a user is in (1.2.2) Listing 2, he/she can use the language switcher (from WPML) to change language – and that’s great – but what happens when a user is in the (1) Homepage, the IP redirection says (for example) Spain and therefore Spanish but my user wants to switch to German?
After clicking the language switch button to German, does WPML allow again an IP redirection?
That would be unideal.

WPML has only one redirection feature which works with a 24h cookie depending on the browser language as it is explained here below:

For answering your question, as WPML does not implement any Geo IP redirection, our plugin can’t block any redirection implemented with a CDN or other plugin. That being said, if your user is initially redirected to your Spanish website and he decides to go back to German, he will be allow to do it, it will totally depend on your implementation.

In that scenario WPML would allow the Geo plugin to re-redirect to Spanish again (inmediately).
Elaborate please on that “allow” that you mentioned.

What I’m trying to say is that it totally depends on how you have implemented that functionality. If your plugin/CDN decides to keep a permanent redirection depending on your IP, WPML won’t interfere in that behavior as it is created out of WPML.

If I have redirects on my website pages, for example, I have redirects because off http to https, will your translation plugin still work from page to page? I recently tried another language plugin and when I go for example from my homepage to a product page the language plugin reverts back to the default language.
