Hello,
I would like to build a multilingual website using your plugin,
I would like to ask how i will be able to translate in the pro version the aria label of of woocommerce products. Depending the language to show appropriate aria labe. Is this possible using wpml?
Hello,
I’m not sure if this is possible, probably not, we don’t have it covered anywhere in our documentation and I couldn’t find anything how you would translate aria-label attributes but let me double check with our developers. I’ll keep you posted.
Our devs say that usually we use these aria-labels in links (buttons etc) and they would like to know how you implemented this functionality for your WooCommerce products. We need a bit of context here to better understand your case. Thank you.
When you will reply to me explaining how you added aria-labels please let me know if you also used gettext functions. If you did, they will be recognized by WPML and you will be able to translate them.
I have been trying to translate my food blog for a little while but i have a bit large of pages, post, media and forms. if i use wpml do i need to translate my website in one day or can i save it and translate when i have free time.
Hello, you don’t need to translate everything in one day. You can translate your content gradually and you can also if needed temporarily hide the language switcher.
No need to apologize. Many users ask similar questions and the answer is not obvious either. How it works now, nothing happens fully automatically, I mean without your intervention. If you want to understand how machine translations are used, please check this video: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/
Hello,
by default, you provide your own translations. If you want to use machine translations, you can do so too and then, you can again edit these translations. Yes, WPML works with Elementor too.
Hi, I got the info, that when my client renew his license with the link I will sent him i will have some credits on my account. He paid for a renewal and now I would like to buy another license. Do I have a discount?
Dariusz, you plan to buy WPML with another email address? No, we don’t have any special discounts. But maybe it’s better for you to use your existing account and transfer one of your sites to your client?
if I purchase Multilangual Blog License is it possible to have a local development copy of the website under local domain? Multilangual Blog allow for 1 website registering.
So I want to have:
– mywebsite.com for which I purchased license and
– mywebsite.localhost for development purposes
Yes, you can use WPML on both sites but you will be able to register only one. Registration is needed for updates. You can always unregister one of these sites (for the moment you need to perform the update) and register again.
Buongiorno, forniamo assistenza solo tramite il nostro forum. Se non riesci ad accedere al tuo sito WordPress, puoi usare ftp e cambiare il nome delle cartelle dei plugin WPML – WordPress disattiverà questi plugin. Ti consiglio di aprire un ticket sul nostro forum di supporto per ulteriore aiuto.
Ie. if I make local copy of a website for development purposes mysite.localhost then I do not have to register that local url to use the plugin normally?
Only when I need to update the plugin I can do that only for websites which are registered?
I am glad to inform you, that there are many people out there who do not use PayPal and do not want to open account there just because to buy something from you.
I have a pre-sales question. In the header of the website we are building there is a heading called: WE RESEARCH: and after this there is a typewriter effect spelling out 3 different words, i.e. WE RESEARCH: DATA, PEOPLE and so on. So these 3 words are an animated function in the header. I have yet to find any wordpress translation plugin capable of translating these words since most plugins registers single letters and not animation. If WPML can do this, we will buy it right away but we need to know. Thank you in advance.
Hello Christian,
for now, we cannot give you yes/no answer. It depends on how the animated header is implemented: whether it’s an image, any other kind of media file, whether it’s part of a theme or a plugin (if so please provide us the plugin name) and how it is being added from within your WordPress panel and how these words are being entered.
We are compatible with the Brooklyn theme. Christian, do you use the Visual Composer (which is a site builder) or just WPBAkery (a page builder). If you use Visual Composer please note that we are not compatible with it. But if you use WPBakery you should be able to translate everything you build with this builder.
However I wasnt able to enter the short code or html code for the effect in my answer, it seems the code disappeared when I posted the reply.
So I found out that it is indeed Brooklyn using a WPBAKERY builder and the module is called “custom text module”. Every other translate plugin is not able to translate this effect. But you confirm WPML can do this?
We are compatible with the WPBAKERY builder and WPML’s translation editor (called ATE) can handle all its modules and translate their contents. You should be able to achieve what you want. The only way to absolutely sure is to buy WPML and try it yourself with your exact setup. You will have 30 days to request a refund if it doesn’t work the way you are expecting. During that trial, you can also use our support forum to ask technical questions.
So here’s what I’d do:
1. Buy WPML (CMS package is needed in your case)
2. Install WPML on a simple test site, where you use the module with content you find tricky
3. Try to translate the page and see if you can translate the text module the way you need
if you cannot, open a ticket on our forum for some advice
if it turns out that impossible to achieve what you need, log into your WPML account and request a refund. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
you sure receive your money back within a few days
If the plugin is on our list of plugins compatible with WPML, you will be able to translate recipes without problems. Please check this list (scroll down the page until you see a search) https://wpml.org/plugin/ or please give me the full name of your plugin (or a link to the plugin homepage) and I will check it for you.
If your plugin is not on that list, you might still be able to translate your recipes but we just don’t know. It depends on how these recipes are implemented.
Hi Jeromi,
thank you for both links. Unfortunately, this plugin was never checked by our Compatibility Team. I’ve watched the video and I can see it has many custom elements and it won’t work well with WPML out of the box, without a special integration with WPML. We would need to cooperate with the authors to make it WPML compatible. You can ask the authors to join our compatibility program: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/#contact
Hello. I’m intend to buy WPML Multilingual CMS for the business(EU) I work for and I’ll provide the VAT number of the company. My question is how much money will be withdrawn from my card – $79.00 or $79.00 + $15.80. Thank you.
If you provide a valid VAT number you will pay $79.00 – you will see the final price on your checkout so if you see more than $79.00 it means that the VAT wasn’t taken into account.
The woocommerce store will be guess checkout only and 2 languages and a lot of variations.
1) Does the buyer language is saved within the order?
2) If I edit an original string does it affected / reset the translated string?
3) If the admin backend is set to french and we need to send an email to a buyer later lat say send an tracking number, how to make sure the buyer will received the email in appropriate language not the backend default language?
I’ll try to answer your questions:
1. Yes, you’ll have a parameter in the orders section which saves in which language the order was made.
2. Yes, as every string is associated to its translations, once you modify the original, you would need to resave its translation although WPML String Translation will keep your previous value.
3. Buyers should receive emails in the language of their order.
4. Yes, you can translate attribute variations. https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
If I send subsequent email later let say a tracking number one hour later, will it be send it based on the order language, backend language or I will need to code it to use the order language?
If I don’t need to code it, is this function is a WOO build in function or WPML function?
In which table does the language order is saved.
Note the client will not create an account, guess checkout only.
About string modification
If the main string get modified and I’m not saving the translation, will the old translation dispappear or still available on the website?
WCML store the language order as custom field associated to the order. Thus, It would depend on how you have created your tracking number system and how you are sending those email. However I would say that it would be sent on your admin language.
About the strings, the old translation will be available on the front and backend.
We don’t have another documentation available at the moment for sending emails. You would need to adapt it according to your to your client’s requirement.
I’d like to know the pricing to translate our already existing content. We have around 500.000 words written, and would like to know the cost to have it all translated with DeepL or Google.
Also, our pages are built with Oxygen editor. I can see it is compatible but I have a few questions left:
– Is it possible to create a page translation with different modules and content than the original?
– If we would like to update some page content translations manually, how easy is that? Can we update it at once or do we have to update each string individually?
– Is it possible to translate a string with a certain term and have this updated on the whole website?
1. Is it possible to create a page translation with different modules and content than the original
Yes, it is but in this case you cannot use the machine translations because you would need to kind of bypass our ATE editor. You would need to insert your own translation or do copy-pasting from translators.
2. It’s easy to update translations. Please watch this video to see how it works: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/
3. Not really but if you use our ATE editor it has translation memory implemented which means that if you translate something else using the same string it will already suggest the previous translation, which you just need to approve.
Thanks for the quick reply. About the translation costs, I’ve seen this page already. But unfortunately the pricning goes only up to 500,000 credits. Since we have around 500.000 words written, we would need way more credits to translate the current content. Could you clarify that for me?
Ah, okay, sorry, here’s how it works: To protect both our users and ourselves we have a limit of a maximum 500 000 words to be spent by new clients. After you are successfully charged, we can increase the limit to 1 million. After another month later we can increase it 5, then to 10 millions.
Hello,
We intend to buy the WPML plugin but you have not displayed your company data anywhere on the site. In the order form we entered our VAT code, and even so the final price appears with VAT included. Is your company registered in the EU? According to the tax legislation in force, you should also have a Certificate of Residency Income Tax Assessment Act with all EU member states such as Facebook, Google, Envato, etc. Do you have this certificate for 2021 tax year?
Hello Szabo,
If you have a valid VAT number for EU transactions you should be able to purchase VAT-free. After the purchase you will receive an invoice with all our tax detais.
You can also see our address here https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/
We are planning on using WPML on a WordPress website (not WooCommerce) and want the multi-lingual versions to appear in the local search engines.
So for example one version would be default in English for UK & rest of the world, then we would have another site version in French which would automatically show to users in France and another version in German which would automatically show to users in Germany.
How do we achieve for the French & German language pages to show to the users automatically depending on their location please?
My Website using paid membership pro and need to translate Membership levels and description of the user front end website using string translation between English and Arabic . What type of WPML I may need to translate that plugin?
Hi,
If our company would like to buy your plugin, it is possible to do so and get an invoice that our finance team can pay via wire transfer? I.e not pay upfront via credit card or PayPal?
2-I already have a WordPress database with 80 MB size. Does this plugin double the size because of doubling the page amount. Or is there any option for to save any language to different databases?
3- If I would not renew my licence can I prolong using existing version? If yes, is there any disadvantage?
Hello, thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, it does but only a bit to load the bare minimum of what’s required for a website to run in multiple languages.
2. Yes, WPML will increase the size of your database because when you translate a post or your page a separate version of this post is created and the translation is saved in your database. You cannot save your translations in different databases.
3. You can cancel your WPML subscription anytime and keep the plugins. Your site will continue working but you won’t get updates and our support help.
Hi there!
What does “page builder support” mean in your version features? Does that mean if
I have a website build with a page builder I need to purchase the “multilingual cms” license even if I only need the plugin for one website?
Thanks for your reply!
Hello,
Yes, if you want to use WPML with one of the popular page builders (ELementor, Divi, WPBAkery, etc.), you need the “Multilingual CMS” package even if you plan to use WPML only on one site. The reason why you need the Multilingual CMS package is that to translate content created with page builders you need a few more add-ons that are not included in the “Blog” package.
Hi Dominic,
WPML can’t do that. You can translate any string written in a PHP file but you can’t edit it.
We also don’t have free trials of WPML. You can buy and try it for 30 days, if it doesn’t suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
Hello Jorge,
Does your issue persist? What I can tell you for now is that we don’t have any simial reports from others. Our admins are looking into your specific case. We will keep you posted.
Thank you Jorge. Our admins are looking into it. Do you log into your site with the same IP you posted your comment with? If so, I can see your IP (ends with .190) but if your IP is different, please let us know.
Is there a free non-profit license or a plan to add that kind of licensing?
I’ve been using WPML professionally before and am currently remaking the club’s website with WordPress and plan to make the website multilingual in the future and would love to use WPML there as well.

Hello,
I am glad to inform you, that there are many people out there who do not use PayPal and do not want to open account there just because to buy something from you.
Hello Marin, please choose “Use a different payment processor” on your checkout and you can use your card instead PayPal.
Hi.
Hi and thank you for your reply.
It’s a theme named Brooklyn using Visual Composer. The effect is theme based and the code looks like this in the header:
Vi undersöker varumärken., produkter., människor., UX., CX.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards
Christian
Hi and thank you for your reply.

Your previous question was awaiting moderation. I have just replied.
We are compatible with the Brooklyn theme. Christian, do you use the Visual Composer (which is a site builder) or just WPBAkery (a page builder). If you use Visual Composer please note that we are not compatible with it. But if you use WPBakery you should be able to translate everything you build with this builder.

I forgot to include the link to our documentation for the WP Bakery: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/maintaining-wpbakery-page-builder-compatibility-with-wpml/
I have a food blog. can WPML translate the recipe card plugin that I use for the recipes?.
HI Agnes,
Sure it will be agreat help if you can help me to find if the recipe plugin works for me. the name of the plugin is Recipe Card Blocks by WPZOOM.
Thank you so much
Hi Jeromi,

También nos gustaría saber cuántas palabras hay en la web. Hemos utilizado diferentes plugins pero no nos dan un número correcto ya que exceden en límite.
Muchas gracias,
Hola Teresa:
Se paga una sola vez. Solo vuelves a pagar si mandas nuevo contenido para traducir.
Para obtener el número de palabras mira aquí https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/getting-a-word-count-of-your-wordpress-site/. Podrás hacerlo después de instalar WPML
¡Saludos!
Thanks!
Hi,
The woocommerce store will be guess checkout only and 2 languages and a lot of variations.

Hello Lena,
I’ll try to answer your questions:
1. Yes, you’ll have a parameter in the orders section which saves in which language the order was made.
2. Yes, as every string is associated to its translations, once you modify the original, you would need to resave its translation although WPML String Translation will keep your previous value.

Hi,

About string modification
If the main string get modified and I’m not saving the translation, will the old translation dispappear or still available on the website?
Thanks
Hello there,
WCML store the language order as custom field associated to the order. Thus, It would depend on how you have created your tracking number system and how you are sending those email. However I would say that it would be sent on your admin language.
About the strings, the old translation will be available on the front and backend.

Hi,
I can accross this
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/sending-emails-with-wpml/
but as the buyer will use guess checkout is this post is relevant or there a newer method?
The store will have around 200 products will WPML slow down Woo, this is the only reason why I’m still hesitate to use WPML.
Thanks
We don’t have another documentation available at the moment for sending emails. You would need to adapt it according to your to your client’s requirement.
You can also use our API hook in order to achieve that:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-coding-api/wpml-hooks-reference/

Yes, it is but in this case you cannot use the machine translations because you would need to kind of bypass our ATE editor. You would need to insert your own translation or do copy-pasting from translators.

Hello,
We intend to buy the WPML plugin but you have not displayed your company data anywhere on the site.
You can also see our address here https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/
Let me know?
Hi
We are planning on using WPML on a WordPress website (not WooCommerce) and want the multi-lingual versions to appear in the local search engines.
So for example one version would be default in English for UK & rest of the world, then we would have another site version in French which would automatically show to users in France and another version in German which would automatically show to users in Germany.
How do we achieve for the French & German language pages to show to the users automatically depending on their location please?
Thank you
Hello Lucie,
WPML has a browser language redirection feature https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/
but not a country redirection, feature. Would this help?
Yes, that helps. Thank you.
Hello,
My Website using paid membership pro and need to translate Membership levels and description of the user front end website using string translation between English and Arabic . What type of WPML I may need to translate that plugin?
Thank you
Hello,
the Paid membership pro plugin is not on our list of plugins compatible with WPML which mean it wasn’t tested for WPML compatibility by our team (and you might have issues when using it with WPML). I see that some of our clients use it: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/paid-membership-pro-strings-arent-translated-when-i-visit-the-pages/ If you want, you can give it a try, keeping our refund policy in mind.
Hi,
If our company would like to buy your plugin, it is possible to do so and get an invoice that our finance team can pay via wire transfer? I.e not pay upfront via credit card or PayPal?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
// Anette
Hello, I’m sorry but paying by credit card or PayPal is the only option.
1-Does this plugin affect performance of website?
Hi,
I was wondering does this plugin allow me to edit any content that is written into my themes php files within the templates?
And also is there a demo which I can use before I decide to purchase?
thanks
Hi Dominic,
WPML can’t do that. You can translate any string written in a PHP file but you can’t edit it.
We also don’t have free trials of WPML. You can buy and try it for 30 days, if it doesn’t suit your needs we will refund you https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
Kind regards,
Hello, when I log into the WPML page I get:
“There has been a critical error on this website. Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”
I have tried in different browsers and the result is the same …. I cannot access my account

Is there a free non-profit license or a plan to add that kind of licensing?
I’ve been using WPML professionally before and am currently remaking the club’s website with WordPress and plan to make the website multilingual in the future and would love to use WPML there as well.
Hello Daniel, please contact us directly via this form: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/ and we’ll see what we can do for you.
Do you offer discount pricing for non-profits?
Hello Cindy,
Can you send me the non-profit details, including the url here?
