  1. 1. Yes, WPML supports Vietnamese but as you can see here: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs only Microsoft\’s and Google\’s machine translation are supported (no DeepL) so you would need to provide manual translations or use these ones but then make manual edits.
    * i know Deepl doesn’t. i would use Azure which apparently you also use for  translation, and would only use Google Translate engine as a last resort because it simply appalling. i believe Amazon also has a translation engine. also i thought that maybe there was a higher end Google translation engine than Google Translate?

     2. Yes
    3. What are profiles and how you created them on your site?

    Have you used any plugins?
    * ‘any plugins’? not sure what your meaning is. if you mean translation plugins, several – weglot, translatepress (current), Polyglot

    4. What are chats? * user Chat, user Forum

    Have you used any plugins?
    * not really these. although prob use Chaport for site chat

    5. What do you mean by user-switchable?

    • Hello, the Google translations in WPML are the same as if you would use https://translate.google.com/.
I need to know what WordPress plugins you used for handling your dating Profiles, Chats and Forums. WPML might not translate everything from your site. If you use a theme and plugins that are compatible with WPML, it means that you will be able to translate everything from your site. This is why I’m asking about the plugins you are using on your site. I need the full names and links to the plugin site. Then I will check if these plugins are compatible with WPML. When you have a clean WordPress it doesn’t provide any Chta, Forums and dating profiles, so that’s why I assume you used some WordPress plugins for these. If you want, you can also check it yourself: here’s where you can check if your theme is compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/theme/ and on this page you can check if your plugin is compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/plugin/

    • Hi Glen,
Agnes is away already. If you mean that you don’t want do have some Elementor blocks available in our Translation Editor, you would need to add some custom code and override our XML configuration file.

    • Hello Glen, I missed your comment. Yes, the default option in WPML is that you apply your translations, not machine translations.

  2. Hi! Sorry for such a simple question, but trying to understand how this program works — does WPML allow for translations of the lost-password/log-in process in multiple languages, including the error messages if you’ve input an incorrect password, etc.? And translations for, say, the notification emails sent from a specific plugin, like WP Forms?

And would this just be a case of finding every possible string in English and providing our own translations?

  3. Dear Agnes,

I have read documentation how to make custom language. But in that case i will have two languages (serbian latin and serbian cyrillic) with same default locale – sr_RS. Also will have to use hreflang – language code from ISO-15924. What i m asking here is that ok? Do search engines especialy google accept that kind of settings without making duplicate content or some kind of penalty?

  4. I have a WordPress website where we need to create hundreds of pages (specific flight deals that change all the time) daily. We are creating those pages out of the WordPress Loop, but we are loading the header, sidebar & footer. Everything works fine except for the translations, for which we were using another plugin, but we now need to switch since they told us it wasn’t possible to make it work. We need to assign the page language in PHP for thoe pages out of the wordpress loop so that the correct header, footer & sidebar are loaded. Here’s more context:

Those pages aren’t being registered as posts (or custom posts) on WordPress and I’m manually pointing to their translation.

The major issue I was facing is that I couldn’t set the language of those pages directly on the page. If I opened a French page directly (on an English browser), WordPress would loads the English menu, sidebar, and footer.

Also, if I was coming from a previous page that was created with WordPress, and used my custom language switcher to change the language on any of those custom deal pages, WordPress keeps loading the previous language for the menu, sidebar, and footer.

Is there a way with WPML to set or force the language directly on a page in PHP so that WPML/WordPress loads the correct menu, sidebar, and footer?

I was looking at switch_lang() function which seems to do that, does it?

    • Hello Kevin,
your case involves custom coding which is beyond the scope of our support. It’s difficult to provide you a yes/no answer based on a description posted in a comment. I will give it a try and share your comment with our developers to see what they say. Will keep you posted.

    • Hello Kevin,
our devs say that this hook (switch_lang) might work in your case but as I mentioned before it’s difficult to say more without a deeper look into your case. Here’s what you can do: 1. buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind
      2. use our support forum to ask specific questions (you can also share access to your site with our supporters if needed)
If it turns out that you cannot achieve what you would hope, go to your WPML account and fill out the refund form. We will refund your order. But you need to do it within 30 days after your purchase.

  5. Hello ! Sorry I’m a bit confused~
Will the automatic translation charge me monthly ? or one-time ?

For example, I’ve used 5000+ credit on my site but won’t use any automatic translation in the future. So will I be charged $2 one-time or $2 every month ??
    Thanks

  6. Hello WPML team,

Thank you for your last response Mercedes!
However, that’s not what i meant by this. (Hide Elementor blocks using XML is not what i’m looking for and i don’t want to do https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/ also)

This is really important for me to know if we can prevent WPML auto-translation when editing a page with Elementor plugin. I want to create a page entirely with Elementor blocks editor on different languages but the blocks are being auto-translated by WPML plugin when being on the page to edit it.

So the blocks are in a different language that i can’t understand. I would like to have the elementor blocks menu in the same language every time i edit a page, no matter the page language is.

Is this possible? How can i do that?
Thank you very much for the help,

    • Hello Glen, no worries, nothing happens automatically. How WPML works now, even if you want to use machine translations, you need to manually pick pages for which these machine translations will be applied. Please check this page to see how our ATE editor work: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/

After WPML 4.5 (in about two months) we will have more translation options that allow you to apply machine translation automatically and keep these pages as drafts before you review them or apply machine translation immediately and publish the pages. But you don’t need to use these options.

  7. Hi.
I am developing a wordpress website for our company.
I would like to know if I can buy and install your plugin in our development environment and then install it in the production environment when the developments are concluded.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    // João

    • Hi João,
Yes, you can do this. You can use WPML on your development site without registering it (the subscription key is used to receive updates). Or, you can use WPML on your development site first and register it, and then, when the live site is ready remove the old url and register the live site. If you plan to buy the CMS subscription it allows you to register up to 3 sites and you should be covered.

      Best,

  8. If I purchase a Multilingual Agency license and use it for a client website, do clients renew directly with you or through me? Is technical support through you or through me?
Does the automatic translation get billed directly to the client or the agency?

  9. Hi,

Im testing the WPML in a staging site. It is possible to have some credit to test the automatic translation?

    Thanks

  10. Thanks Agnes for the response and information on the last comments !

When you say “no worries, nothing happens automatically” -> Actually it does, and that is my issue!

The content is not translated automatically no. (Which is good)

But the Elementor Blocks are being translated !! (the left elementor menu when you edit a page)

(It is like for the wordpress dashboard that is being auto-translated automatically if you put the “translate admin dashboard” option)

However there is no option to prevent elementor blocks not be translated by WPML. They are directly translated by WPML and i can’t found an option to disable this automatic translation.

Thank you very much again for the support,

    • Hello Glen,
maybe we are mixing up what WPML translates (actually enables for your translation, since as I mentioned, nothing happens fully automatically and you need to take an action first in a explicit way, meaning click something, send to translation etc) and what you get automatically from the so-called po/mo files, which are translations provided by a plugin or a theme.

I didn’t know that you are already using WPML because you posted your questions in the pre-sales section (which is meant for people who are not WPML clients yes).

Please log into your WPML account, open a ticket on our support forum: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/ provide the link to your site and the credentials (we have some special private fields for this) and explain your problem. Show examples with the sections/pages that you find being auto-translated automatically. One of our supporters will look into it.

  11. Hi, is it ok, that with expired license from 2016 i can still download all latest versions under My downloads?
You better fix that bug quickly 😀

  12. Does it need to be the All-in-one Seo Pack Pro or the free version to integrate with WPML? I have a badic 5-page site and paying $199/year for AIOSEO PRO is too much for me

    • Hello Frank. You can use WPML with the free version as well. We are compatible with both the free and pro version of All-in-one Seo.

  13. Hi Laura,

Oh that’s great to hear. How do we go with dealing Canonical URLs since it’s on a multi-language setup. We don’t want google to read two pages with English and the translated counterpart at the same time.

    Best regards,

    Frank

  14. hi there agnes

    digressing …

    1. when i click Reply (here) nothing happens

    2. because of a constant/frequent PayPal bug with authentication, i find (again) i cannot use PP, and your payment option does NOT have the PP CC option that it can hv so you can still pay by CC.

    kind regards

    don

    • Hello,
      1. When you reply here, the comment is awaiting moderation
      2. Our current logs show no issues with PayPal of paying with a credit card. Can you please describe what exactly you are doing and what you find buggy? Thank you.

  15. For my last report, i didn’t receive any email, because i had old one in my profile,
now i have added correct email.

  16. Hi Agnes,

Thanks for the speedy reply. Yes, I think it’s the hreflang. So, we have the english as default language, and another one in french. So it would look like this :

    English : http://www.domain.com/the-page
    French : http://www.domain.com/fr/the-page

Google should determine which language of the site to display in correct location. So for an instance, Google France should be indexing the french version of the page and not the english version.

Do you see what I mean?

    • Google will index your site in all languages you have added to WPML. Then, when a Google user is typing his/her query in the Google search in French, Google will provide him/her the content from http://www.domain.com/fr/ pages, not from English pages.

  17. hi agnes

    1. the prob is that 1. this not a properly threaded conversation, otherwise our discussion all together; and 2. when you select Reply, it is many pages down at the bottom, NOT directly under what you are replying to.

    2. re PP. PP has a payment form option NOT to login to PP (which is my problem), but pay directly with CC

    kind regards

    don

    • Hello,
      1. If you use Reply for the proper thread, it will appear in the right place. But once there are two many nesting levels, it would ignore nesting.
      2. I will pass your feedback to the people in charge of wpml.org and PayPal integration but if you cannot find the option you need, you might want to pay with a credit card (please use “Use a different payment processor” at the very bottom of your check page page).

  18. Hi

pre-sale question: I understand that after license is expired, we have not updates of the last version.

So, what happens with Multilingual Agency with unlimited sites after the license is expired? Can we still install the plugin and use our license for unlimited sites with the old plugin version?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Spacer,
After a subscription expires you cannot receive updates, support and/or download WPML files.
You will not be able to install WPML on new sites without an active subscription.

      Kind regards,

  19. howdy,

I am very interested in purchasing your plugin.
but please allow me a question upfront:

I assume you use your own plugin on your website offering all the available languages one can select 🙂
so, what sense does it make to do all the translations upfront, when a user can just let the webpage be translated by google translate.
I seems to me your plugin than became obsolet.

would it be possible to restrict this way of google translation when using wpml?

    cheers,

    PJ

    • Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML and your question.
No, WPML won’t add all languages to your site automatically. It is you who adds the language to your site. Here’s the list of the default languages you can choose from: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/pre-configured-languages/

For now, WPML won’t translate your site automatically either – you need to pick the pages, posts ect you want to translate and send them to our advanced editor. There you can choose an option to apply machine translations (which you can edit if needed) or provide your own translations.

The translations are saved for good on your site and it’s different for Google and search engines if a site already translated because a search engine (such as Google) can add such pages to its index.

  20. hi Agnes,

    let me rephrase my question:

how does your plugin helps me to avoid an automatic translation by google translate or any other translator, preserving the language text I intend.

    cheers,

    PJ

  21. Hi,

I am thinking to move from Polylang to WPML due to some bugs in Polylang which are not getting solved.

I want to know exactly which bugs are confirmed for WPML.

Also, for your nformation we use oxygen builder, RankMath and website is in 2 languages.

Is WPML offering the same solutions as Polylang (free version)?
