  1. Hello,

I am running my website on WordPress based on the Avada theme. Now I am planning to use WPML to build more language sites. But I am not sure whether the page element had to change to the global element then can translate it. If I don’t change the container, column, and element to the global option, whether it can translate them directly? For before that Avada’s Global container content have some problems with the Hyperlinks. I am afraid it causes much trouble.

    Please advise, thanks!

    Kind regards,

    Elva

  2. Hi I am Leo,

I am working for a digital marketing agency, current taking in charge of self-hosted WordPress platform and searching a suitable multilingual plugin. We may need to deactivate a website if its owner decides not to cooperate with us, and I have some questions about this issue:

    1. Can I deactivate a website from your admin area?
    2. What happen if a website no longer has valid license(which means it is deactivated from your admin area )? Will the premium feature of WPML still work? Can it receive update?
    3. If a website is deactivated by me from your admin area, but the site owner buys a license by himself, does he need to delete the plugin installed by me and install a brand new one with a valid license? Or he just needs to update the license from WordPress backend, no need to delete the plugin installed by me?

    • Hello Leo,
      1. I assume that by deactivating a website you mean deregistering the WPML key. Yes, you can do it from within the admin (go to Plugins > Add new > Commercial tab). You can also do it from your WPML account.
      2. You can still use WPML plugins but you won’t get updates.
      3. No need to do anything with the plugins. You just need to update the key. Please note that registering WPML takes place in two places: on your WP site and on your WPML account and it needs to be a matc: https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#register

  3. Hello
What happens after the the one year license expires? I won’t get updates and support, but otherwise the plugin will still be usable?
    Thanks

    • Hello George,
if you don’t cancel your WPML subscription it will try to renew automatically after the first year. You can still use WPML plugins even with an inactive subscription but in this case, you won’t get updates and support.

  4. Hi.
We have a woocom site, whre we have a import plugin from a couple of companies (products)
Can we import csv files to WPML as language files .. (we will use first 3 languages – after we will use at least 4 more)

  5. Hello,

i have a question about the automatic translation pricing.

I saw some competitors use e.g. the Google Translation API to translate text, as they translate the in the frontend. So you’re not paying them but google for monthly usage.

However, you provide 2000 words a month included in your higher plans. Does this mean, i can use these credits to translate the needed text once and it will remain translated without additional/recurring costs?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Benny,
We offer 2,000 credits for free. Once you have translated the content, it will remain on your site and we will not charge you again, unless you have more content to translate.

  6. We currently use WP 5.7 with kadence theme and we use elementor pro 3.2.1 to to edit the pages.
Would your plugin be compatible with this configuration?

I do like the look of your plugin very much.
Is there any possibility to try before buy for a limited period?

  7. Hello,

We are a UK based company looking into WPML to provide a US-spelled version of our website. Would we be able to control the position of the flag switcher and appearance if we get our developers to configure this plugin?

    Thanks,
    Lorna

  8. Overview:
We are considering purchasing the “Multilingual CMS” plugin. We desire to translate our English website into the Spanish language for our Spanish visitors.

    Concern:
We are concerned about page loading speed since Google has made this a priority for the next roll-out of their “Google bot” algorithm. Therefore, please tell us how many fonts, javascript, and CSS files will be loaded on the homepage and subsequent pages. Thank you for the help.

    • Hello,
WPML’s impact on your site performance is little because WPML operates mainly on the backend (you need to prepare your translations in advance, on the backend and then you display translated content on the front-end and for displaying it you don’t need any extra fonts, JS and CSS – you use the scripts from your theme). Actually, we are working on a tutorial on how to set up a multilingual site that gets good scores at PageSpeed Insights. Here’s our test site: https://multilingual.otgs.work/

  9. I have already purchased “Multilingual CMS for life” which means as I remember I can install WPML on as many websites I want cos this license covers it

So my question is why I am seeing something like this on my account page when I click “Register WPML on your sites”

    “Renewal Payments” ???
and an option to transfer “payments” to my clients ?

What does it means, is that means my licence is not lifetime with unlimited amount of installation (websites) ? and my clients needs to pay for it (or me – again ) ?

    • Hello Tomasz, I have checked your account in our system and you have the “Multilingual CMS for life” type of account which means that you don’t need to pay again.

    • Hi Tomas,
If you have a lifetime subscription you can register WPML on unlimited sites. You have the option to transfer the renewal payment to your clients, for their sites exclusively. This is an optional feature if you want your clients to manage updates and support independently. If not, you are welcome to keep them registered through your account, at no further cost.
      More info here https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/

      Hope this explains things

      • Ok, that is clear enough (: thanks. TO anyone who wonder about buying lifetime license (if available yet (: ) – it is worth it !

  10. Hi there, I’m trying to renew my licence as my company had changed it’s credit card. However when I click place order for the renewal, it’s asking for the full price? Should it not be at slightly cheaper at $59? Thanks

    • Hi Jason,
I have fixed your account so that you can update the payment method and renew with teh discount again. Please log in and confirm.

      Kind regards,

  11. We are a non-commercial, non-profit institute and have legal restrictions on the cost of running their model for customer payments. We only need one more token for our Multilingual CMS Lifetime for a fourth local development instance (website). What exactly can they suggest in this exact case? There is no interaction and option for a temporary development site.

    • I’m sorry but we don’t offer lifetime accounts anymore. If you already have a lifetime account, you can register as many sites as you want.

    • Hello Kerstin,
Do you already have a lifetime subscription for WPML? If so, you can use it on the new site. Your lifetime subscription allows you to register unlimited sites.

      Kind regards,

  12. Hello,
We are working on a plugin for our client, who would like the plugin to have WPML support – is it possible to receive the plugin for a specified period of time (more than 30 days) for development and testing?

  13. Hi,

I’m trying to get WPML (CMS version) procured for my government group.. but I’m running into delays getting someone with a credit card to run the transaction. Any chance you could email me an old-school invoice and run the purchase that way?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    • Hello Eric, I’m sorry but this is not possible. When you buy WPML a subscription is set up (which of course you can cancel with a few clicks anytime).

  14. Hi

Can you confirm if its possible to change the domain name to another country??

    Example:

Current domain for our UK site is: domainname.co.uk

But if the customer was to click the French translation, it would go to: domainname.fr

    Thank you

  15. Hi,

I’m looking into buying the WPML (lifetime) so I can use it for several of my clients websites, but all of these are still in a local development stage.

How would I deal with this, regarding the registration part of the plugin?
And when transferring the website to a online hosting company, are there any gotcha’s to keep in mind going from local to web?

    thanks!

    rob
    holland

    • Hello,
      we don’t sell lifetime subscriptions.
When you change the domain, you need to generate a new key. You can delete your old key and generate a new one or you can keep both.

      • Ah..

I found some info online WPML was also available as a perpetual license. Maybe that has changed since then?

Just to be sure, I can use the plugin in my local offline development website, and later move it all online and register the website properly?
And if I have more than three websites to register, I have to buy another license I guess?

        cheers,

        rob

        • Hi Rob,
          all correct:
          1. We used to have lifetime accounts no longer do.
          2. You can you WPML plugins in your local and later move it all online and register the site
          3. Yes, but you can simply upgrade and our system will calculate the new price proportionally to what you have already paid for. You need to be logged in at wpml.rog when doing so

  16. Hi,

Slightly confused about the pricing breakdown. I understand how the credit cost works, however the wording of “charged based on the actual number of words you translate each calendar month” is unclear to me.

Does that mean if I translate 1000 words into 5 languages, it counts as 1000 original words?

    or

1000 words translated into 5 languages, it counts as 5000 words total?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Konrad,
It’s per translated word, per language.
1000 words translated into 5 languages, it counts as 5000 words total?
      > This is correct

  17. I took on recently the care of this Multilanguage Blog that a company uses as a Multisite solution for their various Blog languages in a Multi-Site WordPress installation. Each language has its own Blog as a subdirectory /de or /en, etc. .

Each Blog runs on its own Multisite.
You can see the 2 Plugins from WPML that need updating here on this screenshot link https://i2.paste.pics/C9L7N.png

The developer that originally did the work is no longer available.

    I have to update:
    – WPML Multilingual CMS and
    – WPML String Translation

I’d love to hear back from you asap so that we can purchase a renewal and have the latest versions of the Plugins on our site.

    Thanks in advance for that.

    Best regards
    Shaun

    • Hi WPML, I just checked via the PLUGINS and then COMMERCIAL if I could update there and saw this message:

      https://paste.pics/C9LEL

      It says.
Invalid site key for the current site. If the error persists, try to unregister first and then register again with the same site key.

If I unregister, will the Plugin continue to work on my Multisite? I can’t have it NOT work. But if I can unregister and then buy an update and then get the updates, that would be awesome.

      BR
      Shaun

      • Hi Shaun,
After you purchase the new subscription you will be able to register the site again and WPML will keep working normally on your site.

        Kind regards,

  18. Hello,

I have two technical questions to ask:

Using WPML in combination with AIO SEO is it possible to automatically translate categories and tags?

Is it possible to translate automatically the Meta description of the categories and tags?

If yes could you kindly send me some screenshots by email?

    Kind Regards,
    Edoardo

  19. I do not have paypal and I am trying to Buy Multilingual CMS and when I cancle Paypal full order got cancle, why I am not able to use credit card?

  20. Hi there!

We are building and new website and I want to continue to use WPML like translation plugin. The problem is I can not access to my account because it was bought with my collegue email account which is not available any more. Could you help me to recover my access data?

  21. From our understanding, with this plugin, there is auto-translation OR the client can add the Chinese language content themselves in the backend as well. We need this plugin to auto translate and then if the translation is not to the client’s preference, we can edit it, if needed. Is this possible? Thanks

  22. Hello,

I would like to use your plugin to translate my webpage but I have a doubt, Does the plugin recognize the user’s IP ?, for example, if my user has a Spanish IP, It would automatically put the page in Spanish and if the user has an English IP, put the page in English??

    Thanks so much

    • Hello Pablo,
WPML cannot redirect the user by IP but it can by the default language the user has set in their browsers. This option is disabled by default because it feels more natural to provide a languages switcher so that the user can do it themselves and besides this feature is often overrated. In real life most of the traffic you are getting to your site comes from search engines (such as Google) and users looking for information would be provided links already in their language.

To sum up, we do have such an option but you need to enable it yourself in WPML settings.
