Hello i have some questions before i proceed to the purchase if you can help me.
1. Is your plugin compatible with storefront theme?
2.if i purchase the paid version, is it one plugin all in one or do i have to download more plugins? for example for multilingual SEO etc.
3. I currently use another plugin(translate press) and using the automatic translation by google. Will all of my translations get lost or when i activate your plugin will keep the previous translations so i will not have to pay again for new automatic translations?
4. Currently for german my site is domain.com/de, with your plugin will this remain the same? If not, will it cause problems with my links or redirections or else?
5. Is your plugin compatible with WP Rocket and asset cleanup caching plugins?
6. Does your plugin translate product categories well? Cause other plugin create problems (for example they add a -2 character which causes problems to the links and make them 404 not found.
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, it is. https://wpml.org/theme/storefront/
2. All WPML plugins are included in the CMS and Agency pages. Only the Blog package is limited.
3. I’m afraid so because WPML stores the data in a different way and you would need to do some copy-pasting.
4. Yes, the domain will remain the same. I’m not sure what are the URLs of your pages/posts. If there are like domain.com/de/uber-uns, no problem.
5. Yes, it is. We like this plugin a lot and also use it.
6. Yes, it does.
Hello,
I am transitioning a registered charity’s website to a wordpress site and have recommended they use WPML as the multilingual translation plugin. Do you still offer a free subscription to non-profits and registered charities? I can’t find any links about it on the site, though I did use WPML previously on another non-profit website (awb-usf.org) and recall it was free.
I have been reading through the documentation and just want to clarify how the WPML plugin would work for our theme and plugins.
1) We have a theme which is in English. We want the default language to be Italian. This might be using separate domains or using a base domain with sub-directories as per your options.
How do we achieve this priority of Italian? Is it just a question of ordering the ‘flags’ or ‘language links’ into the order we want? Does WPML manage this process (perhaps when the Language URL Format is chosen or the language switcher settings are made)? Or do we in some way make the .po or .mo files for Italian to be the default ones?
2) We will obviously have various plugins
How are the plugins translated? Do we do those separately to the theme or does WPML allow translations for all the plugins to be made at the same time? Does each plugin use separate .po and .mo files?
Your comments and suggestions for further reading in your documentation would be helpful.
Yes, you can make Italian your primary language. WPML can read your po/mo files of your theme/plugin. If needed, you can even created your own po/mo file using WPML.
2. If your plugin includes po/mo files, WPML can read these files. But there are some plugins that po/mo files won’t suffice and they need to be compatible with WPML to allow you to translate everything the plugin produces. Please check this table to see the plugins that are compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/plugin/
Hello,
how it works now, you can still install and use WPML plugins even without an active subscription because registration is required only for updates. But soon (in a new release of WPML that is coming), this is supposed to change and the registration key will be required to configure WPML plugins (right after installing WPML). But still, even if you cancel your subscription, you will be able to use WPML plugins but you won’t be able to install them on new sites.
Hi!
I need to translate WooCommerce product categories, but just the category names.
I want the same products to be in the default-language category and the new-language category. Is this possible?
I’m asking because I read in a few year old post, where someone wanted to do the same, but that translated product categories were not in sync with the actual categories in the default language.
He had to duplicate all the products in the new language and sort them in the new-language categories…
Actually, it’s a tricky case. In theory, it should work as you expect but sometimes it doesn’t and it depends on the theme and plugins you use. If you want to give it a go, you can buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind.
When I go to My account > Payment history and invoices , the only invoice I can find is the one from the day I purchased the plugin. Today and yesterday I bought some extra credit for translation and I can’t find the invoices anywhere.
When purchasing automatic translation credits, does pricing depend on how many languages we are translating into? For example, if we have a page in english with 100 words, and we want to translate into french, german and spanish, and use azure translation (1 credit per word) would we need to purchase 300 credits? one for each word for each language? Or 100 credits (1 credit per word in the original language).
My client may wish to streamline and combine a translated page to cover multiple pages in English. It’s not really clear in the documentation, but I’m assuming a single translated page can be “assigned” to multiple original pages, yes? Thanks!
Hello Deborah,
This is not how WPML works by default. You could do this with a workaround duplicating the translated page. You could ask for help in the support forum if you need it.
My wife and I have a website on which we sell the books we wrote ourselves. That are few. We wrote them in three languages, so we will offer the site in three languages.
In fact, it are only few pages and an order form, all using Elementor. So, no Woocommerce or other selling plugins.
Actually, at language switching, only the menu and the pages should be shown in the selected language.
Would the cheapest version of WPML would do the job for us?
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. To translate content created with Elementor you will need the CMS package (the Blog package won’t suffice in this case). You might find this documentation useful: https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/
I am interested in acquiring the WPML plugin and I was trying to understand how the renewal works and didn’t find any clear explanation on your website.
Here are a few questions in this regard:
1. Most important: is it obligatory to renew the plugin every time or I can purchase it once and then use?
2. Can I use this product for multiple websites or only for a single installation?
3. I want to first install it on a staging server and than move to the live one with a different domain name. Will it be a problem for licensing-renewal issues?
4. I am not sure my theme perfectly supports WPML, if I am not satisfied can I ask for a refund?
Hello,
1. No, it’s not obligatory to renew but if you want to pay only once you need to cancel your subscription before your first year ends.
2. Depends on the type of account you have.
3. No, there won’t be a problem.
4. Yes, we provide a 30-day refund policy.
I would like to know if I use wpml to translate the website, but during the translation process, there are errors, can I change them myself in the manual?
Hi,
I have one pre-sale question. I have to build a site that will have to be in 3 languages: Serbian Cyrillic, Serbian Latin and English. However WordPress doesn’t have localisation support for Serbian Latin (ISO 639-1). I presume that is possible to create some kind of “dummy” language in WPML for Serbian Latin but is it possible to use ISO-15924 for hreflang =”sr-Latn-rs” and locale = sr_RS for it? Also what about data formats (date, currency etc …)?
I purchased 2 days ago your plug in, paid and never received a log in so i can go to downloads and get my plug in. Please be so kind and resolve as i need asap.
Hello Christoph,
thank you for buying WPML. I didn’t find any records in our system with your email (the email you posted this comment with). Maybe you made a typo in your email? If so, please contact us directly via this form: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/ to sort this out. We don’t want to exchange your private data via public comments. Thank you.
I want to use your plugin using elementor page builder.
However, if i want to edit 2 same pages of different languages. I see that the elementor menu (where you select your elementor blocks) gets auto-translate. (No matter the user settings or worpress admin settings)
So, when i’m on an english page, the blocks are in english. And if i’m in a Sweden page, the blocks are in Swedish.
Is there a way to always have the elementor block in the same language when editing a page with elementor?
I don’t want to translate the page on the page backend dashboard or to have to duplicate page traduction.
I would like to be able to modify the page using elementor blocks directly on the page itself.
Is there a solution for this ? What do you propose ?
Hello Glen,
we have a special integration with Elementor which allows you to have only one page in Elementor and for other languages, you only translate the content (strings of text) without the need of recreating the same page again. Please check our documentation to see how it works: https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/
i hv tried/evaluated various different translation plugins on a couple of different sites in dev.
i hv some trouble getting my head around (or remembering) how all the different plugins actually work/function
today, i wanted to ask about one site which is a dating site specifically for Vietnamese (or more exactly Vietnamese women) (and later for other SEA countries)
so I want …
1. only English-Vietnamese pair
2. to easily manually check and correct static headings and body text
3. automatic dynamic translation of all Profiles, with manual editing
4. automatic dynamic translation of all functions like Chat
5. all of these should be user-switchable
6. NOT to use Google Translate if at all possible because its translations are simply appalling and laughable (if not for what often could be serious misunderstandings)
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, WPML supports Vietnamese but as you can see here: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs only Microsoft’s and Google’s machine translation are supported (no DeepL) so you would need to provide manual translations or use these ones but then make manual edits.
2. Yes
3. What are profiles and how you created them on your site? Have you used any plugins?
4. What are chats? Have you used any plugins?
5. What do you mean by user-switchable?
6. Please see my answer to #1

Thanks in advance,

Yes, you can use your card, on the checkout click “Use a different payment processor” (below the big orange “Place order” button)

Hello Nicholas,
Thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions:
1. WPML supports both options: sub-directories or separate domains but if you would like to use separate domains some extra steps are required to be done on your server: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/
Yes, you can make Italian your primary language. WPML can read your po/mo files of your theme/plugin. If needed, you can even created your own po/mo file using WPML.

Hi.
If I want to upgrade my WPML version from 4.4 to 4.5 what is the way?
Thanks.
You need to wait for the WPML 4.5 release first. We are going to provide the beta version soon.
Can I pay for the translation service by PayPal?
Yes, you can. This is the default option on our checkout.

Hi!
See here https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#viewing-your-invoices
The automatic translation invoices are downloaded from a different location.
Kind regards,
Hello,
Can I buy directly a lifetime WPML plug in ?
I know that I will need the plug in more than 1year, so I want to choose the more economic solution now,
Thank you (and sorry for my english 🙂
Charles
Hello Charles,
I am afraid we have stopped selling new lifetime subscriptions. We now sell yearly subscriptions only https://wpml.org/purchase/
Kind regards,

Hi Kurt,
Yes, you will need to purchase credits for the number of languages you are translating to. In your scenario, it would be 100 credits.

Just need a clarification –

Hello,
please log into your WPML account and open a ticket here: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/ One of our supporters will look into your problems.
for transfer WPML plugin from one site to another in a same domain name.
Hello,
I think the beginning of the sentence is missing:
Could you please ask your question again?
But if your intention was to ask if you can transfer WPML plugins from one site to another within the same license, the answer is yes, you can.
I would like to know if I use wpml to translate the website, but during the translation process, there are errors, can I change them myself in the manual?
Hello, yes, of course, you can update all machine translations.

Hello,
you can add any language as explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
You can also have different date formats for languages: : https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-your-sites-date-format-using-wpml/
If you want to add currencies you would need to use the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin (included in the CMS package).
Hello, I would like to inquire about the possibility of translating all products in WooCommerce automatically with one click of a button.
Hello,
this is actually a few clicks. Please check this page:
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatically-translating-multiple-translation-jobs-in-bulk/
and instead of pages you would need to choose products.
In WPML 4.5 (coming soon, in a month or two) you will have a way to translate all your products immediately.
Dear WPML Team,
I purchased 2 days ago your plug in, paid and never received a log in so i can go to downloads and get my plug in. Please be so kind and resolve as i need asap.
